Chapter 468: Continental Joint Training (3)

‘Is she having another mental breakdown?’

I got scared for a moment, but thankfully, it seemed that I didn’t have to worry about it. I was relieved because it turned out that Jung Ha-Yan was just feeling a bit annoyed. If I had to describe it, she was just temporarily annoyed, so it wasn’t a big deal.

Yes, she was pouting with a pale face, and she stuttered at least four times throughout her sentence. However, this was nothing compared to whenever she started talking to herself.

Jung Ha-Yan had to have thought that Kylie was a charming woman because she was annoyed by Kylie’s friendliness. Jung Ha-Yan was usually wary of other women, but she was stricter toward beautiful women. If Kylie Yale had approached me instead of Kim Hyun-Sung, then Jung Ha-Yan would have definitely blown up.

Fortunately, Kylie Yale wasn’t interested in me.

We both nodded in relief.

‘She became an ascetic.’

After carrying around the lump named Jung Ha-Yan for years, I wanted to applaud myself for helping her to be more aware of herself. I was proud that I knew her enough to write a book called Jung Ha-Yan Instruction Manual.

Naturally, I spoke as if I wasn’t interested in her.

“I think she was a famous actress on Earth, but… I don’t really know her name. I’m not really interested in celebrities.”

Ah… I see. I’ve seen her before, but I don’t… r-really remember her well… I don’t really watch movies…” Jung Ha-Yan said.

“Really?” I asked.

“Yes. B-By the way, oppa… when you were on Earth, was there a celebrity… y-you liked?” she asked.

It was a random question, but I knew better than anyone that this was part of Jung Ha-Yan’s trap. If I nodded like an idiot, not only would that actress disappear without a sound, but every woman out there who looked similar to her would disappear as well.

“No. I was too busy, so I didn’t know any celebrities,” I replied.

Ahh… I-I see,” she commented.

“What about you, Ha-Yan?” I asked.

“I-It was the same for me. My house… had no television and… I also had no one to go and watch movies with…” she answered.

‘How sad.’

“Really?” I asked.

“Yes…”

I started feeling sad. I knew that she had been abandoned by her parents and her two sisters, but looking at Jung Ha-Yan’s face made me sad when I recalled that.

She revealed the sad truth like it was nothing, and even though she spoke as if she didn’t care anymore, I got affected by her words

‘I think Jung Ha-Yeon was the oldest, and Jung Ha-Eun was the middle child.’

It was a bit vague when Jung Ha-Yan lost contact with them, so I searched to see if they got summoned here as well, but I was unsuccessful.

Jung Ha-Yan also didn’t really like mentioning her sisters and mother. I had never really seen their names, even in the summoner’s archives, so they had to have really abandoned Jung Ha-Yan.

My heart broke even more when I recalled that the hapless mage was trying her best to stick close to me because she was afraid of being abandoned.

‘Even Azmodan[1] will applaud them… If I ever meet them, I’m going to backstab them so hard.’

I patted Jung Ha-Yan’s head out of sadness, and she smiled as if she felt better, but I quickly removed my hand because I had a feeling that something strange was going to happen if I continued patting her.

Meanwhile, the soldiers of the Sacred Democratic Country who came with the ordinary guild members of the Blue Guild entered the large building, and people also started moving according to Jo Hye-Jin’s instructions.

Of course, the executives heading to the resting place weren’t moving with them.

Light Ki-Young and Kim Hyun-Sung, the important figures of the Sacred Democratic Country, had a meeting to attend soon.

Jo Hye-Jin would take care of another business, so Sun Hee-Young was given the task of taking care of the guild members.

I had to leave, so I started talking to her, “Miss Hee-Young, please take the guild members and stand by at the assigned location.”

“Okay.”

“They can train or take a look around, but please tell them to refrain from talking to the soldiers from other nations. It honestly doesn’t matter, but there’s no need to create unnecessary conflict. There are some politically sensitive nations as well… You can eat separately if you want, but I recommend eating with the common soldiers,” I continued.

“All right, Mr. Ki-Young,” Sun Hee-Young replied.

“Thank you,” I said.

“It’s fine. You don’t have to thank me for it. It’s part of my job. I hope you have a good meeting,” she said.

Sun Hee-Young’s mind was a bit unstable as well, but I felt relieved to see her smile.

Sun Hee-Young looked like a normal person right now, but it was probably because I had crazier women around me.

“Ha-Yan as well…” I said.

“W-Where are you going?” Jung Ha-Yan asked.

“A meeting. I’m going with Mr. Hyun-Sung and Miss Elena. I think it’s going to take some time…” I replied.

“W-Why is the elf going?” she asked.

“She’s an executive of the Kingdom of Others,” I answered.

Ahh… I… see. Is C-Cha Hee-Ra going as well?” she asked.

“Probably…”

‘She’s moderately furious now...’

Jung Ha-Yan started pouting, and her face turned pale as well.

‘She’s on the verge of becoming really angry now.’

If I left her like this without doing anything to assuage her anger, then she would naturally become really angry. The moment that happened, it would only be a matter of time until she became extremely angry.

I thought she had matured during the time we spent apart, but her mood had to have soured when she heard that I was going to be with Elena and Cha Hee-Ra.

In addition, I was sure that she wasn’t happy about the idea that I would be in the same room as Cha Hee-Ra.

“I won’t come back too late,” I told her.

“Okay…”

She still looked kind of sad, and I would’ve taken Jung Ha-Yan with me if I could, but the problem was that I couldn’t do that. If all the executive figures in the meeting room brought their adjutant, then the meeting room would become really crowded.

She had to have understood that I had no choice because she nodded while pouting.

When I started patting her head, she was no longer pouting.

During all this, the elf stood next to me as if she was happy. Jung Ha-Yan didn’t really stop Elena because she thought that Elena still had to treat me, but she wasn’t exactly happy about it. It would have been a bit better if Kim Hyun-Sung was between them, but he had already gone over to the meeting room with that woman.

For some reason, I kept on feeling as if someone was staring at me from behind.

‘I’m sure it’s nothing.’

I headed toward the meeting room while suppressing my anxiety. To be honest, it was too small to be called a meeting room, but they had to have booked this room in advance because there were many people in the room. The authoritative figures of the entire continent and the masters of powerful guilds had gathered here.

It was like a National Assembly.

There was a large magic hologram in the middle of the room and a podium where the moderator would supervise the meeting. There was also a large, round table with luxurious chairs. The Sacred Democratic Country was assigned to the uppermost seats of the center, and as I walked down to my seat, I started seeing familiar faces.

I greeted Cheon Kwan-Wi and Yu Ran of the Eight Seats briefly. Kasugano Yuno and I greeted each other with our eyes. Cha Hee-Ra wasn’t here yet.

What caught my attention was the grim look on the faces of the masters of the mid-sized guilds, but I understood why they were nervous. It was all because it was their first time attending an event like this.

In addition, this meeting was the first step that would decide the fate of the continent.

Time went on, and people started talking among themselves. The meeting hadn’t even started, but the majority of the people in the room were already sharing information with each other.

Some were walking around the room to make connections, while others exchanged secrets as if they already knew most of the people here. I was honestly doing the same as them. I spent time talking to the people from Laios, the Republic, and the Kingdom of Others.

Of course, I also greeted the people whom I thought were useful. Naturally, I smiled at the people who had decided to approach me first.

The people from the mid-sized guilds and clans were walking around the room to see if they could get any benefits from the more powerful figures. Kim Hyun-Sung was also busy greeting other people.

He would shake the hands of those who approached him, but I could see that he was nervous as well.

‘Seriously…’

This meeting was for the sake of uniting to stop the upcoming threat to the continent, but the majority of the people here seemed like they were only here for their own interests.

It became obvious that most of them didn’t take the threat seriously.

The people from the Republic, Laios, the Kingdom of Others, and even the people from the Sacred Democratic Country seemed like they were thinking that the threat was still in the distant future.

If even the neighboring nations were thinking that way, it would be easy to deduce what the foreign nations were thinking as well.

‘A meteor is apparently going to fall on the continent someday!’

If their doubt was caused by how they simply couldn’t believe that Benigoa descended upon the continent by borrowing Light Ki-Young’s body during the war, then it would be an issue. After all, I only said that the threat existed.

Still, even if I told them the details about the threat, I was sure that it wouldn’t have made much of a difference because humans were slackers who would only start planning on how to tackle a problem when the problem was already in front of them.

‘They’ll find it hard to take things seriously...’

If they got dragged into that train of thought, then it would be hard for them to take things seriously.

Kim Hyun-Sung had to have reached the same conclusion as me because his expression turned ugly.

‘He finally realized…’

I thought it was going to get worse once we started the joint training. Now that he had stopped all the events that had happened in his past life from exacerbating, he probably thought that all he had to do now was gather forces, but…

‘This is a mess…’

I didn’t have to use Mind’s Eye to see that this meeting was a mess.

There was a meeting participant that looked like a bloated pig. There was no way I would believe that he was a warrior. Even worse, he wasn’t giving off the same vibe as Park Deok-Gu.

Unlike Park Deok-Gu, who looked like a huge lump of muscle, the bloated pig looked like a huge lump of fat. Honestly, he actually looked like he was struggling to breathe even though he wasn’t doing anything other than sitting in his chair.

However, he wasn’t the only problem.

There was also a guy covered in luxurious items from head to toe, and there were people who looked like they couldn’t fight at all.

In addition, there were even people whom I wasn’t actually sure if they were leaders capable enough of deciding the fate of the continent.

I already knew what Kim Hyun-Sung was thinking while watching this sight. He had been stuck in Lindel for most of his life, so I was sure that it was his first time seeing all this.

‘In our current situation, it’s impossible for us to face the upcoming threat.’

It was nothing more than my imagination, but I was sure that Kim Hyun-Sung was thinking that way. I was sure that Kim Hyun-Sung looked extremely hopeful before he walked into this room, but now, he was obviously in despair.

The first meeting eventually started. The topic was serious and grim, but the meeting ended in just two hours. Afterward, the leaders of the continent seemed like they wanted to promote friendship with each other, so they decided to go out on an extravagant dinner that lasted for over four hours using the denizens’ tax money.

‘It’s a mess. A mess!’

It felt like I was reading the abridged version of a certain country.

Supposedly, one of Hayan's sisters (was summoned there), as well as aegis fragment, as well as green mythic monster are all references to a novel 'green skin' from same author or whatnot.
