I've read until chapter 385 and i'm dropping it
Why? mostly because of how worthless/useless cultivators are in this novel and because i can't stand the author's obsession with Journey to the West and buddhism anymore, the first 350+ chapters of the novel were the mc acting like a mortal, overusing the "misunderstanding" cliche, quoting Journey to the West and shocking cultivators with his treasures/food, it was fun but at some point becomes pretty boring.
Quite sad i don't get to read what happens with Daji and the Phoenix (btw, 385 chapters in and she's still nameless.. looks like she's not as important as quoting Journey to the West and shocking cultivators with food).

Stupidest Mc ever

For me this is the best misunderstanding novel i've ever read

I came to read this story because they promised something similar to "I Turn Out to Be a Grand Master" (GM). The result is disappointment. Someone said that "I'm Actually a Cultivation Bigshot" (BSh) is an original story, and "GM" is an imitation. If so ... then the copy has surpassed the original, and by a wide margin.
Let me clarify right away that both stories have a number of identical "event triggers". At the same time, the result was very different. For example, look at two cooks who were given ground beef, pepper, salt, an egg, and green onions. They mixed it all and cooked it. One serves fried cutlet and the other serves tartare. The ingredients are the same, but the taste will be very different.
So, the names "GM" and "BSh" turned out to be talking about the content. In "BSh" the hero is a "uncultured upstart". Why do I say that? This is a story of arrogance and contempt. He rewards people who are kind to him with rubbish. You are not mistaken. Rubbish. His discarded sword sketch helped the elder to break through, but the paper was destroyed. They came to the hero with respect and gratitude. He thought they admired painting. Did he give them a new drawing? No, why? Then the hero makes a bow and he is left with several pieces of bamboo. The hero wants to burn them, but another cultivator asks for them. The girl brought him gifts, after which the hero thought that he needed to thank her. Well, since she wants to take this garbage, then let him take it. And ... that's all. Just look at this. He didn’t ask her to chop fresh beautiful bamboo or give some seedlings. Not. He thinks it's okay to give back with rubbish. You don't need more! Of course, his trash is a great treasure for cultivators. I have nothing against this, but the hero does not know that this is a treasure. It's literally rubbish for him. Accordingly, his attitude only makes me indignant. This guy is ignorant and arrogant. That's why, I don't want to read about him. The story itself is pretty sloppy too. To retell Journey to the West again? Seriously? If every Russian writer will retell "War and Peace" in his stories, and every American - "Gone with the Wind" ... This is disgusting. Side characters act in the same way and at some point you start to get confused, because apart from their name nothing separates them from each other.

Against this background, look at "GM". A good-natured and open guy. He really behaves like a great master. They bring him gifts and he thinks, "What's wrong with these guys? Do they value calligraphy and painting so much? Okay, then I'll try to give the best. In the end, it doesn't cost me anything to paint one or two works." He brings them more than he gets himself. The picture, which gives enlightenment not just once, but paves the way for an easy way, becomes a compass for the whole process of self-improvement. Spiritual companions and an artifact that helps predict troubles and defend in time. He does everything with his own hands and with humility and gratitude. When a great artifact from the gifts of the system is noticed in his possession, the hero at first worries that he might be stolen, but immediately finds peace of mind with the thoughts "come what may, I am still just mortal." The story is more accurate. There are not thousands of words about the Chinese classics, but two phrases about ridiculing immortality without humanity show his kindness more than three empty chapters with the help of the girl from "BS". In GM, each character is different. They have their own interests and hobbies. For comparison, in "BSh" everyone comes to the hero only to eat his snacks.
The stories are similar, but so different. "BSh" is an unrefined smoldering coal and "GM" is a faceted sparkling diamond. Understand correctly, none of the stories is deep or great to be preserved in history. It's just for fun, but one is really relaxing and pleasant to read, while the other leaves only an unpleasant annoyance.
PS: If your taste matches mine, you can also try reading "Beware of the chicken" (look on the royal road). There are few chapters (about 70), but the story is relaxing.
