Chapter 355: Joining the Spirit Police

Yang Haoran took a drag of his cigarette, then slowly began, "I suggest you join the Spirit Police."

"Huh?" The serpent demon's face contorted in distress upon hearing Yang Haoran's words.

Observing the serpent demon's reaction, Yang Haoran smiled and continued, "Listen to me first, carefully consider, and then give me your answer."

The serpent demon nodded with a wry smile, refraining from speaking, patiently awaiting Yang Haoran's continuation.

"Although I am the Burial Master of the LechengYin Division, I don't have the power to control everything. While I intervened with the Fu Sect this time, it may seem resolved, but who can guarantee they won't plot against me in the shadows, perhaps by reporting or complaining? If I fall, do you think they'll spare you?"

"Moreover, you're still a demon. Fu Sect isn't the only threat; there are demon hunters you've encountered before, as well as exorcists with various abilities. I've protected you from demon hunters and Fu Sect. If someday I protect you from exorcists, it wouldn't be surprising."

"There are indeed true champions of justice in this world, but they are few. Most hoist the flag of justice for their own interests. Whether they are the former or the latter, in their eyes, you're a demon, and they'll come after you in the name of extermination. How many times can I shield you?"

The serpent demon's smile faded, replaced by a rare seriousness. However, she remained silent, still waiting for Yang Haoran's next words.

"However, if you join the Spirit Police, become one of them, not only will these problems be resolved, but they'll be significantly reduced."

"The Spirit Police are an official force. Once you join, you'll have the backing of the authorities. If someone tries to trouble you, the authorities won't allow it. Your safety will be guaranteed. Plus, you'll receive resources for cultivation from them, a win-win."

Yang Haoran actually had one more point left unsaid. By intervening with the Fu Sect for the serpent demon, it could be a minor or major issue. If Fu Sect starts causing trouble from behind and files complaints, he would undoubtedly face consequences.

However, if the serpent demon joins the Spirit Police, the situation would change. Even if someone from above comes to him, he would have another excuse to absolve himself.

Seeing the serpent demon still contemplating, Yang Haoran continued, "Of course, you can choose not to join the Spirit Police. But you'll be missing a protective umbrella. Even if you don't appear in the human world, you won't necessarily be safe. People will still hunt demons for various reasons, like demon hunters."

"Just now, I merely offered you a suggestion. The choice is yours, and I won't interfere."

After saying this, Yang Haoran remained silent, sipping his tea, awaiting the serpent demon's response.

The serpent demon didn't take long to consider. Before the cigarette burned out, she spoke up.

"I trust Underworld Envoy big brother won't harm me, so I accept your suggestion. Besides, I do need more resources to enhance myself. I can't acquire some resources alone," the serpent demon said.

"Hehe, I'm glad you accept my suggestion," Yang Haoran chuckled and replied.

"After I join the Spirit Police, can I still stay here? I feel safer staying with you," the serpent demon asked, her face once again showing a charming smile.

Yang Haoran nodded without hesitation. "No problem. You can stay as long as you want."

With that, Yang Haoran suddenly produced something—a Death God pendant.

Under the shroud of Yin Qi, the Death God pendant floated in the air from Yang Haoran's hand, then drifted towards the serpent demon before stopping in front of her.

"Underworld Envoy big brother, what are you planning?" the serpent demon asked, puzzled.

"Didn't I just say? Now you're a believer of the Death God, so you'd better wear this pendant around your neck," Yang Haoran chuckled.

The serpent demon smiled charmingly and replied, "But I'm not a believer of the Death God."

"Whether you are a believer of the Death God, who knows? But once you wear it, you'll be a genuine believer of the Death God," Yang Haoran said.

Though seemingly contradictory, Yang Haoran's words held deeper meaning. The serpent demon didn't quite understand Yang Haoran's intentions, but Master Wu, who had been silent, understood.

Whether she was a believer of the Death God was known only to herself. But once she wore the pendant, in the eyes of outsiders, she would be a true believer. However, whether she truly believed or not was her own knowledge, and how could outsiders possibly know?

Yang Haoran gave the serpent demon the Death God pendant as a way to leave an escape route. If someday someone from above came for the serpent demon, he would have another reason to absolve himself.

Though the serpent demon didn't fully grasp Yang Haoran's intentions, she obediently wore the Death God pendant around her neck.

"Is this your way of giving me a gift?" the serpent demon asked with a seductive smile.

Yang Haoran chuckled and didn't answer, instead pulling out his mobile phone and dialing Captain Luo's number.

"Captain Luo, Bai Xue has agreed to join your Spirit Police," Yang Haoran said directly once the call connected.

The excitement of Captain Luo immediately came through the phone.

"Really? That's fantastic! Uh... can she come over now? I'll send someone to pick her up!" Captain Luo's words were somewhat jumbled with excitement.

"No need, I'll have someone send her over right away," Yang Haoran said with a smile.

"Thank you so much! By the way, we must gather tonight. I'll have Deputy Captain Zhou book a place right away."

After hanging up, Yang Haoran looked at Old Wu and said, "Old Wu, call one of our brothers in and have them escort Bai Xue to the Spirit Police headquarters."

Master Wu nodded respectfully, then left his seat and dialed a number on his mobile phone.

"Underworld Envoy big brother, is it really so urgent? Should I go now?" the serpent demon asked, looking at Yang Haoran with a smile.

"Since Captain Luo wants you to come now, there must be a reason. Just go, and if you have any problems, you can contact me anytime," Yang Haoran said with a smile.

"What should I be aware of?" the serpent demon asked.

"Promise to serve the Spirit Police in the future, but during your service, they can't restrict your personal freedom or implant any secret techniques or curses in you. As for compensation, you can negotiate with Captain Luo yourself."

Yang Haoran paused for a moment, then added, "And remember, you must tell Captain Luo that you'll work as you wish. You can leave anytime, and they can't force you to stay."

The serpent demon nodded in understanding. At that moment, a Night Watch member entered the living room.

Taking off her hat, she revealed a cute face.

"Boss, Master Wu," the woman greeted Yang Haoran with a smile.

Yang Haoran was already familiar with her, whether from intercepting the Spirit Police for Xiu Juan or bringing him and Bai Xue out of the mountains some time ago, she left a deep impression on him.

"Be more serious, don't always be so frivolous," Old Wu scolded her.

The woman's smile disappeared instantly, replaced by a serious expression.

Yang Haoran glanced at her, then at Master Wu, and smiled meaningfully. He felt that there might be some relationship between Master Wu and this woman. Otherwise, she wouldn't appear in his sight again.

"If I'm not mistaken, your name is Zhu Xiaoyu, right?" Yang Haoran smiled and asked the young woman who seemed to be around twenty years old.

"Yes! My name is Zhu Xiaoyu! I didn't expect Boss to know my name!" Zhu Xiaoyu was both happy and surprised. While responding to Yang Haoran, a smile appeared involuntarily on her face.

However, as soon as the smile appeared, she realized something was wrong and quickly restrained it.

"No need to be surprised. I remember the name of every Night Watch member. Can you drive?" Yang Haoran asked with a smile.

"Yes! I'm an experienced driver! I can drive any vehicle!" Zhu Xiaoyu answered respectfully.

"Good. I'll give you a phone number. Take this lady to her destination and then bring her back. Is that okay?" Yang Haoran asked again.

"No problem!" Zhu Xiaoyu replied loudly and confidently.

"Alright, then I'll leave this to you," Yang Haoran said. Then he looked at the serpent demon and reminded her, "Seal off your Demonic Qi and power fluctuations."

"Don't worry, Underworld Envoy big brother, I won't cause you any trouble." The serpent demon smiled charmingly but still followed Yang Haoran's instructions to seal off her Demonic Qi and power fluctuations.

"It's always good to be cautious. I'll be waiting for your return here."
