Chapter 1394: Black Stone (part 7) |
The reason Evan guessed that the colorful orbs were souls was because of his Soul Absorption skill.
Using Soul Absorption, he could absorb the souls of others and use those absorbed souls to enhance the power of his skills.
Those absorbed souls also appeared as colorful orbs, very similar to the ones that had just seeped into Azroth’s body.
However, unlike Evan, Azroth did not seem to be using the Soul Absorption skill to absorb them.
Instead, it looked as though the souls were willingly going to him on their own.
’Is it also because of the Ruler’s Authority, Soul Keeper?’
Evan guessed inwardly, feeling that his assumption was likely correct.
While he was thinking, the face of the spirit of the Universal Tree turned pale white with fear as she watched one world after another explode like supernovas.
As the Universal Tree sustained damage, the aura of the spirit also began to weaken rapidly.
With the tree being damaged, it was only natural that she would also be injured.
The Universal Tree tried to stop the exploding worlds using all of its power.
However, although it managed to slow down the destruction slightly, it was unable to stop it completely.
Azroth had poured an enormous amount of the power of destruction into the world he created before making it collide against the worlds attached to the Universal Tree.
With such an overwhelming chain reaction of destructive power spreading endlessly, it was incredibly difficult for the spirit of the tree to stop it.
"Please stop it! I will give you the thing you wanted!"
She begged Azroth desperately as her aura continued to plummet due to the damage sustained by the Universal Tree.
Azroth looked at the spirit, whose figure had become noticeably hazier than before and spoke calmly.
"If you had agreed earlier, I wouldn’t have needed to waste my time blowing up these pebbles."
As he spoke, Azroth lightly tapped the Halberd of Destruction in his hand.
In the next instant, all the power of destruction acting as the link behind the chain reaction suddenly halted.
The supernova-like explosions that had engulfed the entire cosmos instantly ceased, and everything returned to silence.
If not for the countless giant fragments of destroyed worlds floating throughout space, one would have thought nothing had happened at all.
The spirit of the Universal Tree looked at the enormous portion of the tree that had been completely destroyed and gritted her teeth in fury.
"You can regret your actions later."
Azroth took a step forward as he approached the spirit.
"Now hand over the thing I came for. I don’t have any more time to waste with you."
Veins bulged on the spirit’s forehead as she glared at Azroth as though she wanted to tear him apart.
Evan’s mouth twitched slightly as well as he watched the scene unfold.
This guy was truly something else.
He had literally blown apart the Universal Tree, which was essentially the spirit’s body, and now he was not even giving her time to mourn.
’Truly a lady killer...’
Evan nodded inwardly in approval because he genuinely disliked people who went easy on their opponents simply because they were women.
Taking a deep breath to suppress her anger, the spirit stretched out her hand toward the colossal Universal Tree.
In the next moment, the entire tree began to glow with a colorful radiance.
A strange energy emanated from it, spreading throughout the cosmos.
The radiance was so bright that Evan was forced to close his eyes for a moment.
A few seconds later, when the intensity of the light faded slightly, he finally opened his eyes and saw something flying out of the tree.
Compared to the enormous size of the Universal Tree, the object was tiny, only around the size of Evan’s palm.
’Is that... a stone?’
Evan wondered as he looked at the black stone floating above the spirit’s palm.
The stone was wrapped in colorful radiance, but the light was gradually fading away, slowly revealing its pitch-black surface.
The spirit looked at Azroth and asked in a voice filled with unwillingness,
"What are you planning to do with it?"
"It’s none of your concern."
Azroth took the stone and casually stored it away without even sparing the spirit another glance.
The spirit gritted her teeth, wanting to say that it was obviously her concern since he was literally taking away her possession.
But clearly, Azroth did not see it that way.
In his eyes, the moment the stone entered his hands, it became his property and no longer had anything to do with the spirit.
"Even if you obtain it, you won’t be able to use it. Your core world has already solidified, and it can no longer be changed," The spirit spoke again, hoping to make Azroth reconsider and return the stone to her.
"It’s none of your concern."
Azroth’s reply remained exactly the same as before.
The spirit’s eyes twitched violently, and she once again opened her mouth as if wanting to say something.
But after remaining silent for a few moments, she merely snorted coldly and disappeared from the area.
Evan watched everything carefully, with most of his attention focused on the black stone Azroth had just taken away.
’I feel like I have seen that stone somewhere before.’
He thought inwardly, and as he searched through his memories, his eyes suddenly widened in realization.
’Isn’t that the same stone Anastasia brought back from the small dimension beneath the Boundless Ocean?’ (Chap—1195)
While spending time with Anastasia inside her core world, she had given him the black stone she had found there.
However, neither of them had discovered any use for it. They had only assumed it was some kind of high-level material that could be used to forge a powerful artifact.
’Considering how much effort Azroth put into obtaining that stone, it must be something incredibly important.’
Evan suddenly felt fortunate that he had never handed the black stone over to someone to forge into a weapon.
’If I had done that, Azroth might have literally come back to life just to kill me.’
Just as Evan was thinking this, Azroth suddenly turned to look directly at him and began walking toward him.
