There are books that you enjoy coming back to frequently. There's books you pick up and have no issue dropping. There are some you wish you never dirtied your eyes on. Then there's books like this one. You start reading before it's finished being written and when you catch up to the releases you realize that waiting for each update makes me want to scream 😱.

This is actually a really good novel. The MC perfectly fits the image one would expect of a mature adult in a child's body. He knows when to press forward and when to take a step back. He is willing to suffer some losses for the bigger picture and long-term goals. The novel's very easy to read with great TL. I didn't even know when I caught up until the button wasn't there anymore.

Anyways, this novel is "Homie"-approved & definitely recommended 👍🏽

Does kill the general and the other guy later in the novel? Only then would it be worth reading. I ain't gonna waste my time on this novel if the protag ain't even that ruthless.

Actually good novel so far (chapter 80).
It has some cliché elements, but it's overall a smooth martial arts novel set in older times.

Recommanded to read if you like the genre

Edit: I have now fully caught up with this novel (Chapter 78). It's really good; would definetly reccomend this.

MC comes from a high technologically advanced original world which developed an optimal path for Martial Arts. They used VR/Full Dive type tech everywhere to be able go train properly. It was a world where these martial artists managed to unlock close to the maximum amount of strength their body could handle. He was originally one of the strongest people back then, but got mysteriously transmigrated in his 30s as he was getting close to his strongest state. It appears that the reason behind his transmigration will likely be explored eventually, as there are already some early links to his past life and he has some early theories but is too weak to properly figure out anything yet.

This world appears more like a normal cultivation world, but with a MUCH higher cap for everyone strength wise which MC eventually realises is due to the fact that the genetics of everyone on this world is just naturally at a much higher level, thus the maximum cap of their bodies is insanely higher, as mentioned in the synopsis.

Imo the best part of this novel is how the MC acts. He isn't at all ruthless or evil, but he is smart and clearly showcases his maturity with his actions. He knows that he can't act as he pleases when he doesn't have the strength to, so is fine with taking a step back and feigning compliance or acceptance until he is strong enough to fight back. Most novels with transmigrated MCs make them act impulsively/childlike, or have them conflicted about their new body but this isn't an issue here. When MC first transmigrated (which is skipped over) his body was in a weakened state for a while and he was cared for by his Mother and a few others. That, combined with the previous memories of his new body allows him to quickly accept his new identity and treat his new family as truly his, which is good. Unlike what the synopsis seems to suggest, his family are not a major part of the novel. Like the comment below me, when I read that I assumed things about the novel too, but thankfully it avoids all the common tropes.

He has his Mother and a younger sister, but they are very minor parts. He cares for them, and wants to improve their life, but that's taken care of quickly, and without the usual random delays or troubles with it. His mother is a bit sick and weakened after having to work multiple jobs and take loans to care for MC after his initial transmigration, so MC wants to help her out, which gets done very easily. His younger sister is also a very minor character, just mentioned a few times and is just a small child so there's no annoying obsession with him or anything. He cares for his branch family too, since the head took good care of him/his family throughout the past, after his father's death, so there is no issues with them. There is a brief potential issue with the main family, which is what MC purposefully tries to cause, but it gets resolved by the main family head being a smart and decisive man.

There are no arrogant young masters or the like. Even the initial potential rival in the early chapters doesn't go as you'd generally expect either, which is good.

All in all, its very much worth it to read just for the fact that the MC actually acts his age, is smart and cautious enough as necessary. The fact that the story itself is interesting is just a good bonus, especially the small hints about links between his previous life and his transmigration which will likely be explored more in the future.

He isn't ruthless? So he'll let his enemies live? Plus most of the novels I've read of transmigrated genre the mc quickly accepts his transmigrated family. So if you know a novel where the mc doesn't, tell me. It'll be refreshing.
