Chapter 33: I Love Bathing Dragons the Most!

Chapter 33: I Love Bathing Dragons the Most!

How interesting.

A faint smile played at the corners of Bai Xuan’s lips.

So now, he could issue commands to his Legendary summons from a distance?

Excellent. Very, very good.

And that wasn’t all—there was a new change in the Book of Legends’ charge mechanics.

A fresh progress bar had appeared: Epic Charge.

【Epic Charge: 30%】

【Rare Charge: 50%】

“Normal E-rank and F-grade Missions only contribute to Rare Charge. If I want to accumulate Epic Charge, it looks like I’ll need to take on D-rank Missions and above…”

Bai Xuan stroked his chin in thought.

Now that he’d advanced to E-rank, he should have the ability to handle D-rank Missions.

“Human!”

Just then, Mare Alera called out, “I’m all dirty! Can you help me get clean?”

“?”

Bai Xuan closed the Book of Worlds and glanced over.

After a pause, he asked, “How about I have Serene help you?”

“No!”

Mare Alera shook her head vigorously. “I want you! Human!”

“…Alright, alright~”

Bai Xuan didn’t mind.

After all, bathing a dragon… well, it wasn’t exactly something he’d never daydreamed about.

“Come with me.”

“Okay~!”

Bai Xuan led Mare Alera into the bathroom.

He set out a small stool for her, then turned to fetch a clean towel and some body wash.

But in the brief moment he looked away, Mare Alera had already shed her dragon scales as easily as slipping off a dress, revealing her body right in front of him.

Ahem—

Bai Xuan rubbed his nose, sneaking a quick glance.

Little Mare barely stood a meter and a half tall, yet she was blessed with… an astonishingly generous figure. The sight was honestly a bit overwhelming.

She’s definitely not losing out to Serene in that department!

Wait—could those huge snow-white orbs be where she stores her Mana?

“Human! Hurry up!”

Mare Alera bounced in place, calling out, “Come on! Wash me here! And here, too!”

“Alright, alright~”

Bai Xuan shook his head with a laugh and walked over to Mare Alera.

He began by pouring shampoo into her fiery red hair, gently massaging it in. Then, as if remembering something, he asked, “Little Mare, are you a newly-hatched dragonling?”

“I’m a full-grown dragon, you know~”

Mare Alera swung her little legs as she replied, “I fought a bad guy a while back, but I ended up turning into a Dragon Egg.”

“But thanks to you, Human!”

“If it weren’t for you, I’d never have hatched from that egg!”

“I see…”

Bai Xuan nodded thoughtfully as he listened.

“But don’t worry, Human!”

Mare Alera put her hands on her hips and puffed out her chest, pride shining in her voice. “That bastard’s long dead! I tore him to pieces myself—by now he’s probably nothing but a pile of bones!”

“Oh?”

A thought flashed through Bai Xuan’s mind as he recalled the dragon bone Li Hongyou had given him. Could the dragon Mare Alera killed… have been that black dragon?

…

Meanwhile, in the safehouse—

Bai Yu lay on her bed, reading.

As night deepened, she set her book aside, got up, and headed to the bathroom to prepare for bed.

But as she stood before the mirror, brushing her teeth, she suddenly sensed something odd in her body.

“Hm?”

Bai Yu was startled to find her skin had taken on a strange elasticity.

“What the…?!”

She spat out her toothbrush, staring in disbelief.

“My skin… What’s happening to me?”

She instinctively pinched her arm, only to find the pain was greatly reduced, and her skin stretched and deformed noticeably under her fingers.

Bai Yu cupped her face, stunned into silence.

This sensation, this elasticity—it was just like rubber!

How could this be happening…?

“Anomalous Ability!”

In that moment, it was as if starlight flashed in Bai Yu’s eyes.

It was the only explanation that made sense.

She—she’d awakened an Anomalous Ability!

She didn’t even bother wiping the toothpaste from her mouth before bolting out of the bathroom, grabbing her phone, and quickly dialing a number.

…

“All done.”

“Thank you, Human!”

Bai Xuan carefully dried Mare Alera’s damp hair and soft, fluffy tail with a towel, then led her out of the bathroom.

Just as he stepped out, his phone began to ring.

Huh?

Bai Xuan walked over and picked up.

“Hello? What’s up, Yu-jie?”

“Bai Xuan!”

Bai Yu’s voice burst through the line, excitement barely contained. “I have something important to tell you!”

“Easy, easy, my dear sister,” Bai Xuan replied with a gentle laugh. “What happened?”

“Ahem~” Bai Yu took a moment to collect herself before explaining, “I… I awakened an Anomalous Ability!”

“Anomalous Ability!?”

Bai Xuan’s surprise was unmistakable. “What kind? Invisibility? Turning your body to diamond?”

“Neither. It’s…”

Bai Yu glanced at her right hand. “My body’s become like rubber—super elastic.”

“Oh? So you’re a rubber girl now?” Bai Xuan teased. “Like Elastigirl from The Incredibles?”

“Pretty much.”

Bai Yu leaned back against the headboard, a smile spreading across her face. “I’m not sure when it happened, but it actually feels pretty good.”

“So~”

Bai Xuan grinned. “Does this mean I can just cling to your thigh from now on?”

“In your dreams!”

Bai Yu laughed, still getting used to her new Ability. “But as long as we make it to the Ideal City, we’ll be safe.”

“Ideal City?” Bai Xuan echoed, puzzled.

“It’s late,” Bai Yu said, changing the subject. “Get some rest.”

“Alright.”

Bai Xuan hung up, glancing over at Serene and Mare Alera. A faint smile tugged at his lips.

The world was quietly changing…

…

Inside the Baihai City Investigation Bureau.

A man wearing a “Cube-3” mask was tightly bound to a chair in the interrogation room.

Liu Mufei and Li Hongyou stood in the observation room, watching the interrogator at work.

“Any progress?” Li Hongyou asked.

“Not yet~”

Liu Mufei shook her head. “He’s stubborn—refuses to reveal who’s pulling the strings or what their true objective is.”

“So we’re back to square one?”

Li Hongyou frowned, pressing for more.

“Not quite~”

Liu Mufei offered a faint smile. “We’ve found a Mind Controller. With her help, we might finally uncover what this group is after.”

“Mind Controller?”

Li Hongyou looked at her in surprise.

Mind Controllers were rare, even worldwide.

And even with that Ability, it took immense Spirit to actually control someone.

For a Mind Controller to pry secrets from a D-rank Anomaly, they’d have to be at least D-rank themselves.

In all of Huaguo, there probably weren’t more than three Mind Controllers above D-rank.

“Where is she?” Li Hongyou pressed.

“Ninghang City. Looks like I’ll need you to make another trip,” Liu Mufei said with a shrug. “But this person isn’t easy to handle—her background and her values are both… complicated.”

“And the Extremist Organization seems to have their eyes on her as well. You’ll need to be careful.”

Li Hongyou pondered for a moment, then asked, “Tell me her name.”
