Chapter 166: If You Could Capture This Monster Alone

Rose and Red Heart turned and flew away without hesitation.

Although they were filled with doubt and surprise, neither of them was a fool. They understood that whatever had caused Night Owl and the others to flee in such disarray must be incredibly dangerous.

At a time like this, even a moment of curiosity could lead to unimaginable consequences. The only thing to do was run.

After flying for three or four hundred meters, Rose suddenly heard a strange noise behind them.

It sounded like a multitude of wings flapping in unison.

She glanced back out of the corner of her eye, and her eyes widened.

"What is that?"

Five or six hundred meters behind them, a bizarre creature was rapidly closing the distance.

The monster appeared to be composed entirely of wings. White, feathery wings were intertwined to form a mass. It had no head, no limbs, and no facial features. Aside from the dense collection of wings, it had only a long tail trailing behind it.

All the wings flapped simultaneously, pushing up, down, left, and right, all at once. Such an unusual method of flying should have resulted in chaotic movement, yet the winged creature flew both swiftly and steadily.

It was as if the wings were merely decorative, and it was actually using some other means to propel itself.

"What kind of creature is that?"

Seeing Night Owl and the others catching up, Red Heart couldn't help but ask.

Night Owl's expression was grave. "I don't know either. We were searching for you when we encountered that monster behind us. It attacked us as soon as we saw it. We were no match, so we had to run."

Rose and Red Heart exchanged glances, both half-convinced.

Night Owl, Black Forest, and Hunter were all formidable fighters. For the three of them to be forced to flee from a single monster was truly hard to fathom.

However, they didn’t have to doubt it for long.

The Multi-Winged Monster pursuing them suddenly flapped its wings several times faster, its body slightly expanding as if it were taking a deep breath.

In that moment, Night Owl and the others could clearly feel the airflow shifting within the tunnel.

And then!

"Aaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!"

A horrifying howl echoed throughout the tunnel, the terrifying sound waves spreading like a shockwave, accompanied by intensely powerful energy fluctuations. Death followed in the wake of that sound, crashing down on everyone like a landslide.

In an instant, the group of wizard apprentices all grunted, their faces behind their masks contorted in pain as their flying forms involuntarily halted.

Seizing the opportunity, the Multi-Winged Monster swiftly closed the distance. Its dense wings flapped violently, stirring the air into countless razor-sharp currents that shot out, striking the Red Heart at the rear!

Almost immediately, the Red Heart's Shield Spell, Energy Particle Protection Layer, and Magical Item Protection were torn apart by the onslaught of air blades. In the next moment, its body was pulverized into a shower of blood mist.

Recovering from the shock, the group’s expressions changed drastically. Without bothering to chant spells, they activated their Magic Items, and in an instant, multicolored lights engulfed the Multi-Winged Monster.

After that, they hurriedly accelerated their escape.

Leaving no strength to conserve, everyone unleashed their life-saving techniques, their speed now significantly faster than before.

However, not long after, a rock wall suddenly appeared ahead.

A dead end!

Night Owl gritted his teeth and shouted sternly, "Break the wall!"

At that moment, everyone reached a tacit understanding. Without another word, they unleashed their most powerful attacks, slamming into the rock wall at the end.

Boom!

The thick rock wall shattered instantly, revealing a dark, gaping hole behind it.

The group did not slow down, rushing through the opening.

Their vision suddenly darkened before gradually regaining some light.

Beyond the opening was another vast cave.

They glanced around, their gazes suddenly halting.

Not far away, Su Nan, Traveler, and Scepter Three were surrounding Iro.

Both sides, upon meeting, were momentarily stunned.

Night Owl was about to speak when his expression abruptly changed, and he quickly dodged.

Rose, Hunter, and a few others did the same.

Boom!

Countless qi blades erupted from the opening, shattering the stone wall and widening the gap several times over, before the Multi-Winged Monster burst forth from within.

"What is that?"

Traveler and Scepter were both taken aback.

They had initially thought that Night Owl and the others had encountered Saulo and Stone Scorpion, which explained their disheveled state.

But now it seemed that wasn't the case; they were apparently being pursued by this strange, winged creature.

Even more shocked was Su Nan.

He stared intently at the Multi-Winged Monster, uncertainty flashing in his eyes.

The creature before him resembled exactly the statue they had discovered in Giant Eye City.

"Is this monster the Divine Being that the Eye Demon worships?"

Su Nan was filled with doubt.

After conquering Giant Eye City, he had instructed Red Widow to send people to seek out this Divine Being's whereabouts, but they had never found it. He never expected to encounter it at this moment.

However, considering that this place wasn't too far from Giant Eye City, it wasn't surprising for this Divine Being to appear here.

"Be careful! This monster is very strong!" Rose said seriously. "Red Heart died at its hands! It can use Banshee's Howl!"

Upon hearing this, the expressions of Scepter and Traveler turned somber.

Banshee's Howl was notorious for being an instant-death attack with an extensive area of effect, possessing unprecedented destructive power.

Creatures with Physique and Spirit below a certain level would bleed from all seven orifices and perish the moment they heard Banshee's Howl.

Even creatures that could resist it would suffer grave injuries.

Although a Level Three Wizard Apprentice possessed considerable Physique and Spirit, they would not be able to completely withstand Banshee's Howl.

Su Nan, upon hearing this, merely curled his lip and remained silent.

While the others had only seen descriptions of Banshee's Howl in ancient texts and were not very familiar with the technique, he had witnessed it personally in his previous life.

The true Banshee's Howl was an ability that even a Formal Wizard feared.

If this Divine Being was employing the real Banshee's Howl, Rose and Night Owl would never have been able to escape!

"What Banshee's Howl possesses is at best a similar sonic ability, not much different from Death Knell Striker's Sonic Attack.

That being said, this Divine Being can easily take down Red Heart; its strength has undoubtedly reached Fourth Circle Legend, and it might even be slightly stronger.

With that thought, Su Nan's expression grew more serious.

"Chirp, chirp!"

As if it had never encountered so many humans at once, the Multi-Winged Monster was momentarily stunned. After regaining its composure, it shrieked and flapped its wings, whipping up large blades of air that attacked everyone.

Having rejoined their companions, Night Owl and the others felt a surge of confidence. They halted their flight and began to fight back.

Su Nan scanned his surroundings and noticed that Iro was already gone, likely having seized the opportunity to escape amid the earlier chaos.

This woman, adept in Illusion, was a master at concealing her tracks. If it weren’t for her attempting to use Illusion against him earlier—only to be injured by Funeral Bell Mark and forced into the open—capturing her would have been quite challenging.

Reining in his thoughts, Su Nan shifted his focus back to the Multi-Winged Monster.

Right now, dealing with this Divine Being was the priority!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Deafening roars echoed in the sky above the Cave!

The multicolored light of the Spell illuminated the Cave, making it appear as bright as day.

The Multi-Winged Monster was likely the first creature on Starlight Continent in nearly a thousand years to be besieged by seven Level Three Wizard Apprentices.

And it truly deserved such attention.

Despite the combined assault of seven individuals, it did not falter. It manipulated air currents to envelop its body, blocking Spell attacks while continuously flapping its wings to unleash large blades of air in counterattacks. It also summoned lightning intermittently, catching everyone off guard.

"Air currents and lightning; this creature’s Divine Energy must be connected to divine authorities such as the sky and air," Su Nan mused to himself.

The power of a Divine Being is dependent on the divine authority associated with its Divine Energy.

For example, Shrieking Aberration's Divine Energy relates to sonic waves.

Based on its abilities, it’s easy to deduce the divine authority linked to this Multi-Winged Monster before him."

"Regardless, a Divine Being represented Divine Energy and a Bloodline Mark, and it wasn't easy to encounter one. Su Nan certainly wasn't going to let this opportunity slip away.

“Everyone, how about claiming this Divine Being for myself?” Su Nan said loudly.

Amidst the fierce battle, everyone was taken aback by Su Nan’s words, nearly getting struck by the incoming wind blades.

Night Owl looked at Su Nan with confusion and replied, “It's too early to make such claims. We should focus on defeating this monster before discussing the spoils.”

However, Rose immediately caught on to Su Nan's intention. “You want to capture it alive?”

“That’s correct,” Su Nan nodded calmly.

Everyone couldn't help but express their surprise.

They were already struggling to hold off this monster, and whether they could kill it was still uncertain. The idea that Su Nan wanted to capture it alive seemed far-fetched!

"Now is not the time for jokes," Black Forest said, displeased. "Instead of talking big, why don't you help us deal with this monster?"

"I'm not joking."

Su Nan's expression remained composed as he casually unleashed a Magic Missile, slightly deflecting the attack of the Multi-Winged Monster.

"It's better to discuss the distribution of spoils in advance to avoid disputes later."

Black Forest replied irritably, "If you can capture this monster alive by yourself, then it's yours!"

“It’s a deal!” Su Nan said, looking at the others. “What do you all think?”

Night Owl and the others exchanged glances, simultaneously ceasing their fight and retreating.

Their curiosity had been piqued.

If they couldn’t collectively defeat the monster, how did Su Nan plan to capture it alive?

Even Traveler and Scepter, who had seen Su Nan's power before, thought he might be a bit overconfident this time.

Clearly, this monster was not something one person could handle alone.

Moreover, capturing it alive posed a far greater challenge than simply killing it.

Yet, they all knew that Su Nan was neither impulsive nor reckless. There must be a reason behind his action, and they were eager to see Su Nan's plan unfold.

Having reached his objective, Su Nan no longer held back. The silvery metal liquid instantly oozed from his pores, quickly forming into metal spikes that filled the sky, raining down upon the Multi-Winged Monster!

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle!"

That which could easily withstand the crowd’s attacks, the Spell "Airflow Barrier," crumbled in just three or four breaths under the assault of Metal Storm, sharp points tearing across the Multi-Winged Monster's body and leaving a trail of bloody gashes.

"Chirp, chirp!"

The Multi-Winged Monster emitted a cry filled with pain and anguish.

The spectators couldn't help but gasp at the sight.

"What was that?"

"Such a powerful attack!"

"Was that a magic item?"

Rose and Traveler, who had previously encountered the Magic Pattern Core, also stared in wide-eyed astonishment.

They could clearly sense that the power of the Magic Pattern Core seemed even greater than it had been before.

Ignoring the reactions of those around him,Su Nan didn't hesitate to activate the Funeral Bell Mark on the back of his hand.

A piercing sound wave instantly swept out, causing the Multi-Winged Monster’s body to abruptly freeze in place.

Seizing the opportunity, Su Nan decisively threw out three High Rune Gems, which transformed into golden-red flames and slammed down onto the Multi-Winged Monster.

At the same time, four gray Calamity Claws materialized out of thin air, fiercely clawing down at the Multi-Winged Monster.

The Multi-Winged Monster was the most powerful creature Su Nan had encountered thus far, so he went all out from the start, pulling out nearly all of his trump cards without hesitation.

High Rune Gems were thrown as if they were free, and Ring of Calamity were used up and replaced immediately.

Under Su Nan’s relentless barrage, the Multi-Winged Monster was rendered helpless, letting out a series of anguished cries, unable to retaliate and left only to desperately endure.

The members of Secret Forest Hut stood by, dumbfounded, their expressions blank.

They never imagined that Su Nan would be able to suppress that monster!

And what were those gray giant claws and gems covered in runes?

Magic items?

But while the gray giant claws were impressive, the power of those gems clearly exceeded the capabilities of ordinary magic items. What exactly were they?

As they came back to their senses, the crowd subconsciously swallowed hard.

The power that Su Nan was displaying at this moment was simply terrifying.

He was on an entirely different level than they were.

It was only then that they realized they had severely underestimated Su Nan; his true strength far exceeded their expectations!

After a barrage of attacks, the Ring of Calamity in Su Nan's hand was the first to become depleted. The Funeral Bell Mark on the back of his hand had also expended three charges, leaving only one remaining. He had also used more than twenty High Rune Gems.

Despite the enormous expenditure, the results were impressive. The Multi-Winged Monster lay on the ground, barely breathing and covered in blood.

Su Nan casually fired a Magic Missile, causing the Multi-Winged Monster's body to convulse and let out a wail, but it could not rise again. Only then did he confirm that the monster had finally lost its ability to resist, and he couldn't help but sigh in relief.

After all, it was a Fourth Circle Legend-level Divine Being. Out of caution, he had utilized most of his trump cards, and even his Spiritual Power was nearly exhausted. If that wasn’t enough to defeat the Multi-Winged Monster, he would have to rely on his last resort.

If possible, Su Nan still did not want to go that far. It wasn’t a safe time; Saulo was still nowhere to be seen, and that individual might be lurking nearby, watching from the shadows. He needed to keep something in reserve just in case.

Approaching the Multi-Winged Monster, Su Nan took out a Gem and began to draw a Seal Array. His previous research on the Death Knell Striker had provided him with methods to weaken Divine Beings, which he now applied to the Multi-Winged Monster.

Whoosh!

At that moment, a black shadow suddenly shot out from an opening, carrying a foul, stinking wind, and fiercely attacked Su Nan from behind.
