      Eh, it depends. There's some good cultivation novels done by western authors, just as there's good magic and knight novels written by chinese authors.
      Although the latter is personally much rarer than the former.
      In the end, it's all just a trope that anyone can write about freely.
      Yea theres probably certain intricacies missing if you read xianxias from western authors but most chinese authors don't even write xianxias like Er Gen does anyway lol.
      Now whether this novel is one of the good ones is hard to say, I will try for a bit I guess.
