Well, almost a day ago I finished reading the novel "Yuan Tianzun," or as it was translated into English, "Yuan's Ascension." It was a pretty decent read. The power levels were well established, the comprehension of the Dao, which was the main focus of the novel, was also quite solid, and the cultivation paths, which at the beginning were said to be 2, but by the end it was actually revealed that there are
, were also quite solid since it can be said that the main character inadvertently advanced in all of them. The relationships were handled in a fairly satisfactory way, all the plot holes that were initially explained in a vague manner were addressed, and the why and how the main character was taken to another "world" or "universe," or whatever you want to call it, were solved. Finally, it was revealed at the end that in the protagonist’s ascension to power, the most important inheritances he managed to obtain were made by the other two protagonists from the author’s previous two stories called [洪主] and [寒天帝], which are literally set in the same universe, multiverse, or whatever you want to consider it. It is by no means necessary to read the two previous stories; you can still enjoy this book a lot just by reading it alone. However, the author in his final words emphasized that reading the two previous books will make the experience even more enjoyable.

I believe that I have covered all the good points of this xianxia, which at first seemed like it would be xuanhuan. It is a story that, at least in the beginning, breaks or, rather, avoids falling into the cliché box that we consider typical of xianxia. The plots of arrogant young masters were almost nonexistent, the MC's origin clan wasn’t full of useless people, but rather just simple people who were opportunistic and pursued their own interests, as is portrayed throughout the story when altercations over treasures, inheritances, etc. occur as the MC ventures further.

Two things that I personally didn’t like much about the story are the extremely massive sizes of the cultivators. I’ve never understood the appeal of why, if a person is absolutely enormous, their power must also be enormous. I see it as something superficial and even bordering on the shallow. I can't empathize at all with that fantasy logic of xianxia novels, although in this novel it was emphasized a few times that if the body was too large, there was a tremendous energy consumption, so they only kept them at a height of a few thousands of millions li, which were still hundreds of millions of kilometers... Yolks40 . The second point is that the battles went from being about sublime techniques and skills to just being faster, stronger, more indescribable, more energy recovery, and therefore more resistance, etc. I think these are the only two "clichés" that this novel couldn’t transcend or avoid, so I’ll let it slide, but they still bothered me a bit.

The ending, although somewhat similar to an open ending, can also be considered a closed ending. It's a bit difficult to describe what kind of ending it had; if I had to say one, I would call it an open-ended one.

"Yuan Tianzun" or "Yuan's Ascension" was a very pleasant story to read. It's true that there was a point in the story where the protagonist seemed too complacent and didn’t seem to be seeking "perfection," but in reality, it was because his environment couldn’t offer him much more. When he left that environment, the story escalated and kept escalating quite a bit. The protagonist's attitude of being cautious and measuring the risks, avoiding them when there was no absolute certainty, started to change from a certain arc onwards
, and he becomes a little more daring, a seeker of risky opportunities, even if there is a high chance of death, without crossing the line into stupidity or impulse.

Overall, the story and the protagonist's talent go on an upward trajectory from literally the beginning of the novel, so don't worry about what other comments say about the "useless" Dao affinity of the MC. Keep reading, and you'll see what that "useless" affinity turns into. There are several life-or-death moments, and yes, the MC takes risks of dying several times, and it feels like there's no way out, but he manages to overcome every single one of them, even if he has to make sacrifices. Don’t pay too much attention to other comments, and enjoy the reading; it won’t disappoint you.

By the way, there’s neither romance nor, consequently, a harem. There were two women who fell in love with the MC, but he ignored them as it wasn’t really his goal, although he appreciated the bond he had formed with them. In the MC's own words:
"Study the Dao at dawn and let the Dao be the last thing I comprehend before sleeping"
    - Wu Yuan
(I think it was something like this he thought internally after rejecting them, lmaooo)

Since I don't want to edit the wiki out of respect for the true translator of this novel who is bringing it to English and out of fear of confusing terms with him, here are the power levels after the Immortal Sovereign realm, since the True Saint realm that appears in the Yuan's Ascension wiki is not entirely correct:

Before giving my final rating, here are all the prompts I used in ChatGPT to enjoy the reading of the raws better, staying completely faithful to what was accustomed in the English translation:

The prompts I left are the most important ones. I have many more, but they are for very specific cases, and I believe they are easy to create on your own. I placed the most important ones.

A finished story, and thus one more book read, dear Daoist companions. I hope you all enjoy the story as much as I did. I look forward to seeing you in other books! boast satisfied

    It's a poison in disguise, that's why:

The best defense is an attack, this is a world of the strong, not cowards who are afraid of their shadow.

Specifically, the MC is unworthy of attention, his status is "from another world" for show, it even works the other way around because we, as readers from Earth, do not feel even the slightest sense of intimacy, because the MC is from some super boring planet.

I will keep silent about how the character of this MC rejects the reader.

Some negative emotions, there is no feeling of pleasure at all, even if it is a deadly poison, some books can give pleasure, but this is just garbage, I don't even want to call it garbage because it is a humiliation for other garbage.

It was enough for 30 chapters, 2.8/5.

Better read "I'm a villain, not a devil"

Currently, I’m on Chapter 206 but I have to say the MC’s powers is disappointing as hell. With all the grandiose statements and dialogues throughout these last 40 chapters, I expect he would get a power that is otherworldly and unique compared to other chinese novels’s cultivation system out there but he actually got a Earth Elemental Body what the f#ck? An Earth Elemental Body that is just a basic ass physique element in other novels. Not to mention, it’s not even Five Elemental Body but just earth itself. Trash af. Disappointing. One might mistaken to think that this novel would an extremely huge cosmology and uniquely powerful cultivation system in this novel due to all the GRANDIOSE STATEMENTS and DIALOGUES. But in reality, the cosmology and power system are nothing but empty trash garbage lmao. It’s a scam novel that stated a grandiose vision but actually show the retard a trashass reality instead.

Even Han Jue’s most trash enemy has better power than this shiet. With the Eldritch this and Eldritch that statements, homie got a Earth Element Physique in the end. AHAHAHAHAHA. Moreover, he claimed that he read shit tons of webnovels in his past life yet he acted all clueless like a retard when he first encounters Qi which by the way, is the most BASIC KNOWLEDGE when it comes to Fantasy Chinese Novels and then when Realm Master explained the different type of cultivation systems, he still acted like a retard despite the most cliché power systems out there already being stated. Therefore, where the f#ck did all the his-so called knowledges regarding chinese webnovels go? Plothole his mother larger than pussythot pass around in the NBA.

Earth Elemental Physique HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Trash Af, ain’t gon lie, imma just read until the latest chapter then just drop it. Now that I found that the novel itself is a self proclaim scam story, I’m just read it to pass time and no longer take it seriously. Waste all my time creating a personal wiki library for this novel just so in the end, that it turned out to be not worth it to stay in the Private Wiki Library. Trash don’t deserve to have wiki page simple as that. Although, I called it trash since the power system is a scam itself lol.

How many of you wanna bet with me when those so called Outsiders or Higher Level Cultivators from the Greenridge Macrocosm or whatever come to the Summerpeak World, there are gonna be shit tons of geniuses with Unique Power and Talents unlike the MC? Honestly, this author is a huge scammer lmao. No wonder I was thinking the reason why this novel got rated barely less 3.5 on MTLnovels and now I know the reason why lol. I bet there are other people who got pissed off like me about the trash ass powers and rated the novel low.

Seriously, Earth Element Physique? Come on, do better. I don’t expect to read the most basic Power System novel in 2024, to the point I though I went back to 2015 reading the “Tales of Demons & Gods” novel all over again. But at least, that novel have a decent power system bruh.

I lose count on how many basic ass chinese novels that use basic ass Elemental Power System for their MC. That’s why I’m current rant my ass off about it and some of yall may wonder why I write essays about it. This is the reason why. AHHHHH I’m frustrated. I have nothing to read nowadays. Sick and tired of basic ass novels.

      Update: I’m in Chapter 235.

It’s getting f#cking annoying, this trash keep on yapping his mother inner monologue all day long. It’s one thing about the yapping part but the most retard shit I’ve ever seen is the fact this trash doesn’t seek to cultivate the best techniques available to him but chose the most trashass of them all like a retard. He has a Second Degree Eldritch Tattoos which he himself stated that he could cultivate the Advanced Ether Arts but he decided to cultivate the Basic Ether Art: Eldritch Form instead like a retard.

What I hate the most is when a retard author is trying to make a plot where he stated his MC has this amount of knowledges and read chinese webnovels blahblahblah but when he starts cultivating, the retard suddenly became braindead all of sudden. And suddenly he doesn’t seem to know any knowledges about power systems from webnovels that he read before. He doesn’t even know the most basic ass knowledges regarding Qi which existed in 99% of chinese webnovels out there.

Update. I've caught up with all the chaps. And yes earth is literally trash lol I hate it. His second body also has wood attribute body which is another trash lol. But longetivity is at least better than the celestial body dao which is like 99% defending. So he hides in his turtle shell and wins matches by endurance and exhausting others qi. Others don't have more mystical powers. They all have trash like water and fire or lightning. The author is building everything up gradually. His third law besides wood is space. And he comprehends it really early and has high talent for it so it's finally getting good. He's finally beginning to touch on greater laws so he's using space to comprehend life. This is build up over 200-300 chaps. He goes from ordinary in the greendridge macrocosm step by step building up from lesser law to intermediate law to greater law. The buildup is not bad at all and the satisfaction at the end is quite good. He's extremely powerful right now and comprehending life law which is a greater law. I have a feeling he may attempt multiple greater laws which will be built up over many more chaps. I thought celestial body dao might not be bad but imagine having celestial body dao and only being good at defense. That's stupid. Celestial body dao should be able to be used for attack and it should feel like throwing planets at others. Anyway the powers are trash for the most part but the author seems to be setting up good shit for the future. And currently he's comprehending life and space so it's getting better. I hope he doesn't get back to trash earth n shit lol.

        second update..
According to latest chaps he's now comprehending laws that go against heaven and earth. He's very likely going to comprehend stuff way beyond earth and wood now. Maybe creation, destruction, chaos etc.

Are you really responding to this retard who wrote so much about he book he doesn't like, and caught up on a book he supposedly doesn't like? Lol. I like the novel, Yuan's Ascension. Was I disappointed at the earth body talent at first? Yes, but after readingfor a while, I grew to understand the author's intention, and I must admit, I'm sold. Rather than have an MC with heaven breaking talent right from the onset whose abilities will have to be nerfed later on or forgotten after a while since when you reach the peak, the only way left is down, he chose gradual growth. I love it. It's nothing new, but it is wholesome. I would recommend this book any day anytime. If you do not like it, then I guess you do not possess destiny with this scripture. Nothing more than that.
