Chapter 2256: Abominable Curse

"...She is complete."

Sunny traced Anvil's gaze and remained motionless for a few moments, looking at the towering figure of the Queen's vessel, which was enveloped by white flame like a gargantuan pyre. Her dead flesh was burning.

Sunny's pale face was illuminated by the distant light of Neph's Transcendent form.

Looking at her, he took a deep breath and forced his murderous anger to subside.

His expression turned cold and somber.

Glancing at Anvil, he remained silent for a bit, and then said with a hint of disdain in his voice:

"You see, this is your root problem. A failure of imagination — or ambition, perhaps."

Taking a step forward, Sunny pressed the tip of his odachi against Anvil's neck.

"Nephis? Complete? She is not complete, Anvil… she won't be complete until she becomes Divine. Unlike you and the other two ghouls, she will not surrender until she conquers the Nightmare Spell entirely. That, in the end, is your sin. That is the reason why you don't deserve to sit on the throne of humanity, and she does. That is why you must die."

Anvil glanced at him with a dark smile.

"Funny, isn't it?"

Sunny's expression grew colder.

"And what, exactly, do you find so funny?"

Anvil shrugged.

"She is just like her father, in that regard. Ah… but I think that she resembles her mother much more, instead."

Sunny took a deep breath, holding himself back.

There was a reason why he was wasting time conversing with Anvil instead of simply finishing him off, of course. It was not because Sunny had suddenly developed a fondness for villainous monologues… although he would lie if he said that giving Anvil a piece of his mind had not felt good.

No, it was because Sunny had to get something out of Anvil before the King of Swords met an ignoble end.

There was something he had to know.

He exhaled slowly.

"Right… you bastards killed Broken Sword, as well. Was that also for the greater good?"

Anvil's eyes darkened.

"You should know by now why he had to die,Lord of Shadows. All of this could have been avoided if not for that selfish man's folly."

Sunny smiled faintly, suppressing the desire to cut off the King's self-righteous head.

Controlling his expression, he said:

"Enlighten me."

Anvil let out a sigh and calmly looked Sunny in the eye.

"It was because he absorbed Weaver's forbidden Lineage, of course. Our hands were tied the moment he did."

Sunny allowed himself to frown slightly, pretending to be clueless.

As far as everyone was concerned — even Cassie and Nephis — he was the heir of Shadow God. No one knew that Weaver's blood flowed in his veins, instead.

Anvil would not know, either.

He raised an eyebrow and asked, hiding how vital knowing the answer to that question was to him:

"And why was that so important? What was it about Weaver's lineage that made you betray your comrade? To kill your own leader?"

Anvil smiled coldly.

"Children… you don't know anything, do you? Well, no surprise. Some things are not meant to be known by mere mortals."

As the hurricane of swords above them shifted, numerous blades changing direction, he leaned forward a little and asked:

"Why did Broken Sword have to die? Let me ask you a question instead, Lord of Shadows… have you ever been to the Chained Isles? You should have. Why did the gods destroy Hope's kingdom and imprison her in the Ivory Tower?"

This time, Sunny's frown was genuine.

He hesitated for a few moments, and then responded in a subdued voice:

"Because daemons… were their Flaw."

Anvil chuckled.

"Indeed, daemons were the Flaw of the gods. Because daemons were children of the Forgotten God."

Sunny drew a breath as Anvil shook his head and continued:

"And yet, the gods did not punish and imprison all seven daemons. Only Hope. Why was that?"

Sunny hesitated with the answer.

"I'm not sure. I heard once… that it was because she was the only daemon who was worshiped by humans."

Anviled looked at him with a grim resignation and nodded, not paying attention to the blade of the odachi that had cut into his neck.

"Yes. It was because Hope was the only daemon who was benevolent toward humans, those who carried the sparks of the original Desire. She came to live among them, cared for them, and bestowed gifts upon them. As a result, she was beloved by humans… worshiped by them."

His voice turned heavy and dark:

"But she was a daughter of the Forgotten God. She carried the Lineage of the Forgotten God. And therefore, everyone who worshiped her… was worshiping the Forgotten God. Was propagating his name, his divinity, and his power. And the more they did…"

Sunny's eyes widened slowly, but Anvil did not seem to notice, continuing in the same stark tone:

"The more he stirred in his slumber, coming closer and closer to awakening. That was why the gods destroyed the Kingdom of Hope and imprisoned her. That was why they had forbidden the daemons from siring offspring, as well. And that is why Weaver's Lineage, created in secret, is an abominable curse that should never have existed."

He gritted his teeth.

"The Forgotten God is closer to awakening today than he has ever been. Now, then… imagine if Broken Sword — the most revered hero of humanity — was allowed to build a vast and powerful Domain while carrying that abominable curse. How many humans would have known him, loved him, and worshiped him? What would have happened then?"

Sunny shivered, feeling his mind go blank for a moment.

He did not know what to answer… he did not want to know the answer.

He would not have answered if not for the pain of his Flaw, which forced him to be honest even if he wished to deceive himself.

Feeling something cold permeate his chest, he said slowly:

"The Forgotten God… would have grown more aware of reality. Or maybe even awakened from his slumber completely."

Hearing his words, Anvil smiled darkly.

"Yes. Now, you know... that is why we killed Broken Sword. Because an heir of Weaver must never be known, must never be loved, and must never be worshiped by humanity."

Lemme guess, if Sunny gathers all the Weaves, he'll be the next Forgotten God or probably a vessel for him to use.

A lineage is not as important as your aspect i think. To be compatible with the dream god with a shadow death aspect is a bit weird. And the same applies if shadow god gave his blessing to sunny with the hope to take his body, instead of his lineage he obtained weaver's.

      Sunny is really a mongrel.

I’m thinking the nightmare spell is a way for weaver to extricate themselves from the forgotten god… or it’s a way to bring there father out of prison for a reunion, but at this point who knows.

According to what is written in the Nether tower, Weaver decided to create his bloodline and the Spell shortly after returning from the Void. The spell aims to push humanity towards divinity, so we can assume that Weaver wants to create new Gods, so if his goal was to awaken the Forgotten One, there would be no point in creating it, I believe that a great secret is hidden in completing Weaver's bloodline, so I am against some comments about him abandoning the bloodline as some people here say.

If I were you, I wouldn't be so sure... As you said, the Nightmare Spell was created after his return from the Void... But even though the spell ascends people to godhood rather quickly, it also consumes all the 6 worlds and merges them with the 7th world, the Dream World... which is the same world of the Forgotten God... Here, it's as if the spell is helping the forgotten god to enlarge his world and consume the rest of the worlds (the worlds were restrictions on the Void World)... So we shouldn't think that Waver is on the side of good... Perhaps he is trying to create a new god so that his father can take possession of it, anything is possible... Also, what did Waver see in the Void to decide to create the Nightmare Spell? There is a possibility that he met his father. There is another possibility that Waver went away and never came back... He came back instead of another creature or took possession of him... Even if it was easy and Waver's lineage was the key to the seal of the forgotten god , I think G3 wouldn't have made things difficult for Sunny and put him in a difficult position now... But I agree with you on one thing, which is that I don't want him to stop collecting Weaver's bloodline. ... There is another way to prevent the awakening of the forgotten god and keep using the Weaver Lineage... we just don't see this way... G3 is the only one who sees it

It is not the spell that is consuming the divine realms, but rather the Dream Realm, and consuming them has nothing to do with the spell. Sunny himself has already asked himself the question, whether what comes first is the corruption or the spell, or is the spell the answer to the corruption that is infiltrating the world? Otherwise you are just rambling with a lot of "IFs" and unanswered questions, I am working with the information we have so far.

Literally we are both just chattering. There is no evidence for what I am saying or what you are saying... We still don't know Weaver's thinking, so it is not logical to assume that Weaver's lineage is will be a solution to eliminate the dream god... I just considered all possibilities and i did not just following what I like

pretty sure this info is a non-issue. Neph wouldn't care abt it even if she found out. she wants to reach divine anyway, not just to kill off the sovereigns. she wouldn't mind if the forgotten god awakens as a result of sunny gaining power. she's unbending that way

If anything, she would determine if he was for or against humanity. If he was against humanity, he would be added to the list of beings that need destroyed. She's pretty direct/blunt that way.

I read a couple dozen comments above and the same number of theories, but something is wrong.
The seventh god had power over fate and therefore knew that he would be imprisoned in the void. But he did nothing to prevent it, which means he sincerely fought the void and had no other choice.
It is obvious that Sunny plays to Weaver's tune, just as Weaver most likely plays to the tune of the seventh god, since his power over fate is much stronger than the demon's power.
Further, the fact that Sunny was chosen by the demon is proven by the strange descriptions and comments of the nightmare spell, since I suspect that at some point Weaver wove himself into the nightmare spell.
Only a couple of questions remain:
1: Does the seventh god want his release or does the void that swallowed him want it.
    2. Does the weaver want to free his father, or at his command create a weapon to destroy the void.
(Although I do not understand how this is possible, the void is the original universal essence that created everything in this world, most likely Sunny will have to absorb the void, becoming a true god).

What if Nevis was pregnant? They were doing it like rabbits.
And the baby will definitely inherit the Weaver bloodline (it already ate the Shadow bloodline, it can eat the Sun bloodline as well)

Asterion comes from the sect which worships Nightmare Spell, which was made by Weaver, who is the son of Forgetten God. It means they worship Forgotten God.

Dude, the fate of "lost from light" He is very strong and must continue. It is not enough that he has removed himself from fate and from everyone's memories, but he must avoid them all.
The terrible thing is that he is the heir of death (death is the most feared and respected thing by all living beings) and now he has been tainted with the bloodline of the God of Dreams, the forgotten god will enjoy the sanctity and divinity of death, the worst thing is that if Sunny hadn't obtained the weaver's bloodline he would have died long ago, checkmate from the start.

Anvil said if Broken sword's domain was empowered by worship. So it's not about sunny being worshiped, since that's not how his domain works, it's about him killing more creatures and having more shadows that'd awaken the forgotten God
