Chapter 179

Synopsis and Character Introductions up to Chapter 179

●Previous Synopsis

The beastmen village demanded the recapture of Jisero as a condition for interaction.

While sensing the whims of fate, Alter repelled over a hundred Garneles. After further negotiations with the queen, he proposed reconciliation between the two parties.

Amidst clashing emotions, the beastmen village decided to coexist with the Garneles and explicitly welcomed the labyrinth faction as allies.

With the foundation finally solidified, Alter headed to imperial territory to spread false information about Sarhas.

The journey went smoothly, but on the return trip, he stopped by Verene Village and learned of the tragedy that befell Ronny, Miranda, and Tess.

To rescue Miranda and Tess, who had been enslaved, Alter confronted Cliff (the village chief's son) and Sylveck, only to find himself facing the slave trader Ruben and the courtesan Orianna.

In exchange for sparing Miranda and the others, Alter was asked to protect a certain woman.

Despite the unclear situation, he ambushed the assailants, narrowly avoided Ruben's trap, and succeeded in rescuing Miranda and Tess.

Alter honored their wishes and returned to the labyrinth after an unexpectedly long journey.

●Main Characters

~Labyrinth Faction~

: Alter Les Reedwald

The protagonist of the story. 13 years old. His name in his previous life was Mori Tenko.

He was reincarnated as the second son of the Reedwald family in the southeastern part of the Alsis Empire.

His adventurer alias in Seren is Tenko, while his newly created registration lists him as Verk.

He died in an accident trying to save a mysterious dog but was picked up by its owner, a chubby god, and transported to this world, Veritates.

However, his arrival point was the beastmen village of Jisero, right in the middle of a Garneles attack. Unable to escape, he was killed, only to be reincarnated as a noble by the chubby god.

From ages 10 to 13, he studied abroad in Seren, gaining vast knowledge and connections. But on his way home after graduation, he was betrayed by his friend Lambert and left critically wounded.

Later, guided by the earth spirit Merlock, he encountered the labyrinth and narrowly survived—though he mutated into a rare species called a Mutator.

Currently, his goal is to resurrect his family, who were killed by the Baromat Kingdom, while operating from the labyrinth as his base.

: Phil

A mutated variant of Hunter Fitch, a white weasel-like monster.

Boasts overwhelming speed and once pushed Alter to the brink of death in a fierce battle before his Seren studies.

They reunited after Alter returned to Reedwald and are now inseparable partners.

A master of [White Flash Blossom], which drastically enhances physical abilities, and [Pursuit Tracking], which locates any known target.

: Child of Elas Rhino

Found separated from its herd with its mother, nearly killed by adventurers.

Phil proposed rescuing it to transport the family's corpses.

Alter agreed, treated it, and it became a member of the labyrinth.

Still unnamed due to Alter's indecisiveness.

: Hymes

Former chancellor of Rapzel in Count Walber's domain.

Acted under Luciana (the count's daughter) to hunt the monster Latira, sparking a conflict with Viscount Taclaz.

Taken hostage by the Saix mercenaries but rescued by Alter. Returned to Walber to fulfill his duties, only to be blamed for Rapzel's fall and sent to the Torpus Salt Mine.

Later reunited with Alter, who was searching for clues about the beastmen village, and became his first subordinate after being rescued again.

: Sarhas

A beastman from the Deep Forest, formerly a B-rank adventurer. A black panther beastman.

Tricked by humans into slavery, deemed troublesome, and resold until finally sent to the Torpus Salt Mine.

After helping a boy named Yunek escape during transport, he met Alter, who was seeking clues about the beastmen village.

Took on the role of liaison to the beastmen village, escaped the salt mine, and joined the recapture of Jisero.

Witnessed Alter fighting despite realizing the beastmen's ulterior motives and swore loyalty.

A master of daggers, martial arts, and [Beastification].

: Rizai

Former C-rank adventurer. Canine beastman. Sarhas's subordinate.

Rescued from the Torpus Salt Mine alongside Sarhas.

Lost an eye but serves as Sarhas's right hand due to his vast experience.

: Segett

Former E-rank adventurer. Canine beastman. Sarhas's subordinate.

Rescued from the Torpus Salt Mine alongside Sarhas.

Though inexperienced, he's valued as a rare combat veteran.

: Eshin

A heavily mixed beastman, hard to identify by appearance. Sarhas's subordinate.

Rescued from the Torpus Salt Mine alongside Sarhas.

Harbors strong distrust of humans and was initially critical of Alter even in the mine.

: Nargus

Tiger beastman. Sarhas's subordinate.

The largest and strongest of the group.

Rescued from the Torpus Salt Mine alongside Sarhas.

Now handles labor-intensive tasks utilizing his strength.

: Urk

Fox beastman. Sarhas's subordinate.

Around the same age as Alter. From Sarlau Village in the Filsatch domain.

Rescued from the Torpus Salt Mine alongside Sarhas.

Holds less distrust of humans and once nursed Hymes back to health.

: Miranda

Ronny's wife and Tess's mother.

A skilled cook who ran an inn in Verene Village, Weld domain.

Met Alter when he stopped by during his journey to Seren.

Three years later, Ronny was executed for stopping Nivor (Livnas's son) from rampaging.

Miranda and Tess were accused of conspiracy and enslaved.

Later rescued by Alter and Cliff (the village chief's son) from the slave trader Ruben, joining the labyrinth to repay their debt.

: Tess (Tessaria)

Ronny and Miranda's son. Tess is a nickname; his full name is Tessaria.

Lived in Verene Village helping at the inn and tending livestock.

Three years prior, he was nearly killed by Oveck but saved by Alter.

They promised to meet again, but Ronny's incident led to Tess's enslavement. Months later, Alter rescued him again.

As a direct victim of Oveck, his gratitude and respect for Alter run deeper than Miranda's.

~Beastmen Village~

: Quid

Mixed-blood beastman. Native of Jisero, the Land of Bounty.

Delivered the beastmen village's response, then joined Alter in recapturing Jisero, fighting the Garneles against the village's wishes.

Brought back Alter's proposal for coexistence with the Garneles and gained approval.

Now stationed in the labyrinth as a monitor with four subordinates.

~Garneles~

: Queen

Hides underground in a lake near Jisero, guarded by hundreds of offspring.

Declared the villagers enemies for overhunting her favorite prey, goblins, and ravaged Jisero—killing Mori Tenko right after his transfer.

When Alter infiltrated her nest, her inquiry into his motives became the first step toward reconciliation.

: Klutz (Red Garneles)

A Garneles variant, originally a laborer. Wields the rare skill [Telepathy].

One of the Garneles that attacked during Mori Tenko's transfer. Named "Klutz" for tripping and trying to hide it.

Mutated over a decade and mediated the conversation between Alter and the queen during his intrusion.
