Chapter 378: Retrieving the Cauldron

After handing over their souls, not only Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing, but also a few other Underworld Envoys chose to leave the Underworld. However, the number was extremely small.

Therefore, when the two of them crossed the Naihe Bridge and left the Underworld, they did not encounter many Underworld Envoys on their way out, which was in stark contrast to when they had arrived.

As they passed by the stone pavilion where Meng Po resided, Meng Po glanced at the two of them. However, it was just a glance, and she soon withdrew her gaze to look towards the River of Oblivion beneath the Naihe Bridge.

Just like before, as they passed by Meng Po, Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing paid their respects to her. Yang Haoran took this more openly, as he was more pragmatic, which was determined by his character.

In contrast, Xu Meijing was extremely resistant to this. She was proud and unwilling to bow her head, even if the other party's strength and status were far beyond her current level. This, too, was determined by her character.

Of course, despite her resistance and unwillingness, she was not a stubborn person. She knew what she should and should not do.

Although proud, she was rational. Otherwise, when they had encountered Meng Po earlier, she would not have reminded Yang Haoran to pay his respects to her.

Meng Po did not stop the two from leaving, and they successfully crossed the Naihe Bridge.

Although Meng Po's glance at them seemed casual, both of them sensed a strong oppressive force. However, since they had not done anything illegal or improper in the Underworld, they showed no sign of panic or guilt.

Of course, even if they had done something unforgivable in the Underworld, their attitudes would not have changed, so they remained natural when facing Meng Po's gaze.

After crossing the Naihe Bridge and onto the Yellow Springs Road, Yang Haoran summoned the Ghost Gate again.

In the mortal realm, he could summon the Ghost Gate from anywhere, but after stepping through it, he would only be transported to the Yellow Springs Road, not directly to the Naihe Bridge or into the Underworld.

In the Underworld, he had to be on the Yellow Springs Road to summon the Ghost Gate. Only the Ghost Gate summoned by him would allow him to return to his original location after passing through it.

Other Underworld Envoys could also summon the Ghost Gate, and he could pass through it and be transported, but the final destination would be the original location of the Underworld Envoy who summoned that particular Ghost Gate.

Without a special reason, Yang Haoran would not do such a thing, as it would be troublesome if he were transported to another realm. With his current strength, even if he kept tearing through space, he might not be able to return to Lecheng for years or months.

After summoning the Ghost Gate, the two of them stepped through without hesitation. The Ghost Gate disappeared, and Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing reappeared in the conference room they had left from.

Upon appearing in the conference room, Yang Haoran turned his gaze towards Xu Meijing.

"Back in the Underworld, you had something to tell me?"

Yang Haoran asked this because, before deciding to leave, Xu Meijing had given him a meaningful look, and her words at the time seemed to have a hidden meaning to him.

In the Underworld, there were some things he could not say directly and some questions he could not ask, as he was not sure if their conversation would be overheard by others.

Now that they were back in the mortal realm, he naturally wanted to clarify his inner doubts.

Xu Meijing nodded, then set up a barrier and said, "By my estimation, our item should be ready. Instead of wasting time in the Underworld, it's better for us to do something productive."

"The item is ready?" Yang Haoran's eyes lit up, as he understood the meaning behind Xu Meijing's words.

"According to our agreement, we should be able to retrieve it at this time, but I can't be absolutely certain. You wait here for my message, and I'll go and come back."

After saying this, Xu Meijing removed the restriction barrier, then tore through space and disappeared from the conference room.

After Xu Meijing left, Yang Haoran felt a bit excited. The "item" they were referring to was naturally the soul-refining cauldron, which could be used to refine soul pills.

Compared to the soul-refining cauldron, observing the other Underworld Envoys sparring and practicing in the Underworld seemed insignificant.

Once they had the soul-refining cauldron, he could refine soul pills himself from then on, which would be like having a cheat code in a game. As long as he had the soul-refining cauldron, the gap between him and the senior Underworld Envoys would narrow within a short period, and he might even surpass them, leaving them far behind.

All of this was not a dream. As long as he could possess the soul-refining cauldron, it could all be achieved!

During this trip to the Underworld, he had felt his insignificance in front of the other Underworld Envoys. With his current strength, he was truly not worthy of their attention.

He wanted to quickly increase his Yin spirit power within his body, and the soul pill was a great choice. However, the number of soul pills he could get from the Yin Division was far too little to meet his needs.

However, with the soul-refining cauldron, the situation was different. As long as there were enough materials, he would be able to continuously refine soul pills. This method was risky, but the benefits were obvious.

Thinking of the benefits that the soul-refining cauldron could bring him, he couldn't help but feel a little excited in his heart.

Xu Meijing didn't leave for too long. In less than ten minutes, there was a wave of disturbance in the space of the meeting room, and then a rift opened in the space, and Xu Meijing appeared in the meeting room.

However, when Yang Haoran saw Xu Meijing's solemn face, that little excitement in his heart disappeared.

"Didn't manage to get it done?" Yang Haoran asked with a smile on his face.

Xu Meijing shook his head, sighed softly, and after setting up a restriction barrier, he said, "The process of making the soul-refining cauldron is more difficult than I imagined."

"Did they tell you how much longer it would take?" Yang Haoran asked.

Xu Meijing didn't mention who he asked to make the soul-refining cauldron, and Yang Haoran didn't ask further, because he absolutely trusted Xu Meijing.

In his view, Xu Meijing said this perhaps because the time given to the other party was not enough, and the other party had not completed it within the agreed time.

However, when Xu Meijing heard Yang Haoran's words, he shook his head again.

"You seem to have misunderstood me. What I mean is that the production of the soul-refining cauldron failed, not that the time was insufficient. It seems we have to find a way to find the dark yin stone again."

Xu Meijing's words made Yang Haoran stunned. This result was much worse than he had imagined.

A failed refinement, wasted materials - this was not good news for him. It was no exaggeration to say that this news was disastrous.

If the materials for making the soul-refining cauldron were easier to find, it wouldn't matter. If the materials were wasted, he could just get some more materials.

However, the dark yin stone needed to refine the soul-refining cauldron was not easy to find. It was not even simple to find an extreme yin place, let alone a dark yin stone. Now that the materials had been wasted, finding another dark yin stone would depend on luck, and no one knew when that luck would come.

Although he was surprised and even a little disappointed, Yang Haoran quickly adjusted. He was only dazed for a moment, and then his face regained its smile, though with a hint of helplessness.

"You can still smile?" Xu Meijing frowned slightly, sounding a little dissatisfied.

"It's fine. Since the materials have been wasted, I can only go back to Lecheng and find a way to get some dark yin stones. I can't be dejected just because of one failure, can I?" Yang Haoran said with a smile.

"You have a good attitude, indeed. You seem to take it quite lightly," Xu Meijing said helplessly.

"Heh, I've experienced too many setbacks, if I don't learn to take things lightly, I would have been depressed and jumped off a building long ago, and I wouldn't have lived until today."

Hearing this, Xu Meijing laughed out loud, then said, "Reality has made you feel helpless, but you have to face it with a smile. Your expression now is quite amusing."

After saying this with a laugh, Xu Meijing, under Yang Haoran's surprised gaze, took out an object from the independent space - a cauldron the size of a fist.
