A nice read.

I never expected it to change my life philosophy, and it didn't. It's a usual Toika novel, a pleasant and fun adventure, with a few surprises. A great novel to relax with.

It would seem that a book about a powerful protagonist who's paranoid about his mortality would get stale, but that wasn't the case for me. (Not really a surprise. Toika is a good and experienced writer, if you look past the simple premises that his novels have)

I'd recommend to read it first and not overly stress over the opinions of others, so as to avoid bias. Some will like it and some won't, but I believe it's worth checking out if you have free time.

And to give another perspective to the complaints from some readers below:

The main character, Evan, grows throughout the novel, into someone worthy of being the mc, having what he has, and being with who he is. He did work extremely hard for it all, after all.

While some may complain that he's too paranoid, there's a very solid reason for that. He definitely wasn't wrong. His "extra" complex is also just a part of his character, don't let it overshadow his other traits.

It is more of a slice of life fantasy in the overall tone of the story.

The missing chapters were updated, so that's nice. It's complete now.

Wonder what chapter the translation becomes better? It's readable thanks to my reading adaptability and experience but it feels quite uncomfortable. I'm currently at chapter 36.

E1 : Currently at chapter 83. The translation has either gotten better or I'm just finally adapted to that quality. When will Evan get rid of his 'Extra' attitude. It's gotten a bit annoying tbh.

E2 : The translation is pretty good now. I noticed that around chapter 90. News! Evan finally realized that he is stronger than normal at chapter 168! Unfortunately his reasoning is that people of that world are somehow weaker than when he compared them to in-game characters. So his newly added goal is to train and make mankind stronger than they currently are. In Shine's (maybe, cause it wasn't specified but Shine is the most likely to say it) word :

“Because you can’t accept that you are superior to others, you are now trying to elevate the others to a level that suits you forcibly. No matter what, there couldn’t be a person stronger than Evan.”

E3 : Even though it's only a little, Evan finally improved at chapter 188.

'Don't devalue yourself, Evan. It's rude to others who acknowledge and look up to you.'

Evan recalled Leo's words again in the warm air. His stern yet caring words seemed to release Evan's twisted ego a little.

E4 : The translation that has finally become better has once again fallen to shit starting around chapter 180-190. Its becoming better starting from around chapter 210-220.

E5 : At chapter 247! Finally! Evan got rid of his 'Extra' ego!!!!

Slice of life with an overpowered mc. Story gets repetitive after 100 chapters and the most annoying of all is the mc underestimates himself. I mean, I do understand why but his dense-ness is on a whole other level compared to those protagonists in a romance anime
- Overall 5/10, writing quality is understandable and the characters are well written. If you have an inhumane patience then this may be a good read to you

I like this kind of story, where protag gets isekaied to a game or novel and just tries to survive. I’ve read trash of count family. Any other recommendations??
