Chapter 258: Su Nan Indeed Did Not Disappoint

The wind howled high in the sky.

Two figures stood side by side, gazing at the distant city skyline.

“Lord Maiisha, do you think the Star Alliance can withstand Gloomy Throne's attack?” the middle-aged man on the left couldn't help but ask.

A gray robe covered his entire body, but from the waist down, it seemed to vanish into emptiness. Occasionally, gusts of wind lifted the hem of the robe, revealing only the swirling mist within.

“Why not?” Maiisha countered.

Cyril replied, “Gloomy Throne sent Youxi this time. He is one of their most promising candidates for becoming a King Robe Wizard in recent years. His strength should not be underestimated.”

Maiisha remained calm. “Su Nan is no ordinary opponent either. The fact that he was able to establish the Wizard Faction in the Starlight Continent suggests he won’t be easily defeated.”

“That’s true, I suppose,” Cyril conceded, not refuting her point.

In fact, he was quite surprised when he learned that the Wizard Faction had emerged in the Starlight Continent. He was genuinely astonished by the accomplishments of the founder of the Star Alliance. Not just anyone could achieve such a feat.

“But the rise of the Star Alliance has been too rapid. Limited by the local environment of the Starlight Continent, their strength is ultimately constrained. Youxi is a Tier 3 Crystallization Wizard, not to mention he commands the Wolf Tide Plane, an Alien Beast Plane with immense war potential. The chances of the Star Alliance winning are probably very slim.”

“Perhaps, we shall wait and see,” Maiisha said calmly.

Logically, the Star Alliance faced a greater probability of losing, yet she felt an instinctive sense that Su Nan might surprise her.

This wasn't a baseless intuition. After returning to the Wisdom Codex, Maiisha had heard Amy speak of Su Nan's exploits. This young wizard, born in the Starlight Continent, had accomplished countless astonishing feats akin to miracles. She had a vague sense that this time would be no different.

Even if the Star Alliance ultimately failed, it wouldn’t matter much.

Even if the Star Alliance ultimately failed, it wouldn’t matter much.

She would step in to save Su Nan and then recruit him into the Wisdom Codex.

This decision was not only because Su Nan had cared for Amy for many years, but also because she recognized his potential for future growth.

At less than eight hundred years old, a Second Stage Crystallization Wizard would be considered a prodigy in any major Wizard Faction.

Such a promising talent was absolutely worth nurturing; even the Wisdom Society would not refuse him.

Cyril shook his head, unable to comprehend Lord Maiisha's confidence.

After all, this was a mere insignificant Wizard Faction, and any random Level 3 Wizard sent by the Gloomy Throne could easily handle it, let alone a candidate for the King Robe Wizard.

The outcome of this conflict was, in reality, already predictable.

Just then, both their expressions shifted, and they looked up at the sky in unison.

With their powerful Spiritual Power, they simultaneously sensed a strange fluctuation sweeping rapidly across the entire continent.

In that moment, the entire Starlight Plane seemed to break free from some form of restraint.

Cyril quickly understood, “The plane blockade has been lifted.”

Maiisha nodded lightly, just about to respond, when suddenly he tensed and gazed into the distance.

At the edge of the sky, a layer of scarlet hue had appeared, seemingly out of nowhere.

Initially, it was just a small patch, but it expanded at an alarming rate, turning half the sky blood red in the blink of an eye!

Seeing this, a cold glint flashed in Maiisha's eyes.

Cyril reacted immediately and sneered, “The Gloomy Throne truly can’t wait.”

Plane overlap!

This was a sign of a plane invasion!

Unlike the minor skirmishes from the Gloomy Throne before, this time, the invasion began with Youxi directly launching a plane invasion, connecting the Wolf Tide Plane with the Starlight Continent and opening an invasion portal.

This was a common tactic used by many Wizards who controlled planes when conquering others.

Once the connection was made, the two planes would partially overlap, and the overlapping area would become the battleground between the two sides, also known as the Plane Battlefield!

In Maiisha and Cyril's vision, the area in the distance, which should have been a vast grassland, was abruptly dotted with countless patches of gravelly land, like a lush green expanse suddenly afflicted with numerous bald spots.

As they ventured deeper, these gravelly patches multiplied, eventually merging into one continuous expanse, transforming into a wide Wilderness. At its end, a dense Forest abruptly appeared.

This bizarre and peculiar topography resulted from the overlapping of planes.

Awooo!

A long, drawn-out howl of a wolf suddenly echoed from the forest, soon followed by more howls, some near, some far.

Moving black shadows began to emerge among the dense trees.

"They're coming," Cyril said, his eyes glinting with anticipation.

As soon as he spoke, countless black figures burst forth from the forest.

They were Black Wolves, each nearly the size of a horse-drawn carriage.

With crimson eyes and sharp fangs and claws like blades, they exuded a primal and savage ferocity, clearly not ordinary creatures.

"Black Wolves, huh," Cyril murmured to himself.

These were Exotic Beasts unique to the Wolf Tide Plane.

Adult Black Wolves possessed Knight-level strength, their claws capable of easily tearing apart solid rock, making them exceptionally fierce.

Elite-level Black Wolves could reach Great Knight level.

And if it were a Lord-level Black Wolf, it could easily attain legendary status, enough to contend with high-level puppets.

The Black Wolves pouring out of the forest numbered in the tens of thousands at a glance.

They gathered together, like a rolling black carpet, advancing swiftly across the Plain, their momentum so powerful that the ground seemed to vibrate.

Wolf howls rose and fell across this Plain, echoing from near and far.

The air was filled with the low roars of these snarling beasts.

They rushed forward without hesitating, ready to attack and kill any life they encountered along the way.

But at that moment, the heavy sound of hooves suddenly resounded from afar.

Cyril turned his head, and his eyes widened as he saw a black line abruptly appear at the edge of the Plain. This line stretched for thousands of meters and was rapidly expanding.

As the distance closed, they realized it was the Knight Regiment charging forward at high speed.

Each Knight, clad in armor adorned with strange patterns etched across their exposed faces, rode swift black panthers, rushing like a tide into the oncoming wolf horde.

"That's the Magic Knight Order, one of the Star Alliance's core legions," Maiisha said.

A glint of surprise flickered in Cyril's eyes. "They arrived surprisingly fast."

The Star Alliance couldn't have known the location of the Wolf Tide Plane invasion beforehand, which was one of the invaders' advantages.

Yet, the moment the Plane overlapped, the Star Alliance reacted immediately, swiftly dispatching troops to the invasion site. Their efficiency was almost absurdly high.

As if sensing Cyril's confusion, Maiisha explained, "The Star Alliance seems to have inherited part of the Starfall Society's legacy, establishing a Mana Network capable of monitoring the entire Starlight Continent's Energy Particle Fluctuation. In addition, they have created thousands of Teleportation Arrays across the continent, allowing them to quickly deploy a large number of troops wherever needed in a short time."

"I see," Cyril replied, both enlightened and inwardly amazed.

To achieve such a feat in the harsh environment of the Starlight Continent, that wizard named Su Nan truly had remarkable skills.

While Maiisha and Cyril conversed, battle had already broken out on the plain.

The black Exotic Beasts violently collided with the armored Knights, and in an instant, blood splattered, with pieces of bone and flesh flying everywhere!

Deafening battle cries erupted into the sky!

As if red ink were being sprinkled onto a blank sheet of paper, the vast field was instantly soaked in blood.

Countless longswords pierced the Black Wolves, taking their lives.

Conversely, when the Black Wolves’ claws struck the Knights' armor, they could only leave shallow marks.

A faint layer of light enveloped each Knight's body, greatly reducing the damage from the Black Wolves.

This was the protection of the Magic Pattern Construct!

In terms of numbers alone, the Black Wolves outnumbered the Magic Pattern Knights by more than tenfold, yet from the very beginning of the engagement, it was the latter who gained the upper hand.

Each time a legendary Magic Pattern Knight struck, they could effortlessly slay a Black Wolf.

For the Black Wolves, it often took ten of their own lives to claim a single Magic Pattern Knight.

Looking down from above, the entire plain had become a brutal battlefield, a veritable meat grinder!

Life was constantly being extinguished, almost every second.

Yet, despite the heavy losses, the number of Black Wolves showed no signs of decreasing. More and more poured out of the forest, relentless like a torrent, surging from both sides to encircle the Magic Pattern Knights.

Maiisha’s gaze swept across the battlefield, focusing on the rear of the Magic Knight Order.

From the moment the battle erupted, the Wizard Apprentice who had accompanied the Magic Knight Order began to engrave a Magic Array at the rear.

In under ten minutes, twelve massive temporary Teleportation Arrays had been completed.

With a blaze of arcane energy illuminating the scene, one puppet after another emerged from them.

Stone Golems, Twin Blade Spiders, Steel Golems, Elite Twin Blade Spiders, Mithril Golems... countless golems, moving either heavily or nimbly, fearlessly joined the fray, instantly halting the fading momentum of the Magic Knight Order.

Meanwhile, further away, squads of Magic Pattern Knights were rapidly advancing and would soon reach the battleground.

This was the territory of the Star Alliance; as long as they could withstand the initial invasion and establish a foothold, reinforcements would continually arrive.

Both sides in the war relentlessly funneled in troops, and the battlefield gradually expanded. As far as the eye could see, the mountains and plains were teeming with battling Exotic Beasts, puppets, and knights, covering the entire plain with a faint tendency to spread outward.

High above, Maiisha and Cyril observed the unfolding conflict.

This was a Plane War, where troop deployments easily numbered in the hundreds of thousands, even millions; the scale dwarfed that of ordinary wars.

The conflicts between human kingdoms were mere child's play compared to a Plane War.

And this was just the initial exploratory engagement.

At this moment, the strongest combatants on the battlefield were only of legendary strength. Wizard-level combatants had not yet been deployed, and neither side had truly unleashed their full might.

Mithril Golem swung its massive fists, smashing Black Wolf into a bloody pulp with overwhelming force, occasionally releasing a Shattering Sound Wave that cleared a path through the dense wolf pack.

The Magic Pattern Knights charged into the horde on their Black Rock Leopards, their long swords ruthlessly cutting down Black Wolves. The powerful defenses provided by the Magic Pattern Constructs transformed them into unstoppable tanks, only slightly pausing when confronted by lord-level Black Wolves.

As time passed, more and more Magic Pattern Knights and the Golem Legion arrived on the battlefield, joining the fray. The rate at which Black Wolves emerged from the forest could no longer keep pace with their mounting losses. The Star Alliance gradually gained control of the battle, steadily extending their advantage.

Maiisha observed this and nodded in approval. The Star Alliance's reaction speed was astonishingly quick, preventing the Wolf Tide Plane from mounting a significant surprise attack. Had the wolf tide been allowed to grow sufficiently from the outset, they could have established a strong foothold on the Plane Battlefield.

With a foothold, they would have had the space and time needed to expand their Planar Rift, allowing more wolves into the Starlight Continent. Unfortunately, the Star Alliance denied them that opportunity.

If things continued this way, the wolf pack would find itself gradually compressed into a smaller space, ultimately leading the Star Alliance to counterattack the Wolf Tide Plane. Under these circumstances, Youxi would soon lose patience and likely reveal their true nature.

As if to confirm Maiisha's prediction, the sky over the distant forest suddenly twisted, and five cracks abruptly appeared, expanding rapidly to hundreds of meters in length. From a distance, it looked as if five giant black eyes had opened in the sky.

The next second, five Wizard Towers slowly emerged from the cracks. The towering structures hung suspended thousands of meters above the ground. Even from the earth, one could clearly see the majestic tower bodies, obscuring the sky and filling the space with a sense of insignificance.

"One Medium Wizard Tower and four Small Wizard Towers. Youxi really went all out this time, deploying all their resources."

Cyril's gaze sharpened slightly.

This was the primary reason he could never believe that the Star Alliance could defeat Youxi.

If the Wizard was a sharp blade on the battlefield, then the Wizard Tower was undoubtedly a weapon of war.

One Wizard Tower was worth a thousand troops, let alone five; one of which was even a Medium Wizard Tower!

In contrast, the Star Alliance had only one Small Wizard Tower.

Even if they managed to gain an advantage against the wolf packs, they wouldn't be able to make up for the drastic disadvantage created by the absence of four Wizard Towers.

Ultimately, the foundation of the Star Alliance was lacking.

Just as Cyril felt victory was assured, his gaze sharpened once again.

He saw black dots flying in from the distance, moving with incredible speed and reaching the edge of the battlefield in the blink of an eye.

They were massive metal warships!

The enormous hulls, crafted entirely from metal, shimmered with a cold light under the sun, covered in strange patterns. As they soared, they cast long, trailing shadows on the ground.

Thousands of Flying Magic Ships blotted out the sky, like dark clouds engulfing the area and instantly dissipating the oppressive feeling brought on by the five Wizard Towers.

"What is that?" Cyril asked, his eyes wide with shock.

Maiisha, unsure, stared intently at the Flying Magic Ships, a faint smile gradually forming on her lips.

Su Nan truly hadn't let them down!
