          Perhaps I misunderstood something, but judging by the text, magic is going through hard times. Of course, it's far from a total decline, but it's obvious that the mages have weakened. This is mentioned more than once by the main character himself. The mages are strong and influential, but far from the peak of their power. So we don't have a Golden Age here, but at least an Era of Stagnation.

              He uses the Wow effect. + He is not just a Fire Mage or an Ice Mage. He is a Mage of everything, and the Mage he revealed himself to wanted to dissect him for that.

              I'm usually not one to agree with Mac's hiding their power or identity but I don't mind this case for multiple reasons. With MCs personality he hates unnecessary drama and mages in this world carry a kind of stigma, not only do most churches hate them but most of the world believe they're downright evil people (which is probably true). Naturally MC would wanna avoid this. There's also the fact that he's not very strong, he can be overwhelmed by an organized force with information on his capabilities, keeping magic hidden insures there's always a hidden blade during his fights.               its just logical he hides it for now in order to accomplish his goals. Besides he uses magic in almost every fight, just not the flashy stuff. It should be remembered that he's a "ruined character" his mage build is completely f#cked so it's unavoidable.

      Because it’s dangerous the main character mentioned earlier how after showing he can use multiple colors (elements) he was nearly lobotomised be a mage then later on against the first big enemy the dark mage he was surprised seeing the main character use grey magic (wind magic) I’m guessing it won’t be good if people catch sight even once and spread rumors of a multiple color user mage
      And he’s not hiding it he’s just not using it he uses it plenty but only in situations where he needs to otherwise he uses his sword
