I feel like a simp is a perfect way to describe him, unless of course you can convince me him doing the "eclipse purloin" was not completely stupid. It ruined my expectations for this novel, but I am hoping it will turn out there were maybe deeper reasons behind his suicidal actions. Like I would understand if the second lady was his wife, mother, other family or whatever but no they are strangers, before this they don't even have much of a relationship aside from him saving her and her barely tolerating his presence. The critique about MC aside I really like the side characters, they all feel like actual people, the woman don't just fall in love (even when it may be justified like MC saving 2nd lady life twice and almost sacrificing his own) it makes it seem like they have their own aspirations and don't exist as the foil for MC. The antagonists are also greatly developed so far. If not for this being pretty unique in this genre, the MC is really a deal breaker.

I feel like I should retract my previous statement about the MC, he acts in a way I do not like at times like the previous time I mentioned if you read that comment. But he truly can't really be called a simp, at least not completely
