Chapter 939: Mortal Karma |
"Well, that was awkward," Kyle thought as he quickly teleported back to his old mountain. Even though he had lived over a hundred mortal lives, he didn't move far from his mountain.
After he arrived, he took a deep breath and calmed down.
"I really lost myself in that last life," Kyle thought. "I genuinely didn't remember my true self until she woke me. I really shouldn't do that again. I mean, living mortal lives is fine, but I shouldn't become a Seeker again."
"For now, I'm done with living mortal lives. I'm not sure if I learned anything useful, but I should consolidate my insights."
All of the memories of Kyle's mortal lives shot through his mind, and he looked at all of them.
He relived the lives again inside his head, thinking about all of the people he had met. He thought about the decisions he had made and how they had shaped his mortal lives.
One concept after the other formed inside his mind as all the feelings turned into logic. Doing one thing caused another thing, which caused a myriad of things.
So many more things suddenly made sense.
After that, Kyle thought about his True Sin Aura.
"How? What changed? What did I do differently?"
Kyle thought back to how he felt and how he had thought back then. He had just acted by feeling, and now, he was translating the actions his feelings told him to do into logical concepts.
As he gathered more insights, he found it harder to focus as the terror and pain of the Sixth Refinement came to the forefront. Even though he had learned to live with it, it still interfered with his ability to focus.
"I can't combine all of the insights for now," he thought. "It's the same reason why I haven't truly comprehended the Major Law of Mind yet. I need peace and quiet to finish condensing the Law."
"How much longer until I'm done?" he thought as he checked the Emblem.
"Just 200 years," Kyle thought. "That would be enough to live a couple more lives, but I don't think there's much more to learn. Instead, I should get familiar with my true body and Imposing Law again."
Kyle went deeper underground and pulled out his hammer. Then, he just swung his hammer without thinking about anything.
His strikes were not nearly as clean as they used to be, but that was due to the Sixth Refinement. If he could operate normally during this Refinement, he wouldn't have taken a break from his duties on the frontline.
Nevertheless, Kyle quickly entered a state of mindlessness and focus as he kept swinging his hammer.
The last 200 years passed in the blink of an eye, and Kyle felt that he was ready to advance.
He pushed the last bit of Energy into his mind, and in the next moment, he felt a wall break.
A dense mass of Energy entered his body, and Kyle felt the world change. At the same time, he also felt the pain and terror of the Sixth Refinement vanishing.
For just a moment, he felt like this couldn't be real.
All the pain and terror were gone... just like that!
Then, he noticed the pain of the Sin Flames, but by now, they didn't even feel that bad anymore.
Sure, he would still prefer not having them, but they also didn't really affect him too much. They were more of an annoyance than a problem at this point.
For some time, Kyle just enjoyed the quiet. His mind felt so free and powerful.
As he relaxed, Kyle thought back to everything he had been through in the past 6,000 years.
The insights gathered by themselves and easily combined into beautiful concepts.
BOOOOM!
Just like that, Kyle comprehended the Major Law of Mind.
As soon as he finished the Law, his mind became even clearer. It was like a fog had been lifted from his mind. It felt like he had gone from a busy and loud room into a quiet and isolated room.
It was so easy to focus. There were no distractions here.
At the same time, the memories of his mortal lives shot through his mind, and this time, he could actually focus on them.
The insights gathered yet again, and now, Kyle didn't have any issues combining them into overarching concepts.
Millions of individual concepts were created, but just a bit later, their number was drastically reduced as more of them combined.
When the concepts reached a number in the hundreds, it became more difficult to combine them. Kyle felt like there were missing parts. He had already combined as many as he could.
"I know what I'm missing," Kyle thought. "I'm missing the Karmic Causalities of atrocities, romance, and family. Even though I had plenty of friends and experienced a lot, I've never truly interacted with these three things."
"However, that doesn't mean that I can't combine them. While I can't see the missing puzzle pieces, I can see the shape of the holes they're supposed to slot into."
Kyle experimented with the different concepts, simulating the impact of a relationship on them.
He remembered his marriage back on Earth. This had not been a healthy relationship, and it had changed how he had lived his life.
With his strengthened mind, it wasn't hard for Kyle to find some easy connections, and the number of concepts reduced further.
After some weeks of experimentation, Kyle managed to combine all the concepts into one overarching concept.
In his mind, the concept made sense, but he could also tell that not everything was correct. There were some parts he wasn't completely happy with, but they were in the minority. Overall, Kyle was confident in over 99.99% of the framework.
"Obviously, all of this is related to the Law of Karmic Causality, but I'm certain that I'm nowhere close to comprehending the entire thing. As far as I know, the Law of Karmic Causality is exceptionally rare, even amongst Immortals. This is a Law with an exceptionally high level!"
Kyle went over the framework he had created again.
"But I believe I've just finished one of the Fragments. Sadly, I can't be entirely sure since I only get confirmation from the world when I comprehend an entire Law. The world only completes and corrects my insights when I create a framework of a Law that's almost correct."
"If this is actually a Fragment, I would call it the Fragment of Mortal Karma."
Then, Kyle looked at a proverbial mountain of unrefined concepts. These were insights into Karmic Luck he hadn't been able to combine with others yet.
"Karmic Luck is very different for Seekers. After all, Mortals are not subject to Karmic Luck. The addition of Karmic Luck adds a completely new dynamic to how Seekers act, making it much more complex. I've already learned a lot about this as well, but I'm still far away from getting anywhere."
"I've also gathered plenty of insights into the effects of Karmic Blessings and Karmic Punishment, but there's also more to unearth. There's still a lot left to learn about Karmic Luck!"
Then, Kyle closed his eyes as he focused on his surroundings.
Energy came out of his body, and moments later, the black True Sin Aura vanished.
"As long as I emulate the mindset of a Mortal, I can change how the world interacts with me. It still tries to create a True Sin Aura around me, but as a Mortal, I'm not supposed to be subject to the Laws of Karmic Luck."
"I still feel the Sin Flames. I still have the visions."
"But in the eyes of the vast majority of beings..."
"I just have Neutral Karmic Luck."
