Chapter 197: We Will Meet Again
What’s happening here?
The Dark Elf Matriarch stared in disbelief at the second girl who had appeared.
She looked identical to the one lying on the ground, in both appearance and figure, as if they had been cast from the same mold.
“Wh-what exactly is going on?” Philia Matriarch muttered in shock.
But no one answered her question.
Everyone was in a state of intense astonishment.
It wasn’t until Oroli Matriarch exclaimed that they were roused from their stupor.
“Look at her arm!”
Following her gaze, everyone turned their attention to the severed arm of the girl in the pit, and their pupils instantly shrank.
Lesta Matriarch's face turned ashen immediately.
If it had merely been flesh and blood that resembled mercury, it could still be explained as a peculiar Bloodline. However, the appearance of the second girl made her develop a terrifying suspicion.
The girl they had always thought was a Star Alliance Controller Wizard was very likely just a Puppet!
The other Dark Elf Matriarchs quickly came to the same realization, their faces growing increasingly grim.
“It could also be a pair of twin Wizards,” Philia Matriarch said through gritted teeth, but midway through, she found it absurd.
Wizards were already exceedingly rare, let alone twin Wizards. The likelihood was simply too low.
The truth was obviously singular, and it lay right before their eyes.
It was just that, for the moment, they couldn’t accept it.
After all, if these two powerful girls were truly Puppets, then what level of power would the Wizard who created them possess?
Just thinking about it made their scalps tingle and their backs feel cold.
At the same time, the Half-Spider Monster seemed startled by the sudden appearance of the Secret Puppet girl. An expression of surprise crossed his blood-veined face, but it was quickly replaced by a fierce killing intent.
No matter how many appeared, he would kill them all!
Clang!
With a deafening clash of metal, the Half-Spider Monster swung his blade once more toward the Secret Puppet girl before him.
The battle erupted again.
On the city walls, Xie Man and A'Tier breathed a sigh of relief. It was fortunate that the second Secret Puppet arrived in time; otherwise, losing a Secret Puppet here would have been difficult to explain to their teacher.
Although Xie Man didn’t know the exact cost of a Secret Puppet, she guessed it wasn’t much lower than assembling a Small Golem Legion. After all, it was a puppet comparable to a wizard.
At that moment, the situation on the battlefield above shifted again. The injured Secret Puppet Girl emerged from the deep pit, her entire body covered in a bright, mercury-like sheen. The surface of her skin flowed like quicksilver, rapidly converging on her severed arm, where it squirmed and began to grow new bone and flesh.
In the blink of an eye, her broken right arm had regrown. Her skin then returned to its normal color. Unexpectedly, the fully healed Secret Puppet Girl did not join the attack on the Half-Spider Monster; instead, she retreated.
The other Secret Puppet Girl, who had been fighting the Half-Spider Monster, also withdrew from the battle. Just as the Half-Spider Monster was about to give chase, it suddenly halted, its body stiffening in mid-air. It turned its head abruptly, looking into the void not far away.
There, a figure had appeared at some unknown point, observing it with an intrigued gaze. At the same time, both sides of the conflict noticed the sudden appearance of the figure.
Upon recognizing who it was, Xie Man and A'Tier showed expressions of joy. "Teacher!" they exclaimed.
The person was none other than Su Nan. Although they were puzzled as to why their teacher had shown up here, both Xie Man and A'Tier felt relieved. They had genuinely worried that the two Secret Puppets would be no match for the Half-Spider Monster. But with their teacher's arrival, they felt reassured.
On the other side, the Dark Elf Matriarchs changed their expressions. Just seeing the two Secret Puppet Girls standing quietly behind the newcomer was enough for them to guess the identity of the person.
The true Controller of the Star Alliance—the wizard who had created those two powerful puppets!
"With the Envoy here, there definitely won’t be a problem!" Philia Matriarch said through gritted teeth, as if trying to reassure herself. "So what if it's a wizard? The Envoy is a servant of the God Queen; he can definitely defeat that wizard!"
"That's right!"
“The God Queen's Messenger will not lose to a mere Wizard!”
“We shall see, then!”
Several Matriarchs echoed those words, but their tones lacked conviction, sounding more like attempts at self-reassurance.
The Lesta Matriarch secretly clenched her fists.
Life or death hinged on whether the Envoy could defeat that Wizard!
Su Nan paid little attention to the Dark Elf Matriarchs, his gaze fixed entirely on the Half-Spider Monster before him.
"A Demispider Godspawn, huh." Su Nan's lips curled into a slight smile.
After absorbing countless amounts of Divine Energy, he was now incredibly familiar with its aura. He could distinctly sense the substantial Divine Energy contained within the creature before him.
It was more than the combined energy of the twenty or so Spiderfied Elves!
This was clearly a God-Favored Creature of a much higher level than the Spiderfied Elves.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Su Nan understood.
The Spider God Queen must have realized his intention to use Spider City as a source of Divine Energy and didn’t want to prolong their entanglement. Therefore, she sent a significant challenge his way.
If they could eliminate the Star Alliance, it would be a welcome surprise.
If they failed, they could cut their losses in time.
"Looks like this is the last harvest."
Su Nan felt a twinge of regret.
If the Spider God Queen had noticed his plans even a decade or two later, he might have been able to break through to the first level of Liquefaction using the Divine Energy.
But that was just wishful thinking; the Spider God Queen was not going to be that oblivious.
"Oh well, being able to reap one last bounty isn’t bad either."
Su Nan's eyes gleamed as he stared at the Demispider Godspawn.
In his eyes, the Demispider Godspawn resembled a walking gift package.
Perhaps angered by Su Nan's unwavering gaze, as if he were its prey, the killing intent within the Demispider Godspawn finally overcame its fear. It shrieked and lunged fiercely at Su Nan.
The demon fire enveloping its body left trails of purple light in the void, charging forward like a purple meteor.
Facing the approaching enemy, Su Nan hovered motionless in the air as countless silvery-white liquid droplets, like mercury, surged from the surface of his skin. In the blink of an eye, they enveloped him in a shimmering mass of silver light.
The next instant, a massive hand shot out from the liquid mass like a bolt of lightning, slamming into Demispider Godspawn with the force of a thunderbolt. A deafening bang echoed as Demispider Godspawn was sent crashing to the ground like a cannonball.
Boom!
Billowing smoke and dust erupted, creating a deep crater in the earth.
After smashing Demispider Godspawn into the ground, the hand continued to emerge, followed by an arm and shoulder, then the head and torso.
From a distance, it resembled a silver giant drilling its way out of the liquid mass.
The silver giant then descended from the sky, landing in front of Demispider Godspawn and throwing a punch.
In the pit, Demispider Godspawn struggled to rise, crossing two scimitars to block the incoming fist.
Bang!
The fist collided heavily with the scimitars, unleashing a visible shockwave.
Demispider Godspawn's eight lower limbs slightly bent before straightening again, as a force equal to the fist’s own surged from the two scimitars.
Su Nan raised an eyebrow at the sight.
It seemed Demispider Godspawn's strength was greater than he had anticipated; when he had dealt with Secret Puppet Girl earlier, it had not gone all out. Likely due to the Starlight Continent environment, it was trying to conserve its energy.
Regardless, this Demispider Godspawn was different from the Spiderfied Elf; it was a genuine Wizard-level creature, possessing the strength of a first-grade Vaporization.
In a head-on confrontation, it had the power to kill a first-grade Vaporization Wizard. Otherwise, the Spider God Queen wouldn’t have created it to counter the Star Alliance.
"It seems that ordinary methods won't be enough to deal with this opponent," Su Nan thought, his eyes gleaming with determination.
The silver giant unleashed a flurry of punches, so fast they almost created afterimages, while the muffled impacts blended into a singular sound.
From a distance, it appeared as though Demispider Godspawn was enveloped by a storm of silver fists.
Yet its response was not the least bit inferior. Its twin blades danced at high speed, countless blade shadows weaving into a net that blocked the sky full of fist shadows without a single gap.
Just as the two sides engaged in a relentless back-and-forth, Demispider Godspawn suddenly raised its spider-like limbs, viciously slashing at the silver giant's legs!
At such close range, Su Nan had no time to dodge, nor did he intend to.
The sharp limbs, capable of cutting through steel, struck the silver giant's legs, but they seemed to sink into a quagmire, their speed suddenly slowing.
Demispider Godspawn attempted to forcefully pull its limbs free but felt a sticky resistance that prevented an immediate withdrawal.
At that moment, the giant's body in front of him surged suddenly, like the surface of a lake rippling, and Su Nan abruptly emerged from within.
His right index and middle fingers pinched a gem covered in strange patterns.
His gaze fell on the gem, and Demispider Godspawn keenly sensed that something was amiss.
It forcefully extracted its limbs and tried to retreat immediately.
But it was too late.
In the next instant, blinding lightning erupted, filling the entire field of vision!
Engraved Gemstones Lightning Blast!
As an advanced enchanting technique of Magic Tattoo, the power of Rune Inscription alone was stronger than a Third Circle Spell.
Not only was the energy intensity of Engraved Gemstones more than three times that of Rune Inscription, but crucially, it unleashed all of its energy in a destructive burst, with the trade-off being a one-time consumption and a high cost. However, this resulted in a substantial increase in damage!
Almost instantly, the surging lightning engulfed Demispider Godspawn like a tidal wave!
The deafening thunder drowned out Demispider Godspawn's shrill screams.
The scattered, fine arcs of electricity spread as far as three or four hundred meters, causing the bodies of many Dark Elf warriors, who had not yet retreated, to suddenly stiffen. Before they could recover, their heads were smashed by the paralysis-immune Golem.
Whoosh!
The afterglow of the lightning had not yet dissipated when a figure suddenly burst through the residual lightning and dashed toward the direction of the Dark Elf.
The God-Favored Creature was unafraid, yet it knew how to assess the situation.
Realizing it was no match for Su Nan, the Demispider Godspawn immediately chose to retreat, conserving its remaining strength.
Su Nan coldly regarded the back of the Demispider Godspawn, and with a flick of his wrist, an object materialized in his palm.
It was a jet-black spearhead, no longer than a finger, adorned with lightning-like patterns that covered both sides, faintly exuding a chilling aura of destruction.
This was one of the only two Wizard Artifacts he currently possessed: the 【Black Thunder】.
As Su Nan curled his fingers, dazzling lightning erupted from his palm, rapidly condensing into a long strip that extended quickly.
In the blink of an eye, a jet-black lightning spear had formed in Su Nan's hand.
The spear's shaft, crafted from pure condensed lightning power, radiated a terrifying aura that was enough to make anyone tremble.
From a distance, the Demispider Godspawn immediately noticed this and was struck by shock.
Suddenly, a strange aura enveloped its entire body.
A palm-sized black spider phantom emerged slowly from its back.
Su Nan's gaze sharpened, a cold smile playing on his lips.
"So, you finally couldn't resist making a move."
As soon as the words left his mouth, he violently hurled the jet-black spear.
A sonic boom erupted, nearly piercing the eardrums of those nearby.
The spear tore through the void like lightning, reaching the Demispider Godspawn's back in an instant.
Sensing a formidable threat, the spider phantom twisted, transforming into a graceful and slender female hand that pressed directly against the incoming spear.
With everyone watching, the hand and spear collided, releasing a dazzling light accompanied by both clear and muffled sounds. An invisible shockwave rippled outward, distorting the surrounding void in large areas.
Even from a great distance, onlookers felt the terrifying pressure of energy, making it nearly impossible to remain conscious.
Time seemed to freeze for a moment.
Then, the graceful hand shattered into fragments, turning to ashes that quickly dissipated into the air.
The black spear pierced the back of the Demispider Godspawn, causing its body to stiffen and fall to the ground like a broken kite.
Faintly, Su Nan thought he heard a chuckle full of malice in his ear.
"Young Wizard, we will meet again."
Su Nan narrowed his eyes, ignoring the voice. With a wave of his hand, the corpse of the Demispider Godspawn rose from the ground, floated to his side, and was then stored in his Space Ring.
He didn’t even glance at the Dark Elf army and flew straight toward Bank City.
Behind the battlefield, the Dark Elf Matriarchs stared blankly at Su Nan’s receding figure, their minds a swirl of confusion.
They had lost!
The envoy on whom they had placed all their hopes had just perished with such ease!
They had even witnessed the moment when the God Queen, whom they so faithfully worshipped, had made a move, yet still could not prevent that Wizard's attack.
If even the God Queen was helpless against him, what hope did they have for victory?
Spider City was finished!
In that instant, the same thought echoed in the minds of all twelve Dark Elf Matriarchs.
Boom!
As if to answer their unspoken fears, the gates of Bank City swung wide open, and countless Golems surged out, sweeping toward the battlefield like a torrent.
At the same time, organized, rhythmic footsteps approached from both flanks of the battlefield.
Countless Knights riding Black Rock Leopards and Dragon Antelopes charged swiftly from both sides, cutting through the battlefield like sharp knives as they rushed toward the Dark Elf camp in the rear.
Seeing this scene, the color drained from the faces of all the Dark Elf Matriarchs.
