Chapter 535: Hidden Piece (2) |
Finding out exactly what was happening was an issue for later. The mirror seemed like it flipped, and the scenery was confusing. However, I had no time to process the sudden change because I had to figure out what we should do right now.
My brain switched to survival mode. However, a huge wave had already surrounded us before I could even think of anything.
“Magic! Magic!” I shouted.
Jung Ha-Yan quickly cast a spell, but it wasn’t enough to block the huge wave. The wave smashed into the ship and sent the guild members flying away, but they managed to avoid getting swept away by holding onto the railings or a pillar. Unfortunately, I was too weak to withstand such a huge impact. Before I knew it, I was already in mid-air, and I was instantly disappointed in my weak body.
‘Damn it!’
I wanted to cast a spell by snapping my fingers, but unlike my calm mind, I was flailing around, trying to survive. A smaller wave struck my arm, and I plummeted rapidly to the ground.
“Oppa!” Jung Ha-Yan screamed, and I felt someone holding my hand.
I turned and saw Kim Hyun-Sung holding my hand tightly.
“Are you okay?” Kim Hyun-Sung asked.
I couldn’t be safer in the regressor’s comfortable arms, but…
‘What about the others?’
The situation wasn’t as bad as I thought.
Lee Chang-Ryeol grabbed Han Sora and Elena after they bounced off the wall, and Park Deok-Gu was holding Hwang Jung-Yeon. The vanguards like Yoo Ah-Young, Kim Ye-Ri, and Jo Hye-Jin were safe, so people with high stats were strong enough to withstand the impact.
Unfortunately, the rearguards weren’t as strong as the vanguards.
I looked around and found Sun Hee-Young in mid-air. I thought we would be able to save her, but a huge wave smashed into her and swallowed her whole. The members started screaming, and I activated Mind’s Eye to look inside the wave.
I saw Sun Hee-Young struggling while being swept away.
I snapped my fingers while in Kim Hyun-Sung’s arms, and a large dragon tail manifested. Hwang Jung-Yeon and Elena were worried that the tail would break apart because they cast a strengthening spell on the tail.
Meanwhile, Sun Hee-Young was getting further and further away from the ship.
‘Reach her! Damn it, reach her!’
Kim Ye-Ri decisively got on the tail and started running after Sun Hee-Young, but the wave was faster than Kim Ye-Ri. To make matters worse, Kim Ye-Ri was struck by another wave, causing her to stab her dagger into the tail.
Kim Ye-Ri was now in danger.
While I was thinking about the worst-case scenario, a stroke of luck saved Sun Hee-Young’s life. A wave from the opposite direction pushed Sun Hee-Young toward us.
‘Nice! Nice!’
I clenched my fist, and the dragon trail grabbed Sun Hee-Young before bringing her back to us. However, just as I thought that everything was over, another huge wave descended toward the ship.
“Stop it! Stop it!”
“Eeeeeeek!”
Jung Ha-Yan cast another spell, and she cast the same spell she used in Laios.
Boooooom!
There was a loud noise, and the wave that looked like it was going to swallow us whole was compressed before disappearing into nothingness.
“Nice, Jung Ha-Yan! Niiiice!”
My surprise only lasted for a moment because Han Sora cast a spell, and a black chain wrapped around me. She didn’t cast this spell to tie me up. It was a spell that would prevent me from being sent flying away. As expected, I felt heavy, and I felt like a magnet stuck to the ship.
I raised a thumbs-up to the greatness of magic.
Meanwhile, the dragon tail delivered the unconscious Sun Hee-Young inside the ship. It seemed that she ended up swallowing some water, and Elena was on her way toward her. Unfortunately, it was difficult to move aboard a rocking ship.
To make things worse, holy power couldn’t really heal Sun Hee-Young.
“Ye-Ri, hold Miss Hee-Young tightly. I think it’s best if you prepare for the incoming waves, Mr. Hyun-Sung. That should be enough,” Elena instructed.
“But…”
“Hurry,” she urged.
“...”
“I understand,” he said.
I was certain that our lovely regressor was strong enough to handle these waves.
This was just my assumption, but I had a feeling that we had to enter that wormhole because our ship would eventually get destroyed if we decided to stay here.
‘Shit… at least we have this ship.’
I was sure that if we had been using Park Deok-Gu’s tiny boat rather than this Nice Boat, the guild members would have already been swallowed by the waves and would have had no choice but to wait for their demise.
I started moving while having many useless thoughts. I felt bad because she hadn’t consented to this, but I started performing chest compressions on Sun Hee-Young.
I wasn’t really sure if I was doing it correctly, but my memories were telling me that I was doing it properly.
The ship was trembling, but I was able to maintain my balance.
I secured Sun Hee-Young’s airway and placed my mouth over hers before blowing air into her mouth.
Kim Ye-Ri anxiously grabbed Sun Hee-Young’s hand. I felt like Sun Hee-Young was responding. Water was coming out of her mouth, but she was still unconscious.
I decided to perform another round of chest compressions before breathing into her mouth, and she eventually started coughing up blood.
I ended her treatment with a bit of my holy power.
Once she woke up, she would be able to treat herself, so I decided to end her treatment right there and then. I was worried that Jung Ha-Yan would throw herself into the waves after seeing what I had done to Sun Hee-Young, but fortunately, she wasn’t watching.
I wasn’t sure if the goddesses had helped me, but the waves had stopped smashing into our ship at some point. However, the ship was still trembling, so Jung Ha-Yan had to be ready to dissolve any incoming waves.
‘Damn it, nature really is… mighty.’
There was a reason magic took form in the shape of nature.
Anyway, our current situation was so ridiculous that I felt like someone had cast a Mythic-rank spell on us. If those waves crashed into the continent rather than into our ship, there would be a catastrophic loss of life. It would be an understatement to say that it would be a horrible sight. Recovery would be impossible. Was this what the world would look like during Judgment Day?
I would never know what Noah felt while drifting around the world in his Ark, but it wouldn’t take a genius to deduce that he was definitely anxious.
We were surrounded by waves. The rearguards blocked the massive ones, but anyone could deduce that we would soon be overrun by these waves. Kim Hyun-Sung split the waves into two with his sword, but there was no way he could do that for a long time.
“Park Deok-Gu, grab the handle!” I instructed.
“Uh? Huh?!”
“Grab the ship wheel! The handle!” I shouted.
“Ah… Ah! I got it!” Park Deok-Gu yelled.
Park Deok-Gu quickly grabbed the ship wheel. We should dodge the waves from the front and ride the wind. Anyway, the priority was reaching that wormhole and entering it.
“Mr. Ahn Ki-Mo, the sail! Spread the sails! The sails!” I ordered.
“Bleeeeck!”
‘Shit… Pirate, my ass!’
“Bleeck! Yes… sir! Bleeck! Wait… Bleeck!”
‘Sea adventure, my ass!’
“I’ll take care of it.”
‘All right, Chang-Ryeol. You take care of it, damn it.’
Lee Chang-Ryeol took over and spread the sails, and the large ship sailed through the harsh waters. I wasn’t sure why, but the ship instantly started moving. However, it was listing slightly, and it seemed that we had been riding the ship with a list.
‘Where the hell are we?’
I felt a bit relieved and started looking around, but there were waves everywhere, which made all this a bit unrealistic. I wasn’t sure how the wave above us wasn’t falling. The ship was moving to the left, right, and upward to avoid the waves, but it didn’t seem strange for some reason.
It felt like we were in a space that completely ignored the natural laws of the world.
The current situation was so unrealistic that it made me think of Incept-something—a movie I had watched a long time ago. Naturally, I got worried that there was a dimensional mana or rift-something floating around somewhere here.
“Hold on tight! Hold on tight!” Park Deok-Gu shouted.
Boom!
There was a loud noise, and we staggered. I was sure that Park Deok-Gu had no idea what he was doing right now, but I could see him withstanding the waves while moving the ship toward the wormhole.
It seemed that he had practiced sailing somewhere because his control of the ship was impressive, but I didn’t have the luxury of observing him more closely.
The ship was relatively stable, but we couldn’t let our guard down. Jung Ha-Yan, Kim Hyun-Sung, and Jo Hye-Jin did their best to stop the waves, the rearguard continued casting their spells while Elena poured out as much holy power as she could.
And that was when I saw something unrealistic...
- Wieeeeeoooooo!
Splash!
A creature that seemed like a massive whale emerged from a wave.
“What… was that?”
“This is crazy…”
I didn’t manage to check it properly with Mind’s Eye because it appeared out of the blue. It was a creature that was at least ten times larger than Dialugia, and it didn’t seem to care about our tiny but nice boat.
The creature flew toward another wave.
Boooooooooooom!
The impact sent a large amount of water toward the ship.
A large shield was protecting the ship, and it deflected the force behind the water.
Unfortunately, it seemed that the water’s weight couldn’t be ignored because we started sinking. The good thing was that the ship instantly came back up, and everyone was rendered speechless and could only look at each other blankly.
“...”
“...”
I understood why they reacted that way because they definitely saw the same thing I did when we sank just now.
“Mister, did you see it?” Kim Ye-Ri asked.
“Yeah… I did,” I replied.
I stared at Kim Ye-Ri while thinking that we had ended up arriving at a strange place.
Meanwhile, the Nice Boat finally entered the wormhole.
The system’s voice echoed.
~
[You have entered a Mythic-rank dungeon.]
~
It would be an understatement to say that we were in a bad situation.
‘Shit…’
