Chapter 178: Flipping the Table, The Expelled Crowd

Su Nan had never been one to yield to threats.

Since Star Tower wasn't offering him any choices, he decided he wouldn't choose at all.

He’d simply flip the table!

The silver Metal Storm tore through the invisible force field barrier in an instant. The moment Su Nan's fingers brushed against the Construct Potion, he pulled it into his Space Ring.

Without hesitation, he quickly reached out and grabbed the books and Mental Crystal, stowing them away as well.

It was only at this point that Meatball reacted to Su Nan's sudden assault.

[Warning!]

Star Tower is under attack. Defense protocols initiated!

A ray of light descended from the sky, silently striking Su Nan.

The shield surrounding his body shattered instantly, followed by the Energy Particle Protection Layer. The ray finally halted just a few centimeters from Su Nan's skin, creating a small distortion before vanishing.

The defense of the Extreme Protection Ring was instantly reduced by over three hundred points!

Su Nan's eyes narrowed slightly as he glanced toward the top of the hall.

The power of this ray, while not as strong as that of a Spell Turret, was still formidable.

He had to neutralize the ray-emitting device first; otherwise, not even the Extreme Protection Ring would be sufficient to withstand it.

In a flash of insight, Su Nan made his move.

A Steel Golem suddenly materialized above his head, just in time to block an incoming ray.

The Golem was obliterated instantly, shattering into countless metal fragments that scattered in all directions.

Seizing the opportunity, Su Nan located the source of the ray. The Metal Storm changed direction, striking the turret-like device on the ceiling like a torrent, instantly destroying it!

Shua!

The walls of the hall abruptly opened into countless doorways, from which Stone Golems rushed out, surrounding Su Nan from all sides.

"Trying to overwhelm me with puppets, huh?"

Su Nan smiled disdainfully; he wasn't afraid of this at all.

One Stone Golem after another emerged around him, charging fearlessly toward the enemy.

A battle among the Golems erupted in the hall!

The towering Stone Golem clashed strength against strength, solidity against solidity, their giant fists pounding against each other. The dull thuds merged into a deafening roar that echoed endlessly through the hall.

Almost every second, a Stone Golem fell, reduced to rubble.

The battle quickly devolved into a meat grinder of attrition.

Su Nan no longer made a move; instead, he remained vigilant of his surroundings.

He still didn't know what tricks the Star Tower had up its sleeve, so he needed to conserve his strength for the battles to come.

While cautious, Su Nan didn't feel overly worried.

The Star Tower was merely a facility for the inheritance of the Other: Wizard Apprentice, and its size was far inferior to that of a true Wizard Tower. Therefore, its defenses certainly wouldn't be too strong.

He had made many preparations for this operation, bringing two Small Golem Legions along with a number of trump cards, all of which gave him the confidence and backing to turn the tables.

Since the Star Tower wouldn't let him leave, he might as well take it down; the resources inside would become his spoils!

Seemingly realizing that the Stone Golems were no match for Su Nan, those emerging from the doors quickly changed into Steel Golems.

Su Nan didn't stand on ceremony; he released his own Steel Golems and added Elite Double-Bladed Spiders to their ranks. This far outnumbered the Golems sent out by the Star Tower, gradually pushing the battle line toward the surrounding Doorway.

When Su Nan's Golem Legion occupied two of the major halls of the Three Points, the previously silent Meatball phantom finally stirred.

[Detection of increased invasion intensity; defense level now raised to secondary standard!]

Accompanied by a series of buzzing sounds, the entire Star Tower seemed to tremble.

A powerful surge of energy suddenly erupted from the space above the hall.

Su Nan looked up and saw a series of magical arrays, each a meter in diameter, suddenly appearing in the previously empty space. Cannons extended from them, their tips glowing and pulsating with condensed light.

A full eighteen cannons!

In the next moment, with a hum, all eighteen cannons fired simultaneously, unleashing rays as thick as buckets that tore through the void, all aimed at Su Nan!

Unlike the previous, simplified version, these eighteen turrets were genuine Spell Turrets, their power unparalleled.

Su Nan dared not confront them directly. In an instant, the surrounding Elite Double-Bladed Spiders leapt up, using their bodies to shield Su Nan.

However, the attacks of the Spell Turrets could easily eliminate even a Third Circle Legendary Knight, and the Elite Double-Bladed Spiders, with their mere Second-Ring Legendary strength, had no hope of resisting.

Within moments, more than twenty Elite Double-Bladed Spiders were reduced to dust. Their sacrifice only negated four rays, while the remaining beams continued to bear down on Su Nan with unstoppable force.

Seizing the opportunity, Su Nan activated the Mirror Image Technique, splitting into eight clones that scattered in all directions.

The rune rays relentlessly pursued them, quickly catching up and striking the eight "Su Nans." Seven of the clones dissolved into bubbles, and Su Nan’s main body was struck by two rays.

The Shield Spell shattered instantly, and the Extreme Protection Ring's 1,000 points of defense plummeted to zero in a heartbeat.

Fortunately, the power of the rune rays had been significantly weakened by the two barriers, allowing them to be easily blocked by the Magic Pattern Core.

After the attack, Su Nan felt a surge of anxiety.

"I can't let these Spell Turrets continue their assault; otherwise, no amount of protection will hold!"

Without hesitation, Su Nan threw out more than ten High Rune Gems.

When it came to firepower, he would not be intimidated, even by eighteen Spell Turrets.

Boom! Boom!

The deafening sound waves reverberated through the hall, intensifying in their fury!

Alongside them were dazzling elemental glows as rays shot in all directions.

Exhausting his energy without reservation, Su Nan transformed into a human artillery, boldly facing the eighteen Spell Turrets, his resolve unwavering.

One by one, the turrets crumbled and shattered under the relentless bombardment of the High Rune Gems.

In just a dozen breaths, all eighteen Spell Turrets were completely destroyed!

And Su Nan had also paid the price of seven Extreme Protection Rings and more than sixty High Rune Gems.

Taking out the Spirit Beads and holding them in his hand, he began absorbing their energy to replenish his Spiritual Power, secretly rejoicing.

It was fortunate that the Star Tower was not a true Wizard Tower, as it was only equipped with eighteen Spell Turrets. Otherwise, had it been the standard configuration with hundreds of Spell Turrets firing simultaneously, even with the Extreme Protection Rings and Magic Pattern Core, he would have been instantly reduced to slag.

In the brief moment that Su Nan had destroyed the Spell Turrets, the Golems sent by the Star Tower had completely fallen into a disadvantage, beaten down to the point where they could hardly lift their heads.

Seeing that Su Nan's Golem Legion was about to rush into the Doorways, the Star Tower did not hesitate to shut down all of them.

[Detection of intrusion intensity has increased, defense level will now be raised to level three!]

[Warning: Level three defense program has been activated. All non-essential energy consumption will be suspended, and non-combat facilities will cease operation!]

As the voice faded, the enormous metal gate in the center suddenly opened, and massive figures emerged from it.

They resembled deformed Ogres, but were much larger in size, standing over twenty meters tall.

Their flesh was taut, as if made of clay, and beneath their skin, countless tortured and distorted faces could be seen, as though other creatures were trapped within, desperately trying to break free.

Instead of a face, there were no features—only a deep black void.

"Deep Dark Golem!"

Su Nan's expression grew more serious.

This type of evil Golem was made from flesh, blood, and souls. Its materials came from creatures that had endured extreme torture, and as such, it carried with it immense malice, pain, and despair.

Due to the sinister methods of creating these materials, very few Wizards could refine Deep Dark Golems; only those Wizards (or Apprentices) who specialized in Undead types could create such malevolent Golems.

The combat power of a Deep Dark Golem surpassed that of a Mithril Golem, already reaching the Fourth Circle Legendary level.

And the number of Deep Dark Golems that had emerged from behind the gate was four in total!

"Su Nan realized this must be Star Tower's final battle sequence!

"Ah!!!"

A pained howl erupted from the dark voids in the Deep Dark Golem's face. The voice, filled with despair and agony, sent a throbbing pain through Su Nan's head, causing him to lapse into a daze. When he regained his senses, four Deep Dark Golems had already infiltrated the Golem Legion, charging toward him like a hot knife through butter.

Outside Star Tower, after Su Nan's group had entered the tower, the hidden crowd surrounding them could no longer contain their excitement. They emerged one by one, attempting to breach Star Tower using various means. Unfortunately, all their efforts were in vain. Some unfortunate souls appeared to have inadvertently violated a taboo, only to be reduced to dust by the Spell Turret.

For a moment, the crowd stared at Star Tower, helpless, like hungry individuals eyeing a delicious cake they couldn’t reach. Suddenly, the open space in front of the tower flashed with light, and more than ten figures appeared out of thin air. It was none other than the Truth Council's group and also Scepter, Rose, Traveler, and Ke Yi, who had entered not long ago.

"What just happened? Why am I out here?" McVeigh exclaimed in bewilderment. He had been fully focused on flipping through the Spell books, preparing to conquer this level as quickly as possible when his vision suddenly blurred, and he found himself back outside the tower. What was going on?

No one answered his question. Everyone, including Megison, was equally confused, exchanging puzzled glances. Scepter's group was also at a loss, completely clueless.

"What happened?" one asked.

"Did we touch some rule that expelled us?" another suggested.

"That doesn't seem likely. Look, even the Truth Council's group has been teleported out," someone pointed out.

"Then what exactly... wait! Why isn’t Su Nan out?" Ke Yi's question snapped the others into focus.

That’s right—everyone who entered had emerged, so where was Su Nan? Could he still be inside the tower? The four exchanged glances, a single thought flashing through their minds. Could the current situation be related to Su Nan? If it was indeed Su Nan, it didn’t seem impossible for him to cause such a scenario."

"It would be more accurate to say that the current situation is completely related to Su Nan."

"Something's wrong; Su Nan didn't come out!"

On the side of the Truth Council, Evans quickly noticed that Su Nan hadn't been teleported out like the others.

McVeigh's expression darkened as he spoke in a deep voice, "Everyone else was teleported out of the tower except for Su Nan. It must be his doing. Arrest his accomplices and interrogate them!"

"Don't waste your energy; those people clearly don't know anything," Fabio remarked, glancing at the four members of Scepter, who looked just as confused.

"But this situation is likely tied to Su Nan. What exactly did he do?" he continued, scratching his head in contemplation.

Everyone was at a complete loss.

"No matter what occurred, our top priority now is to figure out how to re-enter the tower," Megison stated softly, frowning as he looked at the Rune Stone in his palm.

"It's no use," Fabio admitted, having already tried. "The Key isn't responding."

Skeptical, the others attempted to activate the Key several more times, but to no avail—regardless of how they tried, it simply would not work.

Feeling helpless, the crowd turned to Megison, waiting for him to make a decision.

After a moment of silence, Megison's grim expression suddenly sharpened as he pointed to a middle-aged man in armor nearby, clearly a member of the Legendary Knights. "You, go attack the Star Tower!" he commanded coldly.

The middle-aged Knight's expression shifted dramatically. "What do you want from me?"

McVeigh quickly caught on to Megison's plan, stepping forward to glare at the middle-aged man. "Either you attack the Star Tower, or you die. Choose!"

The other members of the Truth Council also cast hostile looks in the Knight's direction.

Though the middle-aged Knight hesitated, he ultimately realized he couldn’t oppose a dozen Level Three Wizard Apprentices.

With a pale face, he reluctantly approached the Star Tower. After a brief moment of doubt, he gritted his teeth and unleashed a Sword Qi before quickly retreating, eyeing the top of the tower as if facing a formidable enemy.

The previous unfortunate souls had been killed by the beam of light that struck down from the tower!

But nothing happened this time.

The top of the tower remained eerily still.

Seeing this, the middle-aged Knight couldn’t help but express relief, feeling as if he had narrowly escaped disaster.

Megison and the others exchanged puzzled glances.

"It seems something unexpected has happened within the tower," Fabio said, frowning as he lost himself in thought.

"Why worry about that?" McVeigh replied eagerly. "Since attacking Star Tower doesn't provoke any retaliation, we should go all out. As long as we break through the Defensive Magic Array, we can re-enter the tower even without the Key!"

Everyone agreed with his assessment.

Without delay, Megison and the others launched their assault, and in an instant, countless spell projectiles rained down upon Star Tower.

The barrier of the Defensive Magic Array surrounding the entire tower rippled violently.

Observing the actions of the Truth Council's group, Scepter immediately understood.

"They're trying to break through with brute force!"

Traveler hesitated. "Should we join them?"

The three exchanged glances, and without much deliberation, they joined the ranks attacking Star Tower.

Ke Yi hesitated for a moment before joining in as well.

He didn’t feel the same urgency toward Star Tower as the others did.

After all, he had already consumed the Dawn Potion.

In comparison, he was more concerned about whether Su Nan had encountered any danger inside the tower.

Nonetheless, breaking through the Defensive Magic Array and investigating the tower would resolve any uncertainty.

With the two strongest groups now taking action, the other onlookers quickly grew restless and joined the siege as well.

Once the Defensive Magic Array was broken, the doors to Star Tower would be open to them too.

This thought lifted many people’s spirits.
