Chapter 906: Distribution of Metal

Kyle continued reading the message.

"Not entirely sure what this means. As I've said, I don't know jackshit about Formation Arrays. The only thing I know is that I didn't alert the Overseer. Otherwise, I wouldn't be writing this message."

"Anyway, I went to the Abyss, but because of the Barrier, I couldn't go there with my Elemental. The only realistic way to get there would be to summon my Elemental to the Main Dimension, travel with it to the Abyss, and send it back to the Elemental Dimension, but I won't do that without knowing more. This might kill me."

"As for the Abyss itself, it's... interesting. It's basically just a huge incline. It just keeps going down, and a bunch of Demons charge out of it at any given moment. The only way to get there without being found is by diving into the Divide and digging through the ground. If you go there on the surface, you will die."

"What I found during my short excursion is a bit peculiar. The distribution of powerful materials is interesting. I summarized what I've found in a separate report. Take a look."

Kyle opened the separate report, which was insanely long. As he read through the report, his brows rose.

"The frequency at which valuable materials spawn is unreasonably high, but they rarely form in clusters, which is unusual. Usually, you rarely find rare materials, but when you find them, you often find a huge chunk or an entire vein. This is not the case here. Rare materials seem to be very common, but they only spawn as minuscule pebbles."

"This could be the doing of the barrier. Under normal circumstances, big veins of powerful materials coincide with the appearance of a strong Earth or Metal Elemental. It doesn't matter which came first. In the end, both will be there at the same time."

"The presence of a powerful Elemental might spawn a valuable chunk of ore in the Main Dimension, which attracts more Elementals, leading to the powerful Elemental getting more food, which means it stays there since it's a good feeding spot."

"If a valuable chunk forms first, it will eventually attract a powerful Elemental, and the same thing happens. Most likely, the metals are only distributed this weirdly due to their location. Sebastian probably didn't go deep into the Abyss. There's a high chance that any powerful Elemental in this place will quickly touch the barrier and vanish. Their presence is short-lived, which means the pebbles can't grow. The barrier might have an enticing effect on any Elemental."

"Yet, the sheer number of appearances of valuable metals is still extremely high. Powerful Elementals have to travel through this place regularly, which means their Elemental Dimension has to be more than just healthy."

"It seems like it's bursting at the seams with Elemental Energy!"

Kyle looked towards the east.

"So, logically, as long as we go deeper into the Abyss, we should be able to find an abundance of valuable materials. However, getting there is probably not easy. Otherwise, Humanity wouldn't be struggling so much."

Kyle looked back at the message and kept reading.

"There is basically no vegetation in the places where I have been," Sebastian wrote, "but I've heard from other Spears that this changes if you go deeper. Unfortunately, the vegetation is also the reason why you can't go deeper into the Abyss. Turns out, the plants work with the Demons. If the plants find you, they will alert the Demons, and you're basically already dead."

"We can sneak into the outer areas of the Abyss, but we can't sneak past them. Any journey past them involuntarily turns into an open assault. These assaults almost always involve Ascendants from both sides, which is why they are extremely rare."

"We've stayed in the Abyss for a couple of days, but our loot is not that great. We only killed five weak Demons that found us, and we only managed to harvest a Level Four Law Well. Sure, the harvest will allow around 5,000 Crushers to condense their Battle Rites, but that's about it. We also got a bunch of metals, but the valuable ones only weigh a couple of grams. Do you have any idea how little a gram of Spacetime Metal is? That shit is almost as dense as a neutron star!"

"Anyway, that's everything I found. If you have any ideas about what I should do next, send me a message. This comment is mostly aimed at Star Genesis and Manny. Nothing against you, Kyle, but leave the planning to the smart people."

Kyle rolled his eyes as he read the last line of the message.

"Ignoring the last comment, Sebastian did some amazing work. The picture became a bit clearer, and we know more about the world. If I had a say in this matter, I would tell Sebastian to send his Elemental across all of Ayuvar. I want to know where those other Connections go!"

"Anyway, I'll leave the planning to Star Genesis and Manny. For now, I should work on my power."

Kyle looked towards the east with conviction before teleporting.

Since he was now a Minor Sage, he could teleport even faster than before.

After a while, he reached the Corpse Mountains again. Once more, the surroundings turned into a world of slaughter, blood, and death, and Kyle felt himself becoming more serious.

He reached Fort S-878 quickly, but this time, he continued teleporting.

As he kept traveling east, he noticed that he couldn't see any Crushers anymore, but that was to be expected. Kyle's current location was even further east, and Crushers couldn't survive in this place due to how common Sage Demons were.

Kyle saw a couple of Sage Demons, which quickly focused on him due to his True Sin Aura. Even though the Demons were Divine Beasts, they were still subject to their instincts, and their instincts told them that they were supposed to kill anyone with a True Sin Aura.

The Demons rushed towards Kyle, but over 20 Sage Shields appeared between Kyle and them. The Sage Shields engaged in the battle, and Kyle kept flying. He was not supposed to engage in any battles unless he had specific orders.

From time to time, Kyle had to stop flying as more Demons charged towards him before being engaged by more Shields.

Surprisingly, not a single Demon managed to get to Kyle. Apparently, the Shields were very good at intercepting every single Demon. However, that was also to be expected since they were supposed to guard the passage between Fort T-878 and Fort U-878.

After some time, Kyle saw Fort U-878. Just like Fort S-878, it was one of the old Forts. Since almost all of the old Forts were constructed in the same way, Fort U-878 basically looked identical to Fort S-878.

Kyle entered the Fort and quickly found the commander. Just like Commander Meristo, this commander was a powerful Spirit Lord. Most likely, he was a Major or Advanced Spirit Lord. Although he could also be a Fulfilled Spirit Lord. Kyle had no idea how powerful the higher levels of Spirit Lords were.

The commander was a tall and stocky man who wore a thick set of black armor. Based on the Energy of the set of armor, Kyle could tell that this was a temporary set. If the commander stopped putting Energy into it, it would collapse.

"Black Sin Hammer 37, reporting," Kyle transmitted.

"Accepted," the commander transmitted. "I am Commander Levinian, and I will be issuing your orders."

Commander Levinian inspected Kyle's emblem for a moment.

"Order: Immediately start your Third Refinement and assume your position. You will be a fighting Magnet for the next 300 years. I hope for your sake that your previous commander didn't embellish your feats."

Just because I'm curious: dear fellow readers, what are you predictions and theories for this Arc?

    For example:
-How will Kyle and his group solve this impossible task?
-Who do you think the overseer is? And what is their deal?
    -What exactly IS the Abyss?
-Will the groups arrival be good or bad for the future of Ayuvar?
-Will someone die? If yes, who and how?
    -How trustworthy is Manny?
-Will anything happen between Star Genesis and Kyle in this world?
-Have we "lost" Swamp Dragon completely?
    -Is Sebastian alright?

Just pour out your mind. I wanna hear!

I have a feeling the Overseer is an Immortal divine beast (or peak ascendant) who can't ascend from this world because primary worlds don't allow beasts to ascend. That demon probably managed to become insanely intelligent and is now looking for a way to ascend. Maybe he's using a mechanism for that, and that's the second machine which needs energy for which the elementals in the elemental dimension is used.

The torture humanity had to go through could be a side effect of his work or maybe he just despises humanity cause, these weaklings (humans) have a way to ascend when he doesn't although he's the strongest here. And wants to vent his frustrations on the humans
Maybe Kyle and gang will fight the demon and perhaps help it ascend (or kill it)

(All of these are thoughts that I had when I pieced all our current information together. This may change when we get new info)

Interesting theory. I also belive that the Overseer is probably trying to ascend.

But if we assume that it's a Divine Beast that's trying everything and anything to ascend, why toy with humanity?

Just like you said, it could simply be out of pettiness, if not outright hatred.

That, on the other hand, seems weirdly noncommittal, doesn't it? One would assume, that a being who managed to become this powerful would put it's own path before such emotions.

And it's also pretty inefficient, from what I can tell. If it's trying to gather energy from the elemental dimension, for some grand project (what ever that might be), why would you only use 30% of the elemental dimension and block the rest off?! Why not make use of the whole world? Is it a technical reason? Or is it really just so that humanity can't have access to laws and can therefor not ascend?!

Even just reading my own thought process, it seems like the motive of "pettiness" or (more likely) "hatred" seems the most probable.

It's Immortal and want's to either enjoy half of an eternity watching the futile struggle, before finally gathering enough energy to escape.

        OR

The gathered energy is used to "spawn/generate/breed" more demons to fuel the war, and it is content, staying the overseer of a world where humanity suffers. (...yikes, that does really sound like 'Kill the Sun')

There definitely seems spite involved but then again just for the fact I'd want to keep everything under wraps so if I was overseer i wouldn't be letting anyone ascend

The Overseer is probably trying to alter the primary world so that it will allow the beasts to ascend to the supreme world

That... could be true. This would suggest that there is companionship amongst (divine) beasts, which we haven't seen a lot of in this novel.

Like always, they need impossible strength and group cohesion, to solve this. The existence of this cohort itself is a miracle; From Sebastian's Elemental, Manny's Knowledge, Star's Formations, Swamp's Drive, and Kyle's insanity. Cause he is insane.

Fierce Breaker hasn't done anything too noticeable, I don't got hopes for him. He most likely dies to some random Sage or other canon fodder.

I have suspicions the Overseer is someone from Inner World, funneling resources to the Immortal dimension. Or an immortal's avatar placed there for a personal benefit. I genuinely do not believe this is a Divine Beast, as who would be stupid enough to patiently teach a beast formation arrays? I'm 98% sure it's an inner world immortal, and the remaining 2% is on the vague possibility it is a beast.

Manny gots to be trust worthy. He has no choice. I don't believe he can be some type of tripe agent, as Kyle picked this world entirely on a whim. He had no foreknowledge, to plan this. No one should have.

Like many of the groups before Kyle and his, they contribute to Humanity in their own ways. This is war, good or bad, they represent another chance. Another angle to leave these dark times.

Star and Kyle, yeah, no way anything happening there. I mean, the time they can spend shagging, they could kill trillions of demons- lmfao, the times just won't allow it. Their too busy.

Swamp Dragon remains as he is. He just doing his own thing fr

Sebastian best mind his step. The abyss seems, more likely than not, just an oversatured area of Ayuvar. The only reason it's called the Abyss, in my understanding, is because the Overseer keeps stepping in to ensure the Demons/Divine Beast, survive. At the end of the day, the Demons don't have tactical insight. There's Spies, but Humanity could solve that easy if the Overseer once again wasn't in the frame.

This isn't a war between Humanity and the Demons, this is a war between Humanity and the Overseer.

And give what I know, the fact someone from the Final Cult couldn't M.A.D. before they died?

The group needs more then Strength. Something so Beyond Strength, it's just illogcal.

So your theory is that the world of Ayuvar has been manipulated by one of the Primary world organizations for the sake of profits. An interesting take on the mystery.

It would certainly explain the presence of the formation array barrier in the elemental dimension (though we do not know how complex they really are).

It doesn't immediately explain the presence of humanity in this picture, however. The overseer seems to not make use of humanity whatsoever.

If they were trying to funnel ressources, wouldn't there be a more efficient aproach than an eternal war, to keep the humans from causing trouble? Why not use the humans as labour for... idk, whatever it is that they are doing?

If this world really is the result of an organization's ressource harvesting project, what is it that they are harvesting...?

...Maybe elementals? Perhaps they are of use for certain formation arrays.

...or perhaps they actively generate something from humanities struggle (Yes, exactely like 'Kill the Sun')? Also more efficient ways of doing that. The vast mayority of humans in Ayuvar don't even know about the war, and enjoy relatively peacfull lives.

...It could even be something that is unique to Ayuvar. No way of knowing right now.

Woah what a great way to start your job 😂. What is a fighting Magnet? Attract demons with your true sin aura? That shouldn't be harder than being a decimator right?

Depends. A Decimator has to stay mobile, a Magnet sounds like it will mostly stationary...
And in the grand scheme of things, being a Decimator is an AWEFUL job. Kyle's case is just very special.
