Chapter 249: That one call of 'Mom'!

In reality, Jiang Yifeng was also shocked.

At this moment, he was caught in a whirlwind of thoughts.

After a long time.

Jiang Yifeng suddenly murmured, "No, I can't hold onto wishful thinking!"

What if the information from the Divine Tortoise was wrong?

Of course, he didn't think the Divine Tortoise was deceiving him.

The Divine Tortoise had already self-destructed to destroy the World Gate from a billion years ago.

The likelihood of it deliberately lying was low.

But what if the information the Divine Tortoise originally heard was incorrect?

That wasn't impossible either.

Moreover, Jiang Yifeng also considered.

Could it be that the black-robed man couldn't locate him because he knew there was a "World Gate" in reality?

And he had already shattered it?

That didn't seem impossible either.

Thinking of this, Jiang Yifeng's eyes sharpened.

Better safe than sorry.

No matter what, he had to destroy this World Gate in reality.

But how could he destroy it?

From the last simulation, he could tell the strength of the "World Gate."

It seemed he couldn't slack off; he needed to simulate more diligently and enhance his strength.

However, it would be best to test the strength of this "World Gate" in the simulation.

He decided that if his simulated self didn't attack the World Gate, he would conduct a deep simulation.

But there was no rush for now.

The gate wasn't going anywhere.

With this in mind, Jiang Yifeng continued to look at the simulator!

[After a long time, your expression turned serious.]

[You felt that no matter what, the World Gate had to be destroyed.]

[So, you unleashed your full aura and struck the "World Gate" with all your might!]

["Boom!" A loud noise echoed!]

[The entire ancient relic began to tremble.]

[Not long after, the "World Gate," originally buried deep underground, now stood towering in the void.]

[It appeared quite abrupt.]

[Indeed, your punch had lowered the surrounding land by a hundred thousand meters.]

[That's why the "World Gate" stood abruptly in the void.]

[Because the surrounding land was all gone!]

[At this moment, you looked at the giant gate standing in the void with a solemn expression.]

[Although that punch had overturned the ground by over a hundred thousand meters, it only left a small crack on the giant gate.]

[This made you even more certain that this was the "World Gate."]

[But knowing it was the World Gate, how could you destroy it?]

[In the last simulation, the Divine Tortoise had summoned several half-Dao level fierce beasts to attack it for hundreds of years, yet they couldn't break the World Gate.]

[At this moment, Shen Wutian was somewhat dumbfounded.]

[He knew you were strong, but he didn't expect you to be this strong.]

[The power of that punch just now seemed stronger than those Saint realm experts in the Immortal Realm!]

[Besides, that punch seemed to have alerted some uninvited guests.]

[Although this place was isolated from detection, the power of that strike was equivalent to the half-Dao level of the Immortal Dao.]

[Such a commotion couldn't be completely isolated here.]

[Soon, two figures appeared in this ancient relic.]

[No, it was three!]

[Two people walked together, and another came alone, hiding well.]

[If you hadn't used the Chaos Heavy Pupil to scan the surroundings, you might not have noticed.]

[You looked at the two figures walking together in the void and, without saying a word, attacked directly.]

[You had already learned about these two through the Chaos Heavy Pupil.]

[They were Saint realm experts from the Immortal Realm.]

[They were also the ones controlling Shen Wutian.]

[Of course, you didn't attack to help Shen Wutian.]

[You simply found the people from the Immortal Realm unpleasant.]

[Two ordinary Saint realm experts couldn't stir up any waves in your hands.]

[In less than a minute, the two of them lay on the ground like dead dogs.]

[The Saint realm expert hiding in the dark saw this and tried to sneak away.]

[At this moment, you looked in her direction and softly said, "Should I call you Saint Su, or... Mother?"]

[The Saint realm expert who had hidden herself was Su Mushuang.]

[Upon hearing your voice, Su Mushuang knew she had been discovered by you.]

[Her expression was somewhat complicated, and she didn't run anymore.]

[She merely sighed inwardly, "It's not time yet!"]

[You didn't know what Su Mushuang was thinking.]

[At this moment, you looked at Su Mushuang, and your expression was also complicated.]

[Originally, you had a lot of questions you wanted to ask, but suddenly you didn't know how to begin.]

[In the end, you pointed at the two Saint realm experts lying on the ground and said to Su Mushuang, "Help me control them!"]

[Indeed, you hadn't killed those two Saint realm experts from the Immortal Realm.]

[You had only severely injured them!]

[Su Mushuang heard this and, without asking much, directly used her magic to control the two Saint realm experts.]

[She even generously handed over the control technique to you.]

[After everything was done, you and your mother stood facing each other in silence.]

In reality, Jiang Yifeng felt himself being impacted once again.

What did Su Mushuang mean by "it's not time yet"?

Could she know about his simulator?

Right, she didn't seem surprised to see he had the power to suppress Saint realm experts.

She might really know.

But how could that be?

No, this won't do!

He had to find out the reason.

With this thought, Jiang Yifeng didn't hesitate.

He directly murmured, "Start a one-month deep simulation!"

[Ding, starting a one-month deep simulation, deducting 720 origin values, remaining origin values.]

Instantly, Jiang Yifeng's consciousness entered the simulation.

At this moment, he didn't look at the ruins caused by his simulated self's punch.

Instead, he focused on Su Mushuang in front of him.

The questions he originally wanted to ask suddenly couldn't be voiced.

He personally felt the conflict in the simulation just now.

This woman had watched him die multiple times in simulations.

But it seemed all because of his previous instructions in the simulations.

Yet now, it seemed there was another reason.

Jiang Yifeng was deeply conflicted.

After a long time, all his words condensed into one sentence: "Mom!"

No matter what, it seemed she hadn't done it on purpose.

In the end, Jiang Yifeng called her that.

Suddenly, Su Mushuang's tears flowed freely.

How many years had she longed for this word?

Yet, due to various reasons, she couldn't be with her child, couldn't even acknowledge him!

Jiang Yifeng instinctively reached out to wipe the tears from Su Mushuang's cheeks.

And this gesture made Su Mushuang's tears flow even more uncontrollably.

The two of them stood quietly in place, for a long, long time!

It's like you are watching the flash confront the reverse flash who keeps saying "it was me Barry, it was me all along" and then Barry realizes that he forgot to take his pills again and his dementia caused by his brain being knocked around do to him moving and stopping really fast all the time, is acting up again. So he takes his pills and he realizes that actually it was always him, there is no reverse flash.

(I apologize to all chinese people for my next statement which is most definitely racist. But, not to worry, I am not targeting every chinese person, but everyone with these particular values whose ethnicity is chinese. Why? Because, this is a chinese cultivation novel, and the author is most probably chinese. Not to worry. If you think I'm racist then it probably means you are too. Takes one to be one one and all that.) Ptui! I absolutely detest when chinese protagonists whitewash their own family members like this. I've seen rare instances where protagonists have ultimately estranged themselves and affirmed their dao hearts, only to have crappy redemption arcs which ruins the whole point of solitude and the immortal way. The usual tempo goes something like utilizing common sense to appeal to emotions. For example, 'people aren't grass, it's impossible not to be moved.' Realizing that rather than a lonely and 'meaningless' dao path, it's better to dedicate your struggles on a silver platter, to garbage who have not done nearly enough to deserve it. Even if they have, the past should not be forgotten. An act of abandoning one's dao heart and trampling on one's convictions. This applies not only to family but romantic encounters as well. I believe that consideration and concern should be a constant presence in meaningful relationships. But hey, maybe it's just me that thinks it would be toxic otherwise. I just think that power leveling fantasies(and all stories in general)should stray away from the concept of emotional debts and compromises with people who ultimately aren't of the same beliefs, principles, and path. I know that chinese people yearn to build stable families and own land. But shouldn't stability have some tangible degree of happiness as its foundation? Shouldn't the land between your own two feet be a result of not only your own blood, sweat, and tears, but the collective efforts of the same type of people united to fight together for genuine understanding and mutual satisfaction? Some stories feel so shallow or toxic in its emotional interactions that, I can't help but criticize the interpretation of novelists' comprehension of traditional chinese values. (This applies not only to chinese novels but also japanese and korean power leveling fantasies and their respective values.) I recognize the difficulty of writing a well-written story and acknowledge the breathtaking vistas and piss-awful swamps which authors illuminate for the readers. But with itching fingers, all I can do is scratch. Even if I grow a rash because of it. Oh. Also, I detest the concept of 'blood running thicker than water'; blind loyalty and responsibility to trash who obviously don't deserve it. I myself might be trash for saying this, but..... I think protagonists should be even more ruthless when it comes to their close ones. A character can be weak, talentless, dumb, ignorant, and unlucky. But, should never lack in ruthlessness and the courage to face problems both externally and internally. A little bit of paranoia is better off hurting others than one's own dao heart. I mean, seriously. 249 chapters, and only now are they trying to whitewash the mother. Too little. Too late. She isn't substantial enough of a character anymore. Ruined from the offset. There is no longer any need for charcoal for snow that has long since melted from peeled flesh and bloodied wood.

This isn't even related to this novel. It was made quite obvious form basically the start that it was gonna happen like this. If that wasn't clear to you then you probably should have payed better attention. And it also isn't a redemption ark. It was always targeted towards this. His mum didn't even do anything wrong in the first place.
Also idk what novels you read but redemption arks are extremely rare. Usually MC either kills them or is like "whatever let them fend for themsef".
And that usually happens cause authors are to lazy to write emotions properly which I would consider a bad thing.

Like it truly depends on what they did. You are literally mixing novel where the MC got tormented by his family with this one where it was kinda obvious from the start it was a necessary part of a plot and they came up with it more or less together making there absolutly nothing to redemtet from. So the entire concept of a redemption ark doesn't even apply here.
If you came to any other conclusion you apparently didn't pay attention.

It's not that I didn't think that the plot development would be predictable or never think that all blame should be put on the simulator, because I speculated it too. It's just that I hoped for some of the smaller details, like ensuring matters of 'life and death' to be more significant to a cultivator that aspires for the immortal way. I never thought of a redemption arc as a whole story arc necessarily but rather forgiveness or nonchalance/glossed over acceptance from the MC, even if it's just one or two sentences.(Sorry if I made that confusing.)Tell me if you want some recommendations. I'll send a PM with a couple which inspired some of my thought process. Which, I understand might be difficult to get through with just words. (Directly recommending novels in comments might ban me.) Also, this is just a personal opinion of mine but, just because something is necessary doesn't mean we can't change the way we define it. Like most time travel novels where MC is the cause, the MC might have been the problem or it might have been higher-forces which warped causality and 'designed' him to be the problem, even with a clear conscious. So a hopeful wish of mine would be if the MC never gave up even if he knew he would end up with all the blame, even if everybody else told him that it was meaningless. 'Because, sometimes the process which others might have deemed to be pointless, was the very reason we could change the result.'
