Chapter 344-345 On How to Conquer System Fairies and Make Them Your Wives 344-345

Yanxia Province, Guyan Town, Xiaoxiang Clinic.

Even now, Xiaoxiang Clinic remained the most popular medical clinic in Guyan Town. From early morning, a long queue of patients, rich and poor alike, waited patiently for their turn to see the renowned Physician Nan.

It was a rule of the clinic: everyone waited their turn, no exceptions. Even cutting in front of a beggar would result in being refused treatment.

By noon, the queue had finally dwindled.

Nan Xiaoxiang sat at her desk, stretching languidly and sipping tea.

“Miss, your father left another message,” her attendant said, pouring her more tea. “Besides those young masters from the provincial city, two families from the Eastern Region have sent invitations, hoping to court you.”

“Just tell Father to refuse them, as usual.”

“But your father… he’s worried about you,” the attendant sighed. “He’s rejected so many proposals on your behalf, even from families we could only dream of being connected to. And you’re twenty-two now, Miss. He can’t help but be anxious.”

Nan Xiaoxiang had heard these words countless times.

Most women her age already had children.

It was understandable that her father wanted grandchildren. And she knew he was being lenient, allowing her to focus on her work, never pressuring her to marry.

But seeing his hair turning white with worry, she felt a pang of guilt.

“…It’s just…” she sighed, rubbing her temples.

“Do you truly dislike all those suitors, Miss?” the attendant asked curiously. “Many of them are handsome and virtuous young men, even talented cultivators. Is there truly no one who catches your eye? Or perhaps… you already have someone in mind?”

Nan Xiaoxiang’s hand froze, her eyes dimming slightly. She murmured, as if to herself, “…Someone in mind? Who knows…”

Seeing her ambiguous response, the attendant didn’t press further and quietly left.

Nan Xiaoxiang idly flipped through a medical text, then went back to her room to rest.

As she entered her room and stretched wearily, a voice suddenly echoed from behind her.

“Something on your mind, Miss Nan?”

She froze, then relaxed and said, her voice calm and steady, “It’s tiring, having to constantly be on guard against… perverts who enter a lady’s room without permission.”

“…Hearing your sharp tongue, I know you’re alright.”

Chen Yin sat on her bed, casually flipping through her medical text.

Nan Xiaoxiang glared at him. “I thought you were busy dealing with Chosen Ones, Young Master Chen. What brings you to my humble clinic?”

“Just checking if anyone has stolen my wife.” He moved closer to her.

“I’m not your wife,” she retorted, moving to the table and sitting down, putting some distance between them.

Chen Yin coughed awkwardly and sat on the edge of the bed. “How long have you been following me?”

“Since this morning.”

“Then…” she hesitated, her eyelashes fluttering slightly, “you heard our conversation?”

“What conversation?” He looked at her, a playful smile on his lips.

Annoyed by his teasing, she said, “My father has found several suitors for me. I’m just… overwhelmed by the choices. So many handsome and virtuous young men…”

“Do you have any favorites?” he asked casually.

“Several,” she said, her voice a playful mix of annoyance and amusement.

Chen Yin chuckled, seeing her pout.

“What’s so funny?”

“If you want to see me jealous, just say so. I can put on a show for you,” he grinned.

Knowing he could see through her little act, she glared at him and turned away, pretending to read.

The room was silent.

She couldn’t focus, her gaze drifting towards him, her attendant’s words echoing in her mind.

“…You seem tired, Miss Nan. Let me give you a massage.”

Chen Yin’s hands gently kneaded her shoulders, and she didn’t resist.

“Why are you so docile today?”

“You would have done it anyway, even if I protested,” she said, her voice slightly weary, “and my shoulders are sore. Let’s see what you’re capable of.”

“I’ll make sure you’re satisfied.”

He started massaging her shoulders, his touch firm but gentle, his hands not wandering as they usually did.

Nan Xiaoxiang sighed contentedly. “Your technique is quite good. You must have a lot of practice.”

“It’s a secret technique,” he said, his voice filled with mock seriousness. “Only my Master and you have experienced it.”

“Not even Qingying?”

“No.”

“Where is she, by the way?”

Chen Yin didn’t answer.

Nan Xiaoxiang saw through his silence, but she just smiled faintly. “I haven’t seen her all day. I assume she’s… occupied?”

“She was the one who… initiated it,” he said. Qingying had been surprisingly demanding last night, her anger fueled by his long absence. It had taken him all night to… pacify her. She was probably still asleep.

“Are you angry?” He glanced at her.

Nan Xiaoxiang rolled her eyes. “Why would I be angry?”

It was your choice, Nan Xiaoxiang. What’s there to be angry about?

Seeing Nan Xiaoxiang’s downcast mood, Chen Yin was about to say something to cheer her up when she spoke first.

“How long… have we known each other, Young Master Chen?”

Chen Yin thought for a moment, excluding their time in the various realms and secret spaces.

“A little over a year?”

“Has it been that long?” She gazed out the window, a wistful expression on her face. “Time flies…”

Chen Yin found her melancholic tone unusual. She wasn’t usually so sentimental.

“It’s been so long… since you first… kidnapped me.”

Chen Yin blushed, remembering their first encounter. “Let’s not talk about that embarrassing incident, shall we?”

“Why not?” she chuckled. “Are you still trying to deny it?”

“No… it’s just… awkward to think about now.”

Looking back, kidnapping her while she was bathing, then dragging her off to treat her injuries…

It had been a rather… unconventional way to start a relationship.

“You completely redefined my understanding of ‘shameless’ that day,” she said, her lips curving into a gentle smile as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “And you haven’t changed a bit. Still as shameless, lecherous, arrogant, and… handsy as ever.”

Chen Yin coughed. “Thank you for the compliment. But you haven’t changed much either, Miss Nan.”

“Really?” Her eyes lit up, a hint of curiosity in them. “What do you… think of me, Young Master Chen?”

“You’re… unforgettable.”

“Because of my looks? Or my temperament?”

“Neither,” he said seriously, his gaze meeting hers, “because of your stubbornness. True stubbornness is rare. Most people give up when faced with the impossible. But you… you insist on healing the sick, on caring for the world, on pursuing the impossible. Even when we first met, a mere mortal facing a cultivator, you were calm and composed, treating everyone with the same kindness and respect. That’s rare. We’re all biased, but you, Miss Nan… rich or poor, young or old, mortal or cultivator… you only see two kinds of people: the healthy, and those who need your help.”

“I rarely admire anyone,” he continued, his voice softening, “but you, Miss Nan, you’re truly admirable. Even if you weren’t so beautiful, I would still want to be your friend.”

“Do you… really think so highly of me?”

“You deserve it,” he said sincerely.

Nan Xiaoxiang was silent, her eyes soft and gentle in the afternoon sunlight.

Chen Yin, sensing her unusual quietness, asked, “Are you alright, Miss Nan? You seem… melancholic. That’s not like you.”

“You overestimate me, Young Master Chen,” she said with a faint smile. “I’m just a woman, after all. Even the title of ‘Divine Physician’ doesn’t change that. I also have my worries and sorrows… And sometimes… I dream of finding someone… someone to share my life with…” She paused, then chuckled self-deprecatingly. “Which woman doesn’t dream of a loving husband and a happy family? I’ve rejected so many suitors, thinking I was too devoted to my work. But now… perhaps I just haven’t met the right person.”

Chen Yin suddenly felt nervous, a strange and unfamiliar sensation. He hadn’t felt this way in a long time.

“But my father is right,” she continued, her gaze lowering slightly, her cheeks flushing a delicate pink, “walking alone is tiring. It’s time for me to… settle down. Young Master Chen,” she looked up at him, her eyes meeting his, “I’m tired… Will you… give me a place to rest?”

Chen Yin’s mouth opened and closed, but no words came out. After a long silence, he finally asked, his voice barely a whisper,

“Are you… sure?”

“Yes.”

“You won’t regret this?”

“I never regret my choices,” she said softly.

Chen Yin looked at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of love and concern. He knew what she was thinking. The difference between a mortal and a cultivator. Their lifespans, their aspirations. A mortal choosing to be with a cultivator was a big decision.

They had both been hesitant, afraid of the consequences.

She had been afraid of his fickleness, and he had been afraid of making a choice that would bind her to him forever.

But she had made her choice.

And he felt a sudden surge of… panic. Like a schoolboy being confessed to by the most popular girl in school. Nan Xiaoxiang was everything he had ever wanted in a woman: beautiful, intelligent, kind, and compassionate. And even now, facing him with such a bold and straightforward confession, she was calm and composed, her gaze steady and unwavering.

He couldn’t refuse her. No one could.

He straightened his robes and bowed respectfully.

“Then… I am honored by your trust, Miss Nan. I accept your offer. I swear, I will never leave you, never abandon you, never betray you.”

Nan Xiaoxiang smiled, her face radiant, her beauty eclipsing everything around them.

“Then, Young Master Chen,” she said, her eyes sparkling, “will you do one last thing for me?”
