Chapter 193

Su Hao believes that many things in the world aren’t inherently complex; it depends on how people approach them.

It’s like a tangled mess of lines blocking the way in front of you. Some people choose to untangle each line one by one, while others prefer to set the whole thing on fire.

Su Hao is the kind of person who enjoys burning the chaotic tangle of lines to ashes all at once.

Many things in the world are limited by human understanding and can’t be explained clearly, no matter how you approach them.

For example, regarding the actions of a person named [Slaughterer] Lu, Su Hao can’t evaluate what he’s done.

No matter whether Lu acted with good or ill intent, his actions are a mix of good and bad.

He might also be the person the “Prophet” referred to as someone who will bring change to the world.

To this, Su Hao can only say, “I’m sorry,” but [Slaughterer] Lu has things he wants to do, and Su Hao has his own goals.

Initially, there was no deep conflict between them, but now Su Hao wants to kill [Slaughterer] Lu because Lu has shown hostility toward the “Mutants,” which is equivalent to showing hostility toward Su Hao.

Su Hao is an Mutant; this can’t be denied. They are ultimately on opposite sides.

So Su Hao doesn’t want to think too much about these messy relationships; he chooses to kill his opponent in advance.

Once he’s out of the way, he’ll have plenty of time to study the Way of Genes, which is incredibly deep and, for now, Su Hao only has a superficial understanding of it.

He’s far from being an expert.

Su Hao takes a deep breath and patiently waits for [Slaughterer] Lu to walk into the trap he’s set.

As for whether [Slaughterer] Lu might detect the impending danger and stop, Su Hao isn’t very confident, but it’s highly likely he won’t detect it.

Because he once conducted similar tests on Yashan and other “Temple Forest Society” members, apart from the “Nightwalkers” sequence, Mutants don’t have a strong sense of others’ life force.

Not only do they lack a strong perception of others, but most Mutants also have a very low perception of their own life force.

Only advanced members of the “Temple Forest Society” who have undergone martial training can accurately sense their life force, and even their perception of others’ life force isn’t strong.

[Slaughterer] Lu walks on the road to Temple Forest City, his steps light, a feeling he has never experienced before.

“Perhaps, this is the most solid proof I’ve found that the new era is coming!”

“I’m not wrong; all Mutants will be wiped out completely, this is the final result, and it won’t change. The only difference is who will be the executioner. I don’t mind being the one with blood on my hands!”

“Moreover, isn’t gaining the power of ‘[Slaughterer]’ my destiny? Among so many Mutant sequences, only ‘[Slaughterer]’ can accomplish this great purification work! This is the choice of fate!”

“And I will walk on this path of purification for my entire life, all the way to the end of my life.”

The more [Slaughterer] Lu thinks, the more excited he becomes, and his pace quickens, completely unaware that death is approaching.

On the other side, Su Hao breathes a sigh of relief when he senses [Slaughterer] Lu entering the trap, but he doesn’t hurry.

“When he steps directly above ‘Level-2 Thousand Explosions,’ that’s when I’ll detonate thirty bombs all at once!”

Time passes by, and Su Hao’s radar operates at full capacity, precisely pinpointing [Slaughterer] Lu’s location with the help of Little Light.

“It’s now!”

Su Hao immediately activates the control bone cards in his hand, remotely triggering thirty ‘Level-2 Thousand Explosions’ bombs.

These are the first thousand-level bombs that Su Hao has ever created, and there are thirty of them!!!

No sound!

But in the distance, a blinding white light ignites, like a sun crashing to the earth!

The bombs have been successfully activated!

Then, a violent tremor emanates from the ground under Su Hao’s feet, growing more intense, making him somewhat unsteady on his feet.

After a moment, a powerful shockwave sweeps through, and if Su Hao hadn’t been prepared, he would have been knocked over.

Along with the shockwave, some debris and stones are carried into the air.

After a while.

“Boom!”

The long-lasting rumble finally reaches this location, and Su Hao’s ears are stinging, prompting him to instinctively cover them.

Immediately following that is a continuous howling of fierce winds, hitting his face.

“Wow!” After Su Hao swears, he quickly transforms into a “Child of Fate,” using thick adamantine armor to cover his entire body for protection.

How far is this place from the explosion site?

Approximately around four kilometers, and even from this distance, the shockwave still possesses such incredible power. It’s easy to imagine what [Slaughterer] Lu, at the center of the explosion, is experiencing with the devastating energy unleashed.

“Big Brother Wu, look, what’s that?” Xiao Dan grabs Big Brother Wu’s hand, pointing at the dazzling light not far away.

Big Brother Wu had already noticed the anomaly, the sudden eruption of a brilliant light in the distance, leaving his mind blank. What could this be?

But before he could think further, the ground shook violently, throwing both of them to the ground.

Before they could get up, a powerful force of impact struck them, throwing them backward, and they landed on the ground, tumbling.

“Spurt~”

Both of them simultaneously spew out blood, clearly having been injured by the violent shockwave.

They were too close to the explosion site, within a range of about two kilometers, and if they had been any closer, it would have been much worse than just spitting blood.

“Boom!”

The deafening sound arrives, and both of them lose their hearing in an instant, blood flowing from their ears.

Not only that, a large amount of debris, dirt, and all sorts of plant fragments begin to scatter in all directions, burying them within moments.

At this moment, not far from the Lingyuan City, the residents of Lingyuan City all felt the intense tremors of the earth. They ran out of their houses onto the open streets, shouting loudly, “Earthquake, earthquake! Run out quickly!”

By the time everything calmed down, the people still didn’t understand what had happened.

Amidst the chaotic debris, a hand suddenly emerges, pulling away the covering soil and stones.

“Phew, phew, phew!” It’s Big Brother Wu.

“Where’s Xiao Dan? Xiao Dan!” Big Brother Wu seems to recall something, hurriedly kneels on the ground and starts digging up the soil, and after a while, he unearths a person covered in mud.

It’s Xiao Dan.

Xiao Dan regains consciousness, cleans herself up a bit, and suddenly bursts into tears.

Big Brother Wu, feeling sorry for her, embraces Xiao Dan, patting her back and about to say, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here! I’ll protect you! Trust me!”

But as the words reach his lips, he swallows them back. Every time he says this, karma strikes extremely quickly, and he’s not sure if he’s been particularly unlucky lately, encountering such inexplicable events – it defies reason.

But the good thing is that they’re both still alive.

Whether it’s luck or misfortune, it’s hard to tell.

Xiao Dan suddenly breaks down, crying her heart out, “I’ve had enough, Big Brother Wu! I don’t want to run with you anymore, phew, phew, phew!”

Big Brother Wu regains some of his hearing, barely understanding what Xiao Dan is saying, and he holds Xiao Dan tightly, saying, “Xiao Dan, please listen to me one more time…”

Xiao Dan shakes her head, “I won’t listen, I won’t listen…”

As the dust settles, Su Hao leaps into the air, flying high and using the “Distant View” runic symbols to closely observe the explosion site, searching for any traces of [Slaughterer] Lu.

From high above, he sees a massive crater on the ground, with a diameter of over a kilometer. It looks like a meteor crater, with earth rolling outward and exposing the yellow soil.

It’s as if the Earth has gained a giant yellow eye, gazing at the cosmos.

After a while, Su Hao finds nothing, but he spots two innocent Mutants who were affected not far from the blast site. Su Hao had noticed them earlier but had ignored them.

Su Hao tries to sense [Slaughterer] Lu’s life force using his radar but finds nothing. He mumbles, “He’s probably dead, I guess.”

“Just to be safe, I’ll wait a bit longer.”

Although Su Hao is eager to find [Slaughterer] Lu’s remains to record his genetic information, the situation is unclear, so he decides to wait for a while.

    Chapter 193

Su Hao believed that many things in the world were not inherently complicated. The difficulty lay only in how people chose to deal with them.

It was like a tangled mass of threads blocking the road ahead. Some people would patiently untangle every strand one by one, while others would simply burn the entire knot to ashes.

Su Hao belonged to the latter.

He preferred solving problems at their source.

Many things in this world were limited by human understanding. No matter how much one pondered them, they could never be completely explained.

    Take Fiend Lu, for example.

Su Hao couldn't judge whether Lu's actions were righteous or evil.

His deeds were neither entirely good nor entirely bad.

    Perhaps...

He truly was the person the Prophets had foretold—the one destined to bring change to the world.

To that, Su Hao had only one response.

    "I'm sorry."

    Lu had his own convictions.

Su Hao had his own goals.

Originally, there had been no irreconcilable conflict between them.

But now, Su Hao wanted Lu dead.

Because Lu had declared war against all Mutants.

    And Su Hao...

    was one of them.

That fact could never be changed.

They were destined to become enemies.

So Su Hao had no intention of wasting time pondering questions of morality.

    His approach was simple.

    Remove the obstacle first.

Afterward, he could peacefully continue studying genetics.

Compared to endless disputes, the mysteries of genes were far more fascinating.

    And at present...

His understanding of them was still only superficial.

    ---

Su Hao took a deep breath and quietly waited for Fiend Lu to enter the trap.

Whether Lu could sense the danger beforehand...

    Su Hao wasn't entirely certain.

    But the probability was low.

He had conducted many similar experiments before.

    Yashan...

Along with numerous members of the Temple Forest Association...

    had all participated.

Apart from Mutants of the Nightwalker Sequence, most Mutants possessed very poor perception of Blood Essence.

Not only could they barely sense the Blood Essence of others...

Most couldn't even accurately perceive their own.

Only the senior members of the Temple Forest Association, after undergoing Su Hao's martial training, could clearly sense their own Blood Essence.

Even then, their perception of others remained extremely limited.

    ---

    ...

    ---

Fiend Lu continued walking toward Temple Forest City.

    His footsteps felt unusually light.

It was a feeling he had never experienced before.

    "Perhaps..."

    "This is the clearest proof."

"A new era has already begun."

    "I wasn't wrong."

"Mutants will inevitably disappear from this world."

    "That ending cannot be changed."

    "The only difference..."

    "Is who becomes the executioner."

"If someone must stain their hands with blood..."

    "Then let it be me."

    "Among all Mutant Sequences..."

"Only the Fiend possesses the power to complete this great purification."

    "This is fate's choice."

    "And I..."

"Will continue walking this road until the day I die."

The more he thought about it, the firmer his conviction became.

Without realizing it, his pace quickened.

    He remained completely unaware...

that death was already waiting ahead.

    ---

Far away, Su Hao finally relaxed slightly.

Fiend Lu had entered the minefield.

    "Not yet..."

    "A little closer..."

"Once he steps directly above the center..."

"I'll detonate all thirty Thousand Bursts simultaneously."

    Time passed quietly.

Su Hao's radar operated at full capacity.

With Little Light constantly calculating Lu's exact position, every step was monitored with absolute precision.

    Then—

    The perfect moment arrived.

    "Now!"

Su Hao instantly activated every Control Rune.

Thirty buried Level Two—Thousand Bursts were triggered simultaneously.

These were the first Thousand Bursts bombs Su Hao had ever created.

    And there were...

    Thirty of them.

    For an instant...

    There was complete silence.

    Then—

    A blinding white light erupted.

It was as though a miniature sun had descended upon the earth.

    The bombs had detonated.

The ground beneath Su Hao's feet shook violently.

The tremors intensified until even he struggled to keep his balance.

    Moments later...

A terrifying shockwave swept across the land.

Had Su Hao not prepared himself beforehand, he would have been thrown off his feet.

The shockwave carried rocks, soil, shattered trees, and everything else in its path.

Only after several moments did the thunderous roar finally arrive.

    BOOOOOOM!!

The deafening sound pierced his ears.

    Instinctively, Su Hao covered them.

    A violent gale immediately followed.

    "Damn..."

Without hesitation, he transformed into his Lifebearer form.

Brilliant diamond armor instantly enveloped his body.

Only then did he completely withstand the aftershock.

    He silently estimated the distance.

    Nearly four kilometers.

Even from that far away, the explosion possessed such terrifying destructive power.

It was impossible to imagine what Fiend Lu had suffered at the center of the blast.

    ---

    Not far away...

Brother Wu and Xiaodan also saw the brilliant flash.

    "Brother Wu! What's that?"

Brother Wu had already noticed it.

    His mind went blank.

Before he could think any further...

    The earth shook violently.

Both of them were thrown to the ground.

Before they could stand up again—

    The shockwave arrived.

    Bang!

The invisible force blasted them backward.

They rolled across the ground several times.

    "Pfft!"

Both spat out mouthfuls of blood.

Fortunately, they were still nearly two kilometers from the explosion.

    Had they been any closer...

The outcome would have been far worse.

    Then came the sound.

    BOOOOOOM!!

    Their hearing disappeared instantly.

    Blood trickled from both ears.

Moments later, countless rocks, dirt, broken branches, and debris rained down upon them, burying them completely.

    ---

    At the same time...

The residents of Linyuan City felt the violent tremor.

    People rushed into the streets.

    "Earthquake!"

    "Run!"

    "Get outside!"

Only after everything finally settled did they realize...

It hadn't been an earthquake at all.

    ---

A hand slowly emerged from beneath a mound of dirt.

    "Phew..."

    "Phew..."

    Brother Wu crawled out first.

    Then he suddenly remembered.

    "Xiaodan!"

    "Xiaodan!"

Ignoring his injuries, he frantically dug through the soil.

    Before long...

He pulled out a figure covered in mud.

    It was Xiaodan.

    She slowly opened her eyes.

After wiping the dirt from her face...

    She burst into tears.

    Brother Wu hugged her tightly.

    The words reached his lips.

    "Don't be afraid."

    "I'm here."

    "I'll protect you."

    "Trust me."

    But...

    He swallowed them.

Every time he said those words...

Something unbelievable happened almost immediately afterward.

Even he had begun to suspect he was cursed.

    Still...

    The important thing was...

    They were both alive.

Whether that was luck or misfortune...

    He couldn't tell anymore.

    Xiaodan cried uncontrollably.

    "I've had enough!"

"I don't want to keep running with you anymore!"

Brother Wu's hearing had only partially recovered.

He barely understood what she was saying.

Holding her tightly, he spoke softly.

    "Xiaodan..."

    "Trust me..."

    "Just one last time..."

    She shook her head repeatedly.

    "No."

    "I won't."

    ---

    After the dust gradually settled...

Su Hao rose into the sky.

Using Distant View, he carefully observed the center of the explosion.

    The landscape had completely changed.

A colossal crater over a kilometer wide dominated the earth.

It resembled the scar left behind by a falling meteor.

The surrounding ground had been blasted outward, exposing the yellow bedrock beneath.

    From high above...

It looked like a gigantic eye gazing silently toward the heavens.

    Su Hao searched carefully.

    He found nothing.

The only Mutants still alive nearby were Brother Wu and Xiaodan, who had fortunately escaped the center of the blast.

    Activating his radar once more...

He searched for Fiend Lu's Blood Essence.

    Nothing.

Not even the slightest trace remained.

    "...He's probably dead."

    "I think."

    Even so...

Su Hao wasn't in a hurry.

He still wanted Fiend Lu's body.

    More importantly...

He wanted to record Fiend Lu's genetic information.

Until he was absolutely certain that Lu was dead...

    He would continue waiting.
