Chapter 305: Pit Magic Web
The Blood River meandered and branched out, its countless tributaries said to stretch throughout the entire Blood Abyss.
Standing a thousand meters from the Blood River, Su Nan could already feel the overwhelming aura of blood and malevolence.
"No wonder the Blood River is home to so many Evil Souls."
Su Nan gazed at the blood-red waters, clicking his tongue in astonishment.
With such a dense aura of wickedness, any ordinary soul that fell into the Blood River would likely be transformed into an evil spirit before long.
"Well then, Lord Wizard, we bid you farewell."
The Succubus flashed Su Nan a charming smile. Noting his slight nod, she didn’t linger and turned to leave with the Demon.
Su Nan’s body lifted from the ground, flying toward the Blood River.
As he approached, the surrounding ghosts seemed to sense their prey, rushing toward him with the ferocity of hungry wolves. They emitted sharp, piercing shrieks, reaching out with hands like beastly claws, attempting to seize him.
They struggled frantically, but were never able to break free from the oppressive force to climb out. Even the river’s surface, which had once been rapid and turbulent, became flat and slightly concave, forming a stark contrast with the roiling waters further along the banks.
Su Nan nodded subtly.
The Gravity Control, imbued with the Power of Law, could affect even the non-corporeal Evil Souls.
With a thought, Su Nan released the gravitational suppression while retrieving a gemstone from his Space Ring.
He then pointed a finger into the void, and countless mysterious golden runes suddenly appeared, interweaving to form a magic array that was absorbed into the gemstone.
Instantly, the gemstone glowed brightly, and those Evil Souls that had broken free from the heavy pressure—snarling and clawing, eager to pounce on him—were irresistibly drawn toward the gemstone, vanishing into it.
A sliver of silver light emerged from the center of the Gemstone. As more and more Evil Souls seeped into it, the Gemstone continuously expanded, ultimately dyeing the entire structure a magnificent silver.
A Soul Crystal had been successfully created!
Su Nan retracted the Gemstone, examined it for a moment, and was surprised to discover that the Soul Crystal's level had reached Medium.
This was already the highest-level Soul Crystal achievable using ordinary Soul. To attain a higher level, legendary-grade or even Wizard-grade Souls would be required.
The Blood River had plenty of everything, particularly an endless supply of Souls—virtually an unlimited resource library for crafting Soul Crystals.
The only drawback was that the Soul Crystals made using Blood River Souls were tainted with Blood Abyss aura, which had to be purified before they could be used.
However, the cost of purification was nearly equivalent to purchasing a Soul Crystal of the same level.
Considering these two costs, using Blood River Souls to create Soul Crystals was hardly cost-effective.
But this was not an issue for Su Nan.
The synthesis of the Magic Cube could perfectly solve the problem of purifying the Blood Abyss aura, and at zero cost too.
"If I find myself in need of more Soul Crystals in the future, I can simply consider 'stocking up' directly here."
Temporarily setting aside the thought of making Soul Crystals, Su Nan began his search along the Blood River.
He didn’t know the exact time when the Astral Clock Tower would ambush the Spider Goddess, only that it was expected to happen soon.
Initially, using a Wizard-level Puppet to search would have been the best option since Puppets are immune to Spirit and Soul attacks and are effective against the Evil Souls of the Blood River. However, Su Nan was concerned that the Astral Clock Tower or the Spider Goddess might discover the Puppet, complicating matters. Reluctantly, he decided to abandon that idea and conduct the search himself.
Though it felt somewhat cumbersome, it was currently the most reliable method.
After all, the targets were Deities and True Spirit Wizards, and if he intended to play the role of the mantis lurking behind the cicada, he needed to be as careful as possible.
Concealing his energy and aura, Su Nan cast a high-level Invisibility Technique on himself and began to search swiftly along the Blood River.
The Blood Abyss was incredibly vast, and the Blood River flowing through it was equally endless, creating a limitless expanse. Moreover, there were numerous tributaries. Even with the speed of a Level 3 Crystallization Wizard, it was unrealistic to think of traversing all the main and tributary Blood Rivers in less than half a year.
For over ten days, Su Nan had made no progress.
Just as he was contemplating whether to find a demon town to infiltrate and gather information about any recent unusual occurrences in Blood River, he suddenly felt a powerful surge of energy erupt in the distance.
This energy was one he recognized well, reminiscent of a simplified version of the Elemental Furnace in the Starlight Wizard Tower, but its scale was even larger.
"It's finally here!"
Su Nan's eyes lit up. He took a deep breath to suppress his inner excitement and sped toward the direction of the energy's eruption.
In the blink of an eye, he crossed over a hundred kilometers.
The monotonous blood-colored river before him began to change.
In the midst of the densely packed Evil Soul Blood River, a vacuum zone with a radius of twenty to thirty kilometers suddenly appeared, seemingly out of thin air, with not a single Evil Soul in sight.
All the Evil Souls appeared to have sensed something terrifying and were frantically pushing outward, trying to escape the vacuum zone.
They were nearly piled on top of one another, their eyes filled with terror.
In the overcast sky, a massive Silver Vortex had materialized.
A magnificent and towering city, known as Floating City, slowly emerged from within the Silver Vortex.
It was a colossal city composed of countless buildings of varying heights.
There were no walls on the outer perimeter, allowing the outline of the building complex to be clearly visible.
At the bottom of the city was an inverted mountain peak pointing downward, supporting the city as it floated in the sky.
Even more striking was the sun-like orb of light above the center of the city, radiating golden halos in all directions, creating a circular aura that enveloped the entire city.
"Blazing Sun City."
Su Nan's gaze narrowed slightly.
The Floating Cities of the True Spirit Wizards often reflect the distinct styles of their owners.
One could generally identify the city's owner from its appearance.
For instance, Blazing Sun City belonged to Gunter Sharp, one of the council members of the Astral Clock Tower.
Behind Blazing Sun City were also hundreds of Wizard Towers and countless God Hunting Peaks.
The latter was the unique War Construct of the Astral Clock Tower.
"What a grand display!" Su Nan clicked his tongue in admiration. But upon reflection, it was only natural. After all, the Astral Clock Tower was dealing with the Spider Goddess this time; no amount of caution could be considered excessive.
Just then, Su Nan's expression shifted. He turned his gaze towards the opposite bank of the Blood River. His attention passed through the thin green mist, the crisscrossing fissures, and the Plain that belched forth flames and poisonous gases, finally landing on a point several thousand meters away.
There, the rocks and soil had vanished, replaced by a bottomless, inky black void. Countless strands of spider silk were woven together to form an impossibly large web, suspended within the abyss. At the center of the web stood a massive fortress shaped like a spider, looming silently. Its eight legs rested on the silk, supporting its heavy body without the slightest sign of sinking. Crafted entirely from steel, it gleamed with a cold metallic luster.
"Pit Magic Web!" Su Nan's expression grew serious. The Pit Magic Web was the Divine Kingdom of the Spider Goddess. That spider-shaped fortress perched on the web was her palace. Legend had it that the Spider Goddess often commanded this fortress to traverse the web, like a real spider patrolling its territory. Any creature that dared to enter her palace without her permission would be ensnared by the silk, losing their strength and ultimately succumbing. Neither flight spells nor teleportation spells would work within the confines of the web.
The moment Blazing Sun City appeared, the Spider Goddess was aware of their approach. Without hesitation, she revealed herself and summoned her Divine Kingdom. As the Pit Magic Web rapidly encroached upon the Blood Abyss, the surrounding environment began to change swiftly, gradually transforming into a web and spreading rapidly towards Blazing Sun City.
Buzz!
A strange buzzing sound echoed from the solar light cluster above Blazing Sun City. The fiery halo surrounding the cluster suddenly erupted, cascading outwards in all directions.
"The moment it touched the light halo, the erosion of the Deep Pit Magic Web quickly halted and gradually receded, pulling back over a thousand meters before finally ceasing its decline.
'Star Spirit Source Light,' Su Nan's gaze flickered slightly.
As the Wizarding Faction that had slain gods the most times in the Multiverse, the Astral Clock Tower possessed many unique abilities for dealing with deities.
Star Spirit Source Light was one of those abilities.
It could weaken the power of the Divine Kingdom, reduce its enhancement effects on both deities and petitioners, and significantly increase the success rate of god-slaying.
While the Spider Queen's choice of the Blood Abyss as a hiding place considerably decreased the chances of detection by enemy forces, it also came with its drawbacks.
Within the chaotic Blood Abyss of Law, the power of the Divine Kingdom would be diminished.
The combined heavy pressure of the Blood Abyss and Star Spirit Source Light undoubtedly reduced the power of the Deep Pit Magic Web to its weakest point in history.
Rumble!
The Flying City in the sky began to move like a colossal beast, soaring toward the Deep Pit Magic Web with a muffled roar.
A layer of light, adorned with dense golden runes, spread out, casting a faint golden hue over the surrounding Wizard Tower and God Hunting Peak, as if a golden giant net had briefly appeared in the high sky, both mysterious and magnificent.
In addition to its own formidable combat power, the Flying City could also enhance the accompanying War Constructs, significantly boosting the army's fighting capabilities.
This was why the Flying City was regarded as one of the strongest alchemic creations in the Wizarding World.
As the wizard army advanced, the Deep Pit Magic Web also stirred.
Countless spiders surged forth from every corner of the magic net.
They were not all real spiders; most were demons taking this form.
Within the Deep Pit Magic Web, spiders were favored.
Demons that transformed into spider form experienced a boost in their power.
Moreover, the wasteland, which was semi-merged with the Deep Pit Magic Web, had also formed similar rules at this time.
Dense waves of spiders poured forth from the Deep Pit Magic Web, seemingly limitless."
The horrifying ocean of spiders advanced relentlessly, their segmented legs rhythmically tapping against the ground, producing a steady clicking sound reminiscent of the opening notes of a macabre feast.
At the same time, countless Golem Puppets surged out from Blazing Sun City and the Wizard Tower, charging forward with imposing momentum.
The two forces collided with a thunderous crash, like a torrent, instantly erupting into a fierce battle.
Meanwhile, the Wizard Tower, high in the sky, sprang into action.
Thousands of Spell Cannon Turrets simultaneously released dazzling golden light that blanketed the sky as it descended upon the spider horde.
Wherever the golden light traveled, the spiders didn't even have time to cry out before they were instantly vaporized.
One concentrated volley left large swathes of emptiness in the once densely packed spider horde.
However, more spiders surged forward quickly, filling the gaps and fearlessly charging toward the Wizard Tower.
Shh shh shh!
The Spell Cannon Turrets entered their free-fire mode, golden streaks of light tearing through the air and precisely striking the ocean of spiders.
Even the Small Wizard Tower's Spell Cannon Turrets outmatched these spiders, which were at most of Fourth Circle Legend level.
The Medium Wizard Tower's Spell Cannon Turrets were even more powerful; a single sweep of golden light turned hundreds of spiders to ash.
"Hiss!"
A piercing hiss suddenly rang out.
A gigantic spider, as colossal as a mountain and roughly a hundred meters tall, charged in from a distance, sending both spiders and Golems flying along its path, scattering them like blood mist.
This massive creature surged toward God Hunting Peak and the Wizard Tower, raising its two sharply glinting, razor-edged legs high before striking down.
Compared to other spider Petitioners, these giant spiders were clearly much stronger.
Each one possessed power at the Wizard level.
The bombardment from God Hunting Peak and the Wizard Tower, when striking the giant spiders, only managed to leave wounds the size of washbasins—insignificant compared to the giant spiders' enormous size.
With the giant spiders joining the fray, the momentum of the Astral Clock Tower's forces was immediately suppressed.
Ignoring the giant spiders, Blazing Sun City, accompanied by over a dozen of the largest Wizard Towers, plunged into the depths of the Pit Magic Web, flying straight toward the very center of the Spider Web: the Spider Palace.
Suddenly, countless dark figures emerged from all directions. They were foul-smelling, mud-like creatures.
Each creature extended eight powerful tentacles, with a blood-red eyeball embedded in its body, radiating an intense aura of evil.
Wax Melt Fiend!
They are the elite of the Pit Magic Web.
In the world of the Deity, the Petitioners are part of the Divine Kingdom.
Once the Divine Kingdom is destroyed, all Petitioners will be reduced to ashes, not a single one remaining.
Conversely, the death of a Petitioner weakens the Divine Kingdom.
The more Petitioners that perish, the more severely the Divine Kingdom is weakened, and the power of the Deity is correspondingly affected.
As the Wax Melt Fiends charged from all directions, the Wizard Towers surrounding Blazing Sun City finally took action, unleashing their Pulse Ray.
Countless rays intertwined to form a net of death, disintegrating any approaching Wax Melt Fiends completely.
Buzz!
Protected in the center by the Wizard Towers, Blazing Sun City finally made its move.
The solar light cluster above the Flying City suddenly lit up with dazzling brilliance, and in the next instant, it shot out a thick, purplish-blue ray that tore through the void and hurtled toward the Spider Palace.
Wherever the ray passed, large, wrinkle-like ripples appeared in the void, distorting even the fabric of space!
“Magic Crystal Superconducting Pulse Cannon!”
Su Nan, who was hiding and observing the battle from a distance, felt his eyes brighten with excitement.
