    just mentioning that the helper's "betrayal" doesn't make much sense. If he is from the "demonic" sects he usually has no "family" in the strict sense of the word.

    In the demonic sects, you only have two ways to be a part, cold-blooded competitions or, recruiting someone who has a tragic past and negative feelings than a variety of tests.

    But that type of "sects" there are no family "ties" as such, since negative feelings or use of malicious techniques (human sacrifices, use of evil souls and evil spirit, poisons, parasites, etc., etc.) law of force (usually).

      Just wanna say, not all demonic sects are made with the cultivation methods that give negative feelings and sacrifice stability for speed. While those are indeed the standard, some either have no flaws but sacrifice other lives(which aren't always necessarily human) or use unorthodox methods that most consider "sinister" (like soul attacks, refining puppets from corpses, or refining oneself into a weapon). These sects which are only demonic because they are marginalized can indeed have members that join for power to protect their family because orthodox sects may not accept people with low talent. Which reminds me of another point, sometimes orthodox sects are just those that practice methods that require talent, and demonic sects practice methods that require suffering (or put differently orthodox→luck, unorthodox→pure effort)

      Of course I have no idea about which types are present in this novel so it remains to be seen

      While you make a very good point demonic and evil sects are simply unorthodox sects. It isn't a given they are actually as villainous as you make them out to be. Just like how orthodox sects aren't always particularly kind and righteous.

        I never said the demonic path is "evil"; it all depends on the person. But the nature of people who normally follow the demonic path does tend toward the evil and corruption inherent in that path.

        By the way, regarding the six paths mentioned earlier, none of them is the "demonic path." Those were the six paths of reincarnation. The "demonic path" is the opposite of the "heavenly path." If you will, it would be a "seventh path" or "outer path".
