Chapter 439: The Natives
Su Xiao jumped down from Bubtny's back and walked over to the long extinguished bonfire.
The bones were scattered around the bonfire.
After picking up one of the bones from the ground, Su Xiao immediately noticed a row of teeth marks on it. These marks were left by a creature with flat teeth, and the bite force of this creature was so strong that it was able to bite through the bone and suck the bone marrow out of it.
This creature knew how to make a fire, and the teeth marks on the bones and the number of these very bones indicated that these creatures moved in groups.
Su Xiao hesitates. He didn't know if he should try to track down these creatures, but they might have food and fresh water.
Just as Su Xiao was pondering this question, a short shout came from the valley not far away.
The scream stopped abruptly.
— Bubtney, come on.
Su Xiao wouldn't be able to last long without food and water, so instead of hiding, it would be better if he tried his luck for strength.
They quickly ran into the valley...
The vegetation in the valley was not abnormally high, which made it possible to see everything that was happening ahead from afar.
Su Xiao, along with Bubtni, walked closer to the place where the scream had come from, but there was no one else in that place.
After spending some time searching for it Su Xiao soon found a broken sword in a pile of bushes nearby.
Su Xiao's eyes narrowed slightly. This sword was once a blue-grade weapon, which meant that some contractor had screamed earlier.
Not far from the broken sword, Su Xiao also saw a pool of blood.
Nearby, he found a couple more small traces of the battle. According to Su Xiao's analysis, the melee contractor was fighting an unknown enemy, but was quickly defeated.
Seeing the trail of blood drops, Su Xiao hesitated for a moment, but then quickly began to follow the trail.
At first, these bloodstains were quite noticeable, but after a while they became intermittent and disappeared altogether in ten minutes, so now it was Bubtney's turn to shine.
The smell of blood was like a beacon in a raging storm at sea to Bubtney.
Su Xiao began to move cautiously behind Bubtni...
An hour later, they finally stopped following the trail and settled down on the side of a hill, not far from where the tribe could be seen.
That's right, it was just an ordinary tribe. And a small one at that. Dozens of low triangular wooden tents were built in the center of the tribe, and some of them were covered with hay profusely.
The vine-like creature was the totem of this tribe.
Dozens of humanoid upright creatures were walking between the tents. These creatures looked like primitive humans, but their skin was black and red, and there were various patterns on their faces. Some of them had necklaces made of animal teeth around their necks.
But unlike the primitive people, these aborigines were tall and muscular. The smallest of them was two meters tall, and the tallest was about two and a half meters tall.
— 嘟噜卡巴那.
— 布布布布~.
Bubtney, who was lying next to Su Xiao, pricked up his ears as if he had just heard someone call out to him.
— Hide your head, " Su Xiao said and immediately pressed Bubtny's head against the grass, and because of the surprise, Bubtny took a mouthful of grass.
Bubtney, who was already hungry, was surprised to find that grass wasn't such a bad choice...
He could eat green grass with the grasshoppers when he was hungry, drink dew when he was thirsty...
In the tribe, two red-skinned natives were discussing something loudly. The discussion became more and more intense, and eventually it got to the point where they started pushing each other.
The reason for the conflict was a pair of bloodstained jeans.
These jeans were clearly more than just clothes for them, and they clearly couldn't create something like this, however, this wasn't the first contractor to be caught and killed by these natives.
Su Xiao saw a couple more contractor bodies in their tribe.
In front of one of the tents, two decapitated and disemboweled corpses were actually suspended, and they looked like they were going to be dried and then eaten.
According to Su Xiao's guess, the two fresh corpses in front of one of the tents were the ones who had previously let out a cry in the valley.
Not far from these two corpses was another contractor. This contractor was still alive, but there were several large bloody holes in his body.
This contractor was completely naked, and there was despair on his face.
His hands and feet were well bound.
After taking a closer look at it, Su Xiao realized that it seemed vaguely familiar to him.
Su Xiao patted Bubtny's head and asked — " Isn't that the guy without a parachute?
It was a miracle that he had survived the attack of the black hawk, and that he had been able to survive falling from such a height without a parachute..
But this contractor was truly strange. Before entering each of the worlds, Paradise always collected 100 coins for providing the contractor with an understanding of the language of this derived world.
It was already a good sign that among the 500 contractors, only 1 person made such a stupid mistake.
But in addition to being thrown out of the plane without a parachute, he was also attacked in the air.
However, this contractor wasn't weak. He had sufficient strength and froze himself together with the eagle right in the air, and right before directly colliding with the ground, he unfroze himself together with the eagle and was able to pin the eagle under him.
Even though he still took massive damage due to this fall, this contractor was able to survive.
It's a pity, but this is not the end of his black streak. He landed right next to two other contractors, and the saddest thing is that he had conflicts with these two contractors.
Just as they were about to fight to the death, a red-skinned native appeared on the scene. The short shout that Su Xiao heard was actually issued by this not - so-lucky contractor who was unhappy with such an injustice.
After that, everything went according to a fairly obvious scenario. Three contractors lost in a couple of moments and two of them were killed in the battle, but they decided to make dry food for the future. The surviving contractor without a parachute was turned into a "naked pig" and tonight will be the dinner of the Red natives.
One red-skinned native was rummaging through a backpack next to a live contractor that belonged to one of the two dead contractors.
The red-skinned native took out two small bottles from his backpack, sniffed them, and laughed. They contained salt and ground chili pepper. The red-skinned native didn't recognize ground chili pepper, but he did recognize salt.
The contractor without a parachute almost fainted when he saw it. "Why did these two bastards bring condiments with them, they really wanted to survive?»
— Hey~, " the contractor's voice without a parachute was weak, but the red-skinned native looked at him anyway.
— Leave the pepper in your backpack, I don't like this stuff.
The red-skinned native obviously didn't understand and just kicked him in the face.
These red-skinned natives were ferocious and cruel. With the exception of members of their own species they looked upon other creatures exclusively as their food.
The contractor's request without a parachute was "culturally" rejected, and he didn't try to say anything more.
Su Xiao watched the scene calmly. He wasn't going to save this strange contractor, but he wasn't going to leave these red-skinned natives alone, either. The reason for this decision was very simple-they had clear water, he saw it while watching their tribe.
It was obviously impossible to hold peace talks, so he could only use his sword to communicate.
But Su Xiao didn't move and remained lying on the hillside. Although his stomach was already rumbling with hunger, he didn't move. The time hasn't come yet.
Bubtney, who was lying next to Su Xiao earlier, disappeared. His passive skill really was something with something.
The sky began to darken rapidly, and a few aboriginals who had previously hunted outside began to return. According to Su Xiao's calculation there were a total of 43 red skinned aborigines in this tribe.
And this tribe was a little strange. There were only adult males in this tribe — there were no women or small children in this tribe.
It could only indicate that this was their temporary, non-main camp, set up solely for easier hunting.
There was also the possibility that these aboriginals were small tribes that were driven out of the big tribes, and naturally the women couldn't leave with them.
Su Xiao was more inclined towards the latter option. Judging by the tracks and their structures these red skinned natives had been living in this place for at least a few months.
