Chapter 385: Arriving Just in Time

Yang Haoran's body rushed into the barrier, and the torn opening in the barrier healed itself, appearing as if it had never been ripped open.

After Yang Haoran charged into the barrier, the scene before his eyes suddenly changed, as if he had entered another world filled with bloodshed.

The air was permeated with a strong stench of blood. Corpses were strewn about on the ground, with blood flowing everywhere, and some injured individuals were lying on the ground, letting out agonizing screams.

Most of the dead and injured were members of the Night Watch and the Spirit Police.

The Night Watch and Spirit Police members who were still capable of fighting were engaged in battle, and their opponents were a group of vicious ghost infants.

The scene was chaotic, filled with screams and cries for killing. The Night Watch and Spirit Police were clearly at a disadvantage.

The sight before him made Yang Haoran frown deeply, and his expression was not pleasant. He had not expected the casualties of this operation to be so severe, nor had he anticipated the presence of so many ghost infants in this place.

With a sweep of his gaze, he spotted Master Wu. At that moment, a ghost infant was pouncing on him, savagely tearing and biting. Master Wu's Yin spirit power seemed to have been depleted, leaving him with no resistance.

The ghost infant opened its massive bloody maw, lunging towards Master Wu's head. Although the ghost infant was small in stature, its gaping mouth was enormous. When fully opened, it could easily envelop the head of an adult.

With its razor-sharp teeth, if the ghost infant's mouth clamped down on Master Wu's head, it would undoubtedly gnaw it clean off.

Seeing this, Master Wu tried to resist, but in his current state, he was powerless. Without Yin spirit power, he could only allow the ghost infant to slaughter him.

Forget about resisting; Master Wu couldn't even dodge at this point, let alone muster the strength to resist.

As the ghost infant's bloody maw descended towards his head, Master Wu closed his eyes in resignation.

He knew that today, he would likely not escape this predicament.

However, the anticipated agony did not come. He opened his eyes in surprise, just in time to see Yang Haoran grabbing the ghost infant from his body.

At this critical moment, Yang Haoran's timely arrival and intervention saved Master Wu. Otherwise, Master Wu's head would have been severed by now.

The ghost infant struggled violently in Yang Haoran's grip, emitting a series of ferocious snarls, as if threatening Yang Haoran.

Yang Haoran let out a cold snort and forcibly pulled the ghost infant off Master Wu's body.

"Old... Boss..." Master Wu's voice was weak, but a smile appeared on his face – the smile of one who had narrowly escaped death. Yang Haoran's arrival meant that he was saved.

"Rest for now; I'll handle the rest," Yang Haoran said.

As the words left his lips, the soul gathering bead fell from Yang Haoran's ring and transformed into its normal size, floating in midair.

The ghost infant in his hands was still struggling violently. Its strength was immense, far greater and more ferocious than the ghost infant Fatty Qu had raised.

Ignoring the ghost infant's snarls, Yang Haoran calmly forced it into the soul gathering bead.

Then, with a wave of his hand, black chains appeared out of nowhere, resembling venomous black snakes, sweeping towards the surrounding ghost infants.

While these ghost infants were formidable opponents for the Night Watch and Spirit Police present, in Yang Haoran's current eyes, they were no different from ordinary infants.

Yang Haoran's move was bold, immediately attracting the attention of everyone present. Upon realizing it was Yang Haoran, the Spirit Police and Night Watch members wore expressions of delight.

The Night Watch, in particular, looked at Yang Haoran with fervent devotion.

Yang Haoran did not disappoint them. With this move, he managed to bind all the ghost infants, leaving not a single one out.

The ghost infants struggled violently and snarled madly, but no matter how they thrashed, they could not break free from the chains' control. Instead, they were all lifted into the air, suspended in midair.

Under Yang Haoran's control, the Yin spirit power-formed chains carried all the ghost infants towards the floating soul gathering bead in the air. It seemed he intended to use brute force to forcibly send these ghost infants into the soul gathering bead.

"You little brat! Let go of my children!"

A roar came from the sky above, followed by a powerful force descending from above, thundering towards Yang Haoran below!

In the sky above, there was also an intense battle raging. On one side was an extremely old Old Man, and on the other side were Captain Luo and the serpent demon Bai Xue.

As for Spirit Police Deputy Captain Zhou, he was lying on the ground like Master Wu, with no combat ability left.

The one roaring angrily and attacking Yang Haoran was this Old Man.

Yang Haoran ignored the Old Man's roar. Facing the terrifying force descending from above, he channeled his internal Yin spirit power to rapidly form a protective barrier on the surface of his body.

Boom!!!

The barrier developed cracks but did not completely shatter. Instead, the ghost infants bound by the chains were forcibly pulled into the soul gathering bead under Yang Haoran's control.

Yang Haoran's move managed to forcibly capture all the ghost infants into the soul gathering bead, enraging the Old Man above, who yelled and howled.

"You little bastard! You're asking for death!!!"

Seeing this, the Old Man wanted to attack Yang Haoran again, but he was intercepted by Captain Luo and Bai Xue in the air.

The soul gathering bead rapidly shrank and was then embedded back into the ring. Yang Haoran's body then rose into the air, appearing beside Bai Xue.

Bai Xue was injured and looked somewhat disheveled. Captain Luo was also wounded, but his condition was much better compared to Bai Xue's.

From this, it could be seen that Captain Luo's strength was definitely superior to Bai Xue's.

Bai Xue's current strength had undergone a complete transformation compared to when Yang Haoran had left.

She was a great demon, not a minor demon, and her strength should not be underestimated. The reason she had not displayed her true power upon encountering Yang Haoran was that the previous battle against the black talisman master had severely injured her. Additionally, her body had been sealed in a small wooden hut by a demon suppression talisman, preventing her from recovering. This had led to her continued weakness.

After becoming a Spirit Police, with the heavenly materials and earthly treasures provided by the Spirit Police, and the ability to absorb Heaven and Earth spirit qi to recover, her injuries had fully healed. Her strength had not only returned to its peak but had even surpassed it.

However, the Old Man they were currently facing was not an easy opponent. Not only was Bai Xue injured, but even Captain Luo had sustained injuries.

In contrast, this Old Man's condition was much better compared to the two of them.

"Damn, Underworld Envoy big brother, you arrived just in time. If you had come any later, we might have been wiped out."

Bai Xue glanced at Yang Haoran beside her, then looked towards the Old Man, her expression wary.

From the moment Yang Haoran met Bai Xue until now, he had rarely seen this expression on her face. This alone showed that this Old Man was not an easy opponent, at least for Bai Xue.
