Chapter 232: Orc lnvasion[2] |
On The Northern Pass stood high-standing walls which was a check post, one had to go through if one wanted to pass through the Central plains.
There are two huge mountains on each side and between them was a narrow valley on which the checkpoint stood
Though it looked like a fortress it wasn't a stronghold, still around 70 soldiers were guarding that place.
The seemingly peaceful place which used to be filled with passengers and carts going around was nowhere to be seen.
Everyone who presents out there was filled with mournful screams and loud battle cries.
Both the attackers and defenders were giving their all trying to take down one another.
Waves of greenish enemies surrounded the place and were now charging at the place like a green tsunami.
On one hand, the huge gates were trying to breach while on the other hand, green war monsters were fighting a squad of 30 people aggressively trying to kill them.
As time went on more and more enemies had gotten on the wall of the castle.
The leader of the other side was an Orc with a 5-Star rank and he was the only one who could restrain him but the Orc warriors flooding here were the main problem.
The overall strength of the Orc warriors was on the slightly higher side and they had more 4-Star rank warriors on their side than them.
If he engaged now and became exhausted, the 5-Star Orc would surely pounce on him and take him down.
With no one to restrain him, he was sure that his army would be wiped out before the Imperial forces arrived.
"Damn you bastard!" He cursed while staring at the Orc Chief with red hair.
Generally, they came out one month after the end of winter and by that time the Imperial forces took their position driving them away with negotiation and force.
The Orc tried to intimidate humans to get food resources after the winter which ended with a small bloody fight after negotiation but this time these god damned orcs came early and humans on this side didn't even have time to prepare.
"Commander, we have a problem. Our soldiers are suffering heavy wounds. Unlike Orcs, we cannot sustain such heavy wounds."
His merit in this small war will give him a boost when he had to head get voluntary services in his 4th year in Horizon and on top of that extraordinary performance in a time of peril is the shortest way to gain noble recognition.
"Hello sir, I am Lucas."
"I am a student of Horizon. I was passing by here and saw the situation. I thought that I should lend my hand as a citizen of Cyprus."
A brown-haired man walked out of the group whose name was Chris.
"Lucas, thanks for your consideration but I think you should evacuate this place and leave quickly."
"From your voice, I can infer that you are a 2nd or 3rd-year student. Your strength may be sufficient to take part in the battle, but the situation is quite harsh."
"We don't want you to sacrifice your life here. You have a bright future ahead, so leave quickly."
Lucas laughed a little on hearing his words and muttered raising the axe.
"My strength is more than enough to stay alive until we defeat them, sir."
"I am not arrogant nor conceited enough to lay down my life here. As you say, I have too much to do here."
Lucas's golden eyes shine brightly under the helmet and his resolute words stupefied them.
Chris wanted to refute his words, but he was stopped by the commander's voice.
"Let him fight. Just stay around him and keep an eye on him if he gets in trouble facing the orcs."
Lucas turned around and tightened the grip on the handle of his axe and started to run towards the Orcs followed by Chris and his crew.
An Orc swung his huge greatsword at Lucas with terrifying might.
BOOOM!
The ground was destroyed, forming a big deep crater and the Orc's feet sank, but what surprised him was that there was no one before him.
He was about to turn his head with a surprised expression when an axe passed through his waist, splitting him into 2 halves as his upper body flew in the air and fell on the ground.
