«Even if this universe is truly nothing more than a brutal bloody shadowy forest, we Cultivators will burn all that we have just to give off a single weak flickering spark in the darkness!»

«No matter how weak each spark is, how short-lived, how small… As long as the sparks flow unabated, then one day one of those sparks will light some tinder, and that tinder shall light some fallen branches, and those branches shall set ablaze each and every last tree of the forest!»

«In the end, even the smallest sparks will eventually set the shadowy forest ablaze, and illuminate the whole world!»

In a world teeming with cultivators, Li Yao, who makes his living collecting scrap metal, encounters the soul of a titan powerhouse from forty thousand years in the past. Collapse

There's a so called called "sword pill" from the ancient era of cultivation that was invented because of the drawbacks of the flying sword, high cost, low range and unweildy. Firearms ammunition plays a similar role in the modern era of cultivation, and the sustained flight issue of flying swords has not been addressed.

Instead of using "remote shuttles" featured in the university entrance exams, in chapter 287 the author retcons (forgetting what he wrote in previous chapters) by using flying swords as remote delivery vehicles. Very immersion breaking.

I`ve read about 200 chapters, the novel is not bad but it`s not the type of novel I like. The characters are so selfless and righteous that in the end it feels fake, like its all too good to be true. Also, it`s too focused on artifacts, weapons, ships and stuff, I like stories where the characters themselves are powerfull, not their equipment, epecially a cultivation story.
    Just my opinion.

I have read up 1000 chapter and I will say it is worth it all the problem you have listed will be solved

Book one, or the first arc, is a solid but fairly generic cultivation story. I’d call it slightly unique, but overall, the first book isn’t anything particularly special.

Act II — Book Two, the second arc — is absolute peak. The train scene, the quirky side characters, the awesome power armors, the expanding world that slowly reveals itself — it all comes together beautifully.

On top of that, the story starts weaving in niche philosophical questions and some genuinely cool sci-fi concepts. One standout is the Dark Forest Theory. It suggests that the universe is like a dark forest where every civilization is a silent hunter — staying hidden because revealing yourself might mean instant destruction by a more advanced species. The way this theory is subtly integrated into the worldbuilding and character motivations adds a whole new layer of depth and tension to the story.

All of it blends together into something truly unique and wonderful.

So far(I am probably somewhere at end of it now, exam results) the first arc is extremely extremely cliche and predictable to an extent even with a lot exp I have extremely rarely seen, overall it's pretty meh so far, calling it Solid is a pretty far stretch imo, maybe it changes main reason I even continue since I saw comments like yours.

It was quite a journey to complete 3K+ chapter. For how many time that I want drop this novel in last 800 chapter I don't even remember, but I stick to it by reading other novel along with it.

I really only want to give 4 star reveiw but there is not many review in this novel so I guess I will be giving 5 star.

Unlike traditional xianxia, this novel integrates advanced technology, mechas, and interstellar warfare with classic cultivation tropes. The result is a fresh, imaginative world where cultivators pilot giant robots and research AI alongside mastering spiritual energy.

Li Yao is a brilliant, resourceful, and morally complex lead. Unlike overpowered protagonists, he relies on ingenuity, scientific thinking, and relentless effort to overcome challenges. His journey from a lowly scavenger to a key figure in cosmic conflicts feels earned.

I read 200+ chapters, and I’m quitting, this is the 3rd time I’ve started this book, and the 3rd time I’ve given up, but this is definitely the last time! I don't intend to give this book any more chances.
As they have already written before me, the plot contains strong propaganda, and many moral restrictions that go completely in the opposite direction to my ideology, and my idea of the universe of cultivators and the cultivators themselves.
Other than that it's just too boring. Over the course of 200 chapters, there was almost no moment that could interest me and force me to continue reading without looking up from the screen. I also didn’t like the character of the MC, his fighting abilities, and the path he takes (at this stage of the plot).
People write that it will be better next, that you need to hold out for at least 500+ chapters. However, I believe that no book is worth spending 500+ chapters on. And this is also the author’s problem, this is also a writing skill, the author must be able to draw the reader into the story from the first chapters, in the worst case, in the first 30-70 chapters. Failure to do so only speaks volumes about the author's skill level.

It been 3+ years I’ve read this, so I don’t remember everything in clear details.

But from what I do remember was that the novel was maybe a 3.9/5.

The crafting was interesting and so was a the power system. Especially the fusion of cultivation and technology.

My only problem was the fact that the author drag it out for so long, 3000+ chapter is way to much.

A lot of these extremely long cultivation novels could be condensed into maybe 1000-1500. (ofc there always a novel where I want more and more chapters).

this novel is one of the most underrated novels that deserve better since this novel is very good but its low popularity is a shame the first 500 chapter i can say that they are slow in development but they are necessary for the rest of the plots if you can stick for the first 500 without dropping it then you will find it worth reading it

I'v seen worse,so many Chinese novels never getting better even after more than 2k chapters,so for me the first arc of 500 chapters of over 3512 is more like world building for me , Chinese novels mostly won't improve at all after the first 200 chapters if not regress so for me a novel that improve with time as author gets the plot inline with time is way better than many other that at some point you regret picking it up and wasting time

I agree with you, books that I can't get interested in in the first 100 chapters are simply doomed to be less popular. However, I also agree with the comment below. The saddest thing is when there is not even hope that the story will get better. My biggest fear in books is that if they are not very good at the beginning, or I am not satisfied with the MC, that everything will remain that way and I will not see any improvement. This book at least has hope. Although I’m still only reading chapter 100+ myself.

If that's the case, it means it's a bad book. A good novel is something you enjoy from start to finish, without having to waste hours to get interested. I mostly give bad starts 50 chapters at most before I stop, I have 100s of bookmarked novels, no need to waste them on trash.

Well said. If the first 500 chapters is trash, then it isn't worth reading. That's like a 1/3 of other novels and yet the story's not good yet. Not worth reading

500 chapters are equivalent to 5 or more short novels, lol. So yeah, 100%.

I like the novel. I've read diverse cultivation to transmigration Chinese novels and some are acceptable and some are not. This novel in particular deviate from the norms by dividing the normal cultivators and immortal cultivators into good and bad. It also offset me when I'm reading and it's always like MC he's too good... Rivals turns to someone below after somedays of meeting. I always feel like what next will happen... There's always a problem. It's a novel I pick and drop and pick again when less busy.
