Chapter 496: It’s Darkening! (2)

It was really effective. The word effective was a bit stereotypical here, but nothing could describe the current situation better than that word.

I braced myself and prepared contingency plans in case he showed a different reaction, but he showed the reaction I had been expecting, which wasted my preparations.

Rimoura stared at me in confusion, but she was quick-witted, so her face soon brightened up.

She quickly realized why I had come here and why I looked like this.

‘I don’t think she was told beforehand…’

The battle in the nest came to a lull, and the people were staring at me in shock.

“Is that you, hyung-nim?” Park Deok-Gu asked.

“O-O-Oppa. Heuuuung. Oppaaa…!” Jung Ha-Yan cried out.

“Darling?” Cha Hee-Ra called out.

“Mr. Lee Ki-Young…” Elena said.

They looked at me as if they couldn’t believe what they were seeing, and the majority of them were confused about how they should react. Elena, Cha Hee-Ra, and Kasugano Yuno instantly knew what was going on, so they looked like they were in despair.

Kim Hyun-Sung was in despair as well.

However, the slow-witted Park Deok-Gu started yelling at me, and he looked so happy that it was a bit ridiculous.

“Y-You’re alive! Hyung-nim is alive. I knew it! Hyung-nim, hurry up and run over here! No, stay there. I’ll go to you. I’ll go to you!”

“...”

“I knew nothing that you’ll be fine, hyung-nim. I expected nothing less. I knew you’d hold out. I-I’ll save you, so just stay there,” Park Deok-Gu continued.

‘Park Deok-Gu, why are you so slow?’

I wasn’t sure if he was denying reality or if he was just slow-witted, but he was screaming while crying.

“Hyung-nim, your little bro is here. The little bro you love the most is here! Can’t you hear me? Geez. You’re so pale, hyung-nim. And your hair… What are you guys doing? Let’s hurry and drive out these demons and save hyung-nim. What are you all doing?! Seriously!” he yelled.

“...”

“Are you under a spell or something? Pick up your weapons! What are you guys doing?! Are you okay, Mr. Hyun-Sung? Mages, hurry up and cast your magic! Warriors, hold up your shields! Hold it up! Hyung-nim is right before us! He’s right there! What are you all standing around for?!” he continued.

‘Geez, this bastard is breaking my heart. Seriously. And I’m a bit far away.’

“It’s too late.”

“What do you mean, it’s too late?! Stop talking bullshit and fight, you bastards!” he cursed.

“...”

“Fight! Fight, you imbeciles!” he screamed.

The room became quiet as if a silence spell was cast on the room itself. There wasn’t any noise other than Park Deok-Gu’s screams. He kept on looking around while shouting that I had to be saved, but no one answered him.

Aside from Park Deok-Gu, everyone realized that something was off.

To make matters worse, someone was sobbing, and it was obviously Jung Ha-Yan.

Heuuuung. Oppaaa… Heuuuuuuung…!”

I didn’t look away because I thought that I would start pitying her, but not only did her voice sound sad, but she was also crying out loud in anguish. I thought for a second about how I should act, but I didn’t make any changes to my plan.

I started walking slowly, and their eyes landed on me. I took a deep breath and acted as if this nauseating room filled with tentacles was refreshing, but the way people looked at me didn’t change.

It actually wasn’t bad…

They looked at me as if I had obtained a new power, and the unknown satisfaction I felt while looking at the ceiling was the best ad-lib a supporting actor could make in a ten million box office movie.

Some were already crying, while others felt hopeful. However, the people in the latter category quickly fell into despair because Rimoura started walking toward me.

“Hyung-nim! Run away! What are you doing?! Let go! Let go of me!” Park Deok-Gu yelled.

“Calm down!”

“Are you just going to stand by and watch? We don’t know what that monster will do to hyung-nim! Let go of me!” he said.

“Please calm down!”

“Hyung-nim! Can you hear me? Let go of me! Let go of me! Shit! Let go! Let go of me, you bastard!” he cursed.

As Rimoura got closer to me, Park Deok-Gu’s sincere yelling got louder. However, he had to have finally realized that something was off because he went silent and revealed the same expression as the others.

Their expression turned grim when Rimoura hugged me lightly.

Park Deok-Gu was both in disbelief and despair.

My mouth moved slightly, and everyone gulped, curious about what I was about to say.

I spoke in a deep voice and cold voice that would convince them that I had been corrupted.

“It’s noisy.”

Huh?

“...”

“W-What are you saying?” Park Deok-Gu asked.

“You’re loud. I was feeling really refreshed, but I feel uncomfortable right now,” I replied.

“Have you come to your senses, hyung-nim?! If you have, look over here. It’s me, Park Deok-Gu! Your little bro, Park Deok-Gu!” he shouted.

“Oppa… Oppaaa!” Jung Ha-Yan yelled as well.

“Father Lee Ki-Young. Can you hear me? C-Can you hear me?” Sun Hee-Young asked.

“What are they blabbering about, Rimoura?” I asked.

- It’s nothing you need to worry yourself over, husband.

‘Why are you calling me husband?’

I was a bit dumbfounded by the fact that she called me husband, but I decided to let it pass because she had tried her best to hold out until she was on the brink of death.

Anyway, the script in my head told me that I was supposed to be under Rimoura’s control. Of course, it would be too much for me to appear as one of the members of the 27th Legion.

In addition, I would lose my charisma if they found out that I was working for someone.

Rimoura’s sticky tentacles felt a bit uncomfortable, but the image we managed to portray didn’t look so bad.

I was sure that my current image would be extremely shocking to those who still hadn’t realized that they were standing in front of this region’s final boss.

Honestly, I looked like a teenager in my rebellious phase, but people who had fallen into depravity often looked like this.

‘And it’s effective…’

“Oppa… Heuuuuung. Oppaaa…!” Jung Ha-Yan cried.

“...”

“Oppaaa… Hiccup, hiccup!” she called out to me again.

“...”

“Oppaaa…” she repeated.

The unaware Jung Ha-Yan kept on crying while calling out for me.

I wasn’t used to my new job yet, but…

“I said it was noisy,” I said.

A massive orb of energy instantly formed over my palm and flew toward Jung Ha-Yan.

‘What the…’

I simply wanted to scare her, but the massive orb of energy contained an energy that made everyone here feel a sense of crisis.

I figured that it was because of Belial’s specialty.

Jo Hye-Jin stood in front of Jung Ha-Yan and defended her.

Jung Ha-Yan looked at me in disbelief, while Jo Hye-Jin was in distress.

“Step back, Miss Ha-Yan. It’s dangerous,” Jo Hye-Jin suggested.

“...”

“It’s a lie. Hiccup,” Jung Ha-Yan commented.

“...”

Heuuuuung. Hiccup. Oppaa…” she called out.

“Shut up, you dumb human,” I commanded.

“...”

‘Ha-Yan listens well.’

- No need to be angry, my husband. Those low lives who are giving you a headache will soon disappear.

“What did you do to the sub guild master?”

‘Wow, thanks for getting mad at the situation, Hye-Jin.’

- Is an explanation even necessary? It’s exactly what it looks like. He had just decided to join us. The weak human you’ve known for so long is no longer here. He is no longer the dog of that hideous Benigoa but the captain of the 27th Legion—a position he had obtained through Belial’s benevolence. He has also become my husband, and he entertains me every night. Hehe.

‘I don’t think there’s a need to add an unnecessary backstory, but… she really is worthy of being Belial’s favorite demon.’

She was so quick on the uptake that it honestly amazed me.

- Basically, you’re too late. Pffft! You ran all the way here without knowing that, and it’s honestly so funny that I want to laugh until my stomach hurts. I’m sure I’ve entertained you a lot. What do you think? Did you enjoy it? It was really entertaining to see you all struggle with a sliver of hope that you weren’t late, but unfortunately, that isn’t the case.

“...”

- Yes, it’s that face…! You lowly humans. Your expressions are perfect for humans like yourselves. I’d expect nothing less.

The way Rimoura trembled as if she was having an orgasm made it difficult to tell whether she was acting or not.

However, her expression was perfect.

‘She’s probably trying her best to increase her merit through a great performance.’

I thought that she had already accumulated a lot of merit because the majority of humans here looked as if they had lost all hope. A three-year-old kid would know that the people here were in despair. To make things worse…

‘Man, Hyun-Sung…’

He was still looking at the ceiling in a daze, and the sight made me feel uncomfortable. He looked as if he had lost consciousness. I knew that his mind was weak, but I felt like I was looking at a living corpse.

‘Is he okay?’

I thought that perhaps he had fainted with his eyes open because of Rimoura’s attack earlier, but I realized that he was still awake because he was mumbling something.

He was mumbling something about taking his anger out on my contractee. The despair and the current emotions of Kim Hyun-Sung and the Sacred Democratic Country’s expedition party made me think that they were more than enough merit compared to what Belial had invested so far.

I looked around indifferently, but I didn’t see any humans who were thinking about resisting me. The majority of them looked as if they had given up, and they seemed convinced that they were really going to die here.

Elena and Kasugano Yuno were swaying as if their souls had left them, and I didn’t even have to say anything about Jung Ha-Yan. The guild members and the priests of the Sacred Democratic Country kept on mumbling Benigoa’s name in disbelief.

‘They’re supposed to get out of here… What should I do?’

There wasn’t anything that they could do here. Surprisingly, the only one who was still relatively calm was Cha Hee-Ra. I thought she would immediately go on a rampage based on her personality, but she was actually acting like an experienced adventurer.

She looked around, and I was amazed at how she ordered people to get into a certain formation.

I couldn’t help but think that they were about to retreat because Cha Hee-Ra’s lips started bleeding as she bit them strongly, and her eyes became filled with tears.

“Let’s retreat.”

‘You made the right choice.’

They had to retreat because the majority of them weren’t in the condition to fight. Kim Hyun-Sung was the main damage dealer of the team. However, he wasn’t in the best condition, so it would be too much for them to fight us.

Right now, I simply had to play along.

I stared at them coldly and said, “Kill them all.”

- As you wish.

The room was instantly filled with a cacophony of noises.

‘I was fuckin’ charismatic. Shit…!’
