But... This cover was chosen by whoever uploaded it here, not the author... The novel's cover is different, much more beautiful... :(

Supposedly a great story, though I haven't read it yet. Cover has nothing to do with it and is not the novel's actual cover.

Daoist Inkdrunkwanderer's review — I Pulled Out Excalibur

This is one of those rare stories that reminds you why you started reading fantasy in the first place.

At a glance, it might feel familiar...a boy from the slums, a dream of becoming a knight, a voice in his head, abnormal talent. But beyond those surface similarities, the story quickly establishes its own identity.

The world is harsh and deeply unfair. Power is hoarded, talent is suppressed, and ideals like honor and chivalry are often treated as weaknesses rather than virtues. Against that backdrop, the protagonist, Najin, chooses to believe in those ideals anyway...and that’s what makes this story stand out.

Unlike many modern protagonists who reject concepts like honor in favor of pragmatism, Najin embraces them fully. And the story doesn’t treat that as foolish. Instead, it actively shows why those ideals matter. Through his journey—and more importantly, through the journeys of the people around him...the idea of knighthood is rebuilt into something compelling and worth believing in.

The side characters are easily one of the strongest aspects of the novel. Each arc introduces new characters with their own struggles, goals, and growth. These aren’t just supporting roles...they’re stories of their own, often shaped and inspired by Najin’s presence. His talent doesn’t just make him strong; it changes the people around him, pushing them to confront their own failures, ideals, and limits. meme_7

Najin himself is extremely talented, almost overwhelmingly so. Normally, that would remove tension, but here it’s handled well. The story isn’t just about whether he will succeed....it’s about how his existence influences others and what kind of world is built around that strength.

The emotional execution is also excellent. The story balances hype moments, character growth, and emotional payoffs very well. It’s easy to get invested...not just in Najin, but in everyone he meets along the way. gosling2

There are a few minor drawbacks. The worldbuilding, while present, isn’t fully fleshed out yet and can feel a bit vague at times. There are also some pseudo-harem elements that feel slightly out of place and don’t add much to the story.

But overall, those issues are small compared to what the novel does right.

This is a story about knights....about ideals, growth, and the impact one person can have on others. And it delivers on that promise exceptionally well. acinema

Some ideals are worth believing in...especially when the world denies them.
