I've finished this after 2 days and 1 night. It's great! ❤️‍🩹

So i've read some of the review and some were not satisfied or find this novel boring. But as someone who really loves reading about the background characters living their lives, peeking into their thoughts and actions, this really made me interested. Plus, the mc at first were promised godhood and have the most op cheat system. It kinda reminds me of LOTM regarding the godhood aspects, creating secret society, and recruiting members. But some parts fell thru and feels anticlimactic, especially when the Shadow Council were formed and I was waiting for him to face the newly recruited members, but the author only wrote the moment where Bai Yi pulled them into the shadow headquarters but never really show us how they interact or their conversation.

It happens a lot of times tho, like some of the character cards he pulled and instance he acquired have great potential but when it reached the climax, it was really really poorly executed. It was frustrating. My curiosity, excitement, and expectation were not satiated 😭

I compare this novel a lot to LOTM because some terms are familiar to me haha; mentions of cosmos, corruption, scamming others until it becomes the truth, etc. Some novels like The Innkeeper and I'm Really Not The Demon God's Lackey comes to mind as they had similar writing approach —the mc being viewed as god/strong when they were not in the beginning, the POV switches of numerous people throughout the novel, and seeing how a specific character or organization reacts/ be awed to the mc.

And of course, without fail, nationalism appeared on this one, everyone 😆 Although terms were vague, you would notice that specific country corresponds to the countries in real life. But it didn't bothered me because I wasn't focused on that. Instead, the way author describe the mc is always bothering me, as well as some of his actions. Bai Yi is 17 years old so I understand if the author wanted to write his intentional childish tantrums as him breaking the ice to distract us from thinking too deeply to his inevitable fate but it's too much 😭 I swear I catch myself cringing. He's always described as soft, white, youthful etc etc, doing random tantrums, istg he's so uke material

And the ending also, wdym 3 years have passed, he's now 21 but he still looks like a child? HELP he's a god and have enormous power but can't make himself look appropriate his age omg

Still a great read tho. I stopped reading for a whole 6 months and this just piqued my interest. It could be better in my opinion but nothing we could do, welp it's already completed 🫶

Beginning was interesting but the middle and later parts of the novel were kind of boring. It's a worldhopping novel with elements of horror where the protagonist completes "dungeons" of other worlds. Ending was pretty standard Short-ish read, only 185 chapters and the chapters aren't that long. Decent concept but wasn't executed that well. Read if you're bored but you aren't missing out on anything if you choose not to tbh 3/5 its mid asf which is disappointing because I thought it was going to be good

Well my feedback, it's something similar to house of horrors, but carried out in a very different manner, the writing is good, it can get a bit confusing due to some translation errors, around medium paced, not fast and also not slow. Overall good for a horror read. Not as "horror-intense" as House of horrors. But it's still okay. And sprinkle a bit of "eminence in the shadows".
