Chapter 288: Plunictos (2)

[There’s no need for more talk. I’ll make you into material now.]

The moment he finished speaking, the Demon Duke moved his foot.

Thud!

If Ryu Min had been distracted for even a second, he would’ve been crushed flat, but he dodged effortlessly.

But that wasn’t the end—Plunictos’s other foot moved as well.

Whoosh–!

He tried to kick but missed again.

[Hmph, dodging like a pesky gnat.]

“I’m not generous enough to stand still for such a slow attack.”

[How arrogant, just because I toyed with you for a moment. I suppose that’s enough.]

Plunictos’s eyes glowed red.

In that instant, an invisible force clamped down on Ryu Min’s body.

[This is telekinesis, based on divine power. It’s nothing like the kind angels use.]

“Oh? Yeah, it definitely feels different.”

Still seemingly unaware of his predicament, Ryu Min mumbled nonchalantly, prompting Plunictos to sigh.

[Sigh… You can’t move a finger, yet you flap your lips endlessly. I’m tired of playing around.]

Plunictos’s massive hand reached toward Ryu Min’s head.

[Be crushed into pulp.]

KRAAANG–!

The impact echoed through the castle like a bomb going off.

It was an easy task.

Crushing a helpless target into a bloody mess.

Like hammering a nail stuck in place.

And yet—

[…!]

Plunictos was shocked that even such a simple task had failed.

“Divine power or whatever… it’s not that impressive after all.”

Plunictos’s palm was pressing into the floor uselessly.

Ryu Min was standing proudly atop the back of that hand.

[When… when did you move? Did you use teleportation? No—how did you break free of my telekinesis?]

“I just used some strength and it came undone.”

[Don’t spout nonsense. No one can break free of divine power—unless they’re a god themselves.]

“Then maybe I’m a god.”

[Nonsense!]

“If you don’t believe me, try again.”

As if he’d been planning to, Plunictos’s eyes gleamed once more.

This time, he planned not to crush but to compress with divine telekinesis.

Kugugugugugu–

An invisible force pressed down on the small human body.

But that was all it did.

Plunictos’s proud telekinesis was being pushed back by another force—

Ryu Min’s own power.

“What’s the matter? Is this all you’ve got?”

[H-How… how are you still moving?]

“I told you. I just used some strength.”

[Don’t joke around. No matter how high your stats are, a mere human can’t possibly resist divine power…]

When Ryu Min smirked, Plunictos flinched.

[Y-You… you’re not saying you’re a god, are you?]

“You drunk? What nonsense are you babbling?”

[T-Then how…]

“Wanna know?”

Ryu Min leapt high into the air and said,

“First, take a beating. Then maybe I’ll consider telling you.”

His extended scythe came crashing down like a thunderbolt.

Aimed right at the Demon Duke’s head.

But it was blocked by an invisible barrier.

With a thunderous sound—

KRAAANG!

Cracks spread through it.

CRACKLE–!

‘T-The barrier cracked from a single blow?’

Plunictos jumped to his feet, startled.

This was no time to remain seated.

He didn’t know how, but the human’s attack had worked on him.

‘How can a mere human…?’

His pride was wounded, but he had no time for ego.

A second strike had already slipped through the crack in his barrier.

SLASH–!

[Urgh!]

In a moment of carelessness, his shoulder was cut.

Along with the unfamiliar pain came a flow of crimson blood.

The crimson color was proof that his flesh had absorbed divine power.

‘But how!?’

Ordinarily, a human shouldn’t be able to scratch him, not even a hair.

But now he was bleeding?

There was only one possible explanation.

‘T-That bastard is using the same divine power as me…’

Nothing else made sense.

[You think I’ll just stand here and take it!?]

“Whew.”

Plunictos summoned a whip of flame from the air.

A weapon he rarely used—Branch of Scorching Flame.

Fwoosh! CRACK! CRACK!

Every time the massive whip struck the floor, it sent out flesh-melting flames.

[Come at me, you arrogant human! I’ll melt your body and even your soul!]

His thunderous roar shook the entire castle.

***

‘That bastard’s tense.’

Watching the Demon Duke flailing about with his flaming whip, Ryu Min smirked with ridicule.

By taking a step back to observe, he could tell.

The Demon Duke was frightened.

‘No wonder. His barrier that never cracked under any circumstances was shattered in a single blow. Anyone would be scared.’

Even Ryu Min hadn’t expected his attack to land.

No matter how high his stats were, he was still bound by the system, still just a human.

Humans couldn’t defeat gods.

That’s what he believed—

Until he saw the reward.
