Chapter 954: Home

Kyle went to the Law Well for the Law of Minor Light. He already knew the Laws of Yin-Light and Yang-Light, which was why he knew that the Law of Minor Light wouldn't come to him as easily as the others.

Light and Darkness worked differently from the other Elemental Laws. While Light and Darkness also existed in a physical sense, their physical representation was just a tiny part of their concepts. They truly showed their power when interacting with the other Elements.

They mostly worked by changing the properties of other Elements. They reduced and added mass, and in the later levels, they could even change the intensity of Energy.

In a way, one could say that they were more fundamental than the other Elemental Laws.

The Law Well for the Law of Minor Light was far bigger than the other ones. The number of exhibitions was several times higher since the Law Well also showed how Light interacted with every other Element.

The number of platforms was much lower since every platform needed to use much more Energy to operate. This increased the price by quite a bit.

This time, there were no Tribe Members in the Law Well, which meant that Kyle had to purchase one.

"Sir, you may have my spot."

Kyle glanced over at the Sect Member, who had just sent a voice transmission to him. It was an older woman with light-blonde hair.

"It's fine," Kyle transmitted. "I can pay for a platform. I don't lack Merits. You are a Sect Member, which means you can't spend Merits as easily as Tribe Members. I genuinely do not need more Merits. I have all I need."

However, the woman just stood up and walked away from the platform while looking at Kyle.

As soon as the spot became free, several people looked over. Every spot was worth over 70 Merits, which was a significant sum for Sect Members.

One of the onlookers slightly lowered his stance to charge towards the spot.

At that moment, Kyle noticed something.

A small swarm of black dots appeared in the atmosphere before vanishing again. At the same time, Kyle also felt a subtle feeling of tension in the air. It was like the atmosphere had slightly changed.

The man, who had been prepared to charge over, seemed to hesitate and looked around nervously. No one seemed to look at him, but for some reason, he felt like he was not supposed to take the spot. His instincts told him that this would be a bad idea.

"There's a free spot, and nobody is taking it," the older woman transmitted to Kyle with some amusement.

Kyle sighed. "Why are you doing this? 70 Merits is not a lot for me, but it might be a lot for you," he transmitted.

"70 Merits is a significant sum for me," she transmitted, "but you have given me something even more valuable. You are Black Sin Hammer 37, right?"

Kyle blinked in surprise. "Yes, that's my title," he answered.

"About 20,000 years ago, my son was sent to Fort K-878 to fight Primal Demons as one of his practical exams. You might not know this, but over half of all Primals die during these exams. However, during the 100 years of his exam, not even 10% of the Primals in his group were killed. The Demons attacked relentlessly, but every so often, there was a pause. The enemy numbers didn't accumulate, giving his group space to regroup and recuperate. During that year, Black Sin Hammer 37 was acting as a Decimator in Fort S-878."

"Today, my son is a Minor Sage, and he has joined the Spears. Without Black Sin Hammer 37, many more people would have died, and my son might have been among them."

"What are some years of work in exchange for my son's life?" she transmitted.

Kyle's eyes widened as he listened to the older woman.

"A friend of my niece's husband acted as another Demon Harvester in Fort A-878," another Sect Member transmitted to Kyle. "He died to the Demons as a Primal, but that was centuries later."

"My brother-in-law had a friend whose nephew worked in Fort U-878. Without Black Sin Hammer 37, Fort U-878 would still be in the control of a spy," a third Sect Member transmitted.

"Senior-sister Hall was in Fort U-878 as a member of the maintenance team. She told me that I should try to help Black Sin Hammer 37 if I ever meet him," another Sect Member transmitted.

"She also told that to me."

"Me as well."

Kyle looked at all the Sect Members who had spoken to him in disbelief.

Ayuvar was huge! How could there be so many people in this place who knew someone whom Kyle had helped?

Karmic Lines and Karmic Dots appeared for a moment in Kyle's vision. For just a tiny instant, everything looked clear.

Their numbers...

Their numbers were unfathomable.

That was when Kyle realized how this was possible.

Humanity and its units closely work together. Almost all of these people have thousands, if not tens of thousands, of connections. Then, the people they know have thousands of connections, and these people also have thousands of connections.

There are thousands of people here. So, while there are no people present whom I have directly helped, there's a realistic chance that I have helped someone who's three, four, or five Karmic Lines away from them.

For a moment, Kyle's vision became blurry as he saw an endless sea of green.

This sea of green came from countless individual threads of positive Karmic Luck.

There were millions, if not billions!

How many people had been fighting in the Forts behind Fort S-878, U-878, and V-2550 during Kyle's shift?

How many Demons had he killed?

Kyle had killed over three trillion Demons, and the majority of them would have been True Battles for a group of weaker Seekers.

These Seekers had friends and families as well, who were thankful that the Seeker in question was still alive.

This sea of green was like a dripping faucet on the searing star that was Kyle's negative Karmic Luck. Yet, it only appeared insignificant in front of Kyle's karmic debt. One drop of this faucet would be enough to provide water for millions of microbes.

Kyle's mind shook before it fully relaxed. A feeling of tranquility appeared, filling his mind with clarity.

He didn't understand any Laws.

His strength didn't increase.

The world still treated him like an irredeemable sinner.

And yet, as Kyle saw the endless stream of green, his feelings connected with his thoughts. His heart and mind committed to the same path.

Countless lines of purple color manifested around Kyle, drowning out the sea of green.

In the context of Karmic Luck, purple signified responsibility.

"Then, I thank you for the spot, Kyle transmitted with a smile as he approached the free platform.

"Thank you," the older woman transmitted.

"Thank you," another person transmitted.

"Thank you."

Kyle sat down on the platform without guilt. He happily accepted the gift.

The absence of guilt originated from an appearance of responsibility.

'The inhabitants of Ayuvar have treated me with sincerity,' Kyle thought. 'I will return their sincerity.'

'How long has it been?'

'The Supreme World? No.'

'The Tertiary World? Maybe, but not completely.'

'Earth? No.'

'Is this the first time?'

'It might be.'

'Is this what it feels like to have a home?'

The purple lines of Karmic Luck increased in number as Kyle accepted the heavy weight of responsibility.

'I am part of Ayuvar.'

'Ayuvar is my home.'

'And I will protect my home!'

Kyle focused on the Law of Minor Light with renewed conviction. As time started passing, the pain the Sin Flames gave him started to feel different.

The world still deemed him an irredeemable sinner, but that didn't matter. Kyle had done the right thing. He had helped all of these people, and they were eternally grateful to him.

In a way, the pain of the Sin Flames just seemed like an affirmation that Kyle had done the right thing.

As Kyle's heart and mind became one, he found that the concepts of the Law of Minor Light came more easily to him. He was not just comprehending this Law for himself but also for all the people in Ayuvar. He actually felt like he had something he was fighting for that wasn't just his self-interest.

Time passed, and once more, Kyle wasn't disturbed during his comprehension.

    BOOOOM!

Understanding filled his mind as the Law of Minor Light materialized in his mind.

'As expected, the Law of Minor Light was harder to comprehend than the other ones, but it also didn't take as long as I had anticipated. I thought I would need around 500 years, but I only needed around 450 years.'

'There's only one Law to go, and I will be done with all of the Minor Elemental Laws.'

Kyle stood up and left the platform without selling it. Whoever got it first would save a bunch of Merits.

Kyle flew to the Law Well for the Law of Minor Darkness. This Law Well was connected to the Law Well for Minor Light, with both of them sending Energy back and forth to keep the cycle going. Matter-increasing Energy flowed to the other Law Well, which sent back matter-decreasing Energy.

As soon as Kyle arrived, he got another offer from somebody. This time, it was another member of the Tribes.

"The Julens Family stands behind you, Black Sin Hammer 37," the Tribe Member transmitted.

"I will remember this," Kyle transmitted as he entered the pit.

By now, four Families of the Tribes had already declared their support for Kyle. It seemed like word was going around that Kyle had a True Sin Aura.

Kyle focused on the Law of Minor Darkness, and the insights came to him rapidly. Since he already knew the Law of Minor Light, he could infer how many concepts of the Law of Minor Darkness worked. He hadn't had a good reference point for the Law of Minor Light, but he had one for the Law of Minor Darkness now.

Once more, Kyle wasn't disturbed during his period of comprehension.

    BOOOOM!

Kyle's mind was filled with understanding as he comprehended the Law of Minor Darkness. Since he had a reference point, he only needed 350 years to condense it.

As he looked around, he realized that he knew how almost everything worked.

The ground and the mountains existed due to the Law of Minor Earth.

The waters and the rains existed due to the Law of Minor Water.

The metallic walls, ores, and tools existed due to the Law of Minor Metal.

The heat and the fire existed due to the Law of Minor Fire.

The air and wind were subject to the Law of Minor Wind.

The electricity and even small components of life contained the Law of Minor Lightning.

Light and Darkness existed as well, and their matter-manipulating properties were also subtly influencing all the Elements.

The living beings were governed by the four Laws of Aspects. Even a harmless animal had all four Laws inside of it. Animals had simple minds, a simple Soul, a bit of stored Energy, and an uncomplicated body. Beasts were a bit more complex, but only a bit in the stored Energy department and quite a bit more complex in the body department. Their Souls and minds were not much more complicated.

Kyle looked around and saw the Space, Time, and Gravity Energies influencing the world. He didn't know everything about them, but he already knew a lot.

Kyle left the Law Well and stopped in the air as he held out his hand.

He closed his eyes and focused on the Elements.

A small bit of all of the Elements appeared in his hands before they started to transform. They fused together and changed in a myriad of ways. The color of the amalgamation changed as small bones appeared, which formed a skeleton. Red mud changed into organs and veins as blood filled them.

Fire created warmth, and the wind flowed through the body, filling it with the valuable air it needed. With a tiny bolt of lightning, the brain started to become active, and in the next moment, it opened its eyes, looking around.

It was an inquisitive weasel, which just looked at Kyle in confusion

    Kyle just smiled at it.

"Argh," Kyle uttered with gritted teeth as he held his head with his free hand. He had just felt a sudden stinging pain, which had felt even stronger than the Sin Flames. Luckily, the pain had only existed for a short moment before it dissipated again.

At the same time, Kyle noticed a humongous wave of red washing over his body before it dissipated as well.

    BANG!

The weasel in front of Kyle exploded, and its existence turned back into Neutral Energy.

For a moment, Kyle just looked at the spot in which the weasel had been.

'This is a taboo, huh?' Kyle thought. 'I guess this was a warning.'

    'Do not create artificial life'

'No wonder there are no human farms that grow future soldiers in Ayuvar. As long as you know the Laws of Aspects and the Law of Minor Elements, you have all the ingredients to create complex life. A single Spirit Lord could probably create thousands of humans with a perfect mindset for a soldier within a second. I'm definitely not the only one who knows all of these Laws.'

'I've also never heard of anyone in the Supreme World creating artificial life. I guess this is the reason. The world rejects artificial life and punishes the being that created the artificial life.'

'I wonder, is this a moral or a safety thing? Is the God just against anyone creating artificial life, or does this rule exist to protect the Cosmos? Technically, the Cult could create an army of artificial soldiers, who are part Energy and part Death.'

Kyle imagined a world in which both sides of a war were allowed to create artificial life.

'For once, I actually agree with the rules of the Cosmos. Such a world would be too dark and depressing. Creating a human is simply too easy from the viewpoint of a powerful Seeker. If there were more ethereal Laws involved, similar to the Law of Karmic Luck, it would still be fine. If someone knows all of these Laws, they would be at a level where they don't need the help of soldiers, which would make this work again.'

'Sadly, I only need the Elements and the Aspects to create life. I don't even need the Law of Karmic Luck. I guess the Law of Karmic Luck is not intrinsic in a living being and simply affects them from the outside.'

Kyle looked to the side and focused on the Laws of the Minor Elements.

For just a bit, he tried to combine them as well. After all, what if there was a Law of Minor Elements?

Sadly, he quickly realized that he couldn't combine them. He could make parts of the Elements influence the other parts, and he could even mix them in a physical sense. However, the raw Energies they were made of didn't have any points at which they could be connected

Fire and earth could create magma, but Fire Energy and Earth Energy couldn't create Magma Energy, at least not in a pure sense. The only way to create this Magma Energy was by creating a Complex Law.

Overarching Laws didn't really exist. The closest thing to an overarching Law was a Minor Element Law to its Yin and Yang counterparts.

If there were an overarching or mixed Law...

It would just be a Complex Law.

Kyle was a bit disappointed when he couldn't combine the Minor Elements into an overarching Law. He felt like he had been cheated out of a reward. Comprehending all of the Elements was an impressive thing, but completing the entire set didn't have any kind of reward.

It was almost like the God of this Cosmos didn't want people to understand all of the Elements.

'No matter,' he thought. 'If I break down my Infused Laws and reuse all of the Essences, I now have eight Level One, eight Level Two, eight Level Three, and three Level Four Essences. I also have a boatload of Fragments of the Space, Time, and Gravity Laws that I can fuse. If I take all of these Fragments and Laws, combine them, and infuse them into a Level Five Law of Aspects, I can create a set of powerful Infused Laws.'

'At that point, my Law of Black Hole will be my weakest Law.'

Kyle felt himself getting a bit excited as he thought about his future power.

'Condensing the Complex Laws will take a lot of time, though. Mixing the Essences will not be hard since they're all at such a low level, but infusing them will take time.'

'I don't have time to focus on the Level Four Laws of the Elements, and even if I did, I wouldn't even know if I would get the permission to look at them. There's only one Law Well for every Level Four Element on this side of Ayuvar.'

'At most, I can get the Level Five Law of Spacetime Metal before I have nothing left to comprehend. However, I'm not entirely sure if I can comprehend the Law of Spacetime Metal in time. I only have 16,300 years left, and I probably need about 3,000 years for every Infused Law. That leaves 4,300 years to comprehend the Law of Spacetime Metal. It's a Level Five Law, and it probably takes a long time to comprehend.'

'Well, I should try anyway. At worst, I will just stop after 4,300 years. It's not like all the time will be wasted if I fail. I also need to push my Law of Hammer a bit more. I will just do that in the time that remains.'

'Anyway, my next goal is the Law of Spacetime Metal.'

Kyle searched for Star Genesis with his Energy Sense and found her experimenting in an isolated room. "I'm done with the Laws of Minor Elements," he transmitted to her.

"Good," she answered. "I'm still busy with some experiments. It's harder than I had thought, and I fear I'm running out of Spacetime Metals. If it doesn't interfere with your comprehension, could you give me another five cubic centimeters of them? I promise you that it will be worth the investment if I succeed."

"You don't need to promise me anything," Kyle answered as he prepared himself to leave the Sect Branch so that he could cut off more chunks of his Spacetime Metals. "We are a team, and I trust you. I know that you're not someone who takes advantage of your companions."
Star Genesis smiled a bit. Even one cubic centimeter of one Spacetime Metal was worth a tremendous number of Merits. What Kyle had given her was worth more Merits than she had made in her life by a factor of over a thousand.

      "Thank you," she transmitted.

Kyle just grinned, nodded, and flew out of the Sect Branch.

Some time later, he came back and handed the small cubes to Star Genesis.

"Anyway, I'm going to go somewhere else for my comprehension. I need peace and quiet," he transmitted

"You should check in with the others," she transmitted. "We've talked about some things."

"Yeah, sure, I'll do that," Kyle transmitted. "Anyway, hear you later."

Then, Kyle flew out of the Sect Branch before he started teleporting several times.

While doing so, Kyle sent a couple of wisps to the other people, but his actual messages were sent via the relay.

Apparently, all of them were available.

"I'm done with the Minor Elemental Laws," Kyle transmitted. "I'm going to focus on the Law of Spacetime Metal next. Did anything happen recently?"

"We're currently on standby," Manny transmitted. "All eyes are on your gamble, and we don't want to commit to anything until that's finished. Almost everyone is done with their Refinements. For now, we're preparing"

"Yeah," Sebastian joined, "I don't want to send my Elemental anywhere without knowing what all of these Formation Arrays do. For now, I'm basically just gathering Merits by doing some excursions into the Abyss. Can't even comprehend any Laws since there's no Major Lightning on this side of Ayuvar. You could say I'm mostly just dicking around."

"I'm experimenting on something," Star Genesis transmitted. "I'll still need several millennia before I'm done."

"Currently mentally preparing," Fierce Breaker transmitted. "I tried the Seventh Refinement and failed, but I don't want to give up. I'm sure that I can succeed. I could've pushed myself further the last time, but I wanted to be careful. As preparation and training, I've decided to condense a True Sin Aura. That also makes it easier to earn Merits."

"Wait a second," Kyle transmitted. "You condensed a True Sin Aura?"

"Yes, the pain is strong, but I've already learned to deal with it," Fierce Breaker transmitted. "I'm currently working as a Fighting Magnet. When my shift ends, I will make another attempt."

"Don't push yourself too hard," Kyle transmitted. "Many Unique Sages died to the Seventh Refinement."

"I know what I can do, Kyle," Fierce Breaker transmitted. "I will not die this easily."

"Well, if you say so," Kyle transmitted.

"Fierce Breaker is the only one who still wishes to go through a Refinement," Manny transmitted. "Swamp Dragon, Sebastian, you, and I are Legendary Sages. When Fierce Breaker succeeds, we will have five Legendary Sages in our group."

'Crazy,' Kyle thought. 'Five Legendary Sages in a single group. This team is pretty good. Honestly, if we can't fix this world, no group will succeed. Also, Swamp Dragon managed to become a Legendary Sage. I guess his resistance to pain is pretty good as well. Although the primary reason for his success is probably his conviction.'

"Kyle," Swamp Dragon transmitted. "I need to see you. Give me your location."

Kyle wanted to raise an eyebrow, but he remembered that he was probably being watched, and Swamp Dragon's sentence didn't come from the wisp.

"Sure, wait a second," Kyle transmitted via the relay.

Several wisps appeared in front of Kyle before he sent a couple of wisps back. One of the wisps was addressed to Swamp Dragon, and it contained his location.

The group kept talking while Swamp Dragon made his way to Kyle.

After some weeks, Swamp Dragon arrived in front of Kyle.

When Kyle saw Swamp Dragon, he was a bit surprised.

      Swamp Dragon's aura...

      Hadn't changed a single bit.

They hadn't seen each other for over 20,000 years, but Swamp Dragon was still the same.

The only things that had changed were his clothing and his Battle-Strength. Swamp Dragon wore the red of Humanity, and his Battle-Strength was above-average for a Lieutenant General, which was quite impressive. After all, he still had around 17,000 years of longevity left to become stronger.

Swamp Dragon's expression was neutral as he looked at Kyle.

For just a moment, Kyle saw a Karmic Line connecting them. Its color was brown, an unfamiliar color when talking about Karmic Luck.

"Your gamble needs to succeed," Swamp Dragon transmitted to Kyle. "I got this for you. I don't want any thanks. I just want you to succeed."

In the next moment, several small objects appeared in front of Swamp Dragon, and when Kyle saw them, his eyes widened.

"We'll stay in contact," Swamp Dragon said before he left, leaving Kyle alone.

Kyle took a deep breath as he looked at the small objects in front of him.

'They're really going all-in on me,' Kyle thought. 'Even Swamp Dragon used his wish for me.'

Swamp Dragon had given Kyle something that was just as valuable as what Manny had given him.

huh. I felt a bit emotional.

To be honest with everyone, the way Warmesaich writes his works, gives me the impression of a robot close to human.

Feel robotic, but by god does it tugs the heart strings.

I didn't really have much hope for this work at the beginning, but now I'm sold-
