Chapter 164: You’re the One Who’s Isolated
The crowd had never expected the enemy to pull a stunt like this.
Caught completely off guard, before they could even escape the cave, they were buried under a landslide of massive rocks!
Rumble!
The noise was deafening as dust billowed into the air.
Su Nan felt his vision suddenly darken, and then the ground vanished beneath him, sending him plummeting downward.
In an instant, Su Nan decisively activated his Magic Pattern Core to encase his entire body. Combined with the defenses provided by the Extreme Protection Ring and the Shield Spell, the falling boulders couldn't hurt him in the slightest.
Immediately after, he activated the Levitation Spell from his Invisibility Robe, quickly stabilizing his descent and hovering in mid-air.
Gradually, the roaring sounds around him began to lessen.
No more rocks were falling from above.
He was in another massive cave, but this one had an irregular, giant hole about seven or eight meters in diameter above him. He couldn't see where it led, only a dark, bottomless void.
That was where he had fallen from.
The Underworld terrain was complex, resembling a gigantic, intricate honeycomb.
Su Nan wasn't surprised to see another cave adjacent to this one.
What astounded him was that the Stone Scorpion could execute such a powerful, wide-ranging attack, completely collapsing the entire cave and drastically altering the surrounding landscape!
This was definitely beyond the capabilities of a Wizard Apprentice's spell or magic item.
"Bloodline ability, huh?" Su Nan mused.
This had to be some kind of earth manipulation ability that allowed them to reshape the environment.
Otherwise, if the Stone Scorpion's true power really allowed them to alter large areas of the environment so easily, they would be no less formidable than a formal wizard. They could have simply killed them all on the spot without needing to go through all this trouble.
But with that, the encirclement had been broken.
If the members of the Eternal Life Society used this opportunity to escape, then their entire operation would be deemed a failure.
"Although, those lunatics probably won't leave that easily."
"As if to confirm Su Nan's thoughts, a section of the rock face, forty or fifty meters ahead, slowly bulged out and quickly solidified into the form of a Stone Scorpion.
"Indeed," Su Nan chuckled, his gaze sweeping over the Stone Scorpion. "Choosing to fight in a place like this is a huge mistake that you will come to regret."
The Stone Scorpion slowly detached itself from the rock face, hovering in mid-air, its gaze directed down at Su Nan like a hunter gazing at its trapped prey.
"This is my domain!" it declared. "In a place like this, surrounded by earth and stone, no one can stand against me!"
Su Nan's eyes flicked to the scorpion tail behind the Stone Scorpion, and he suddenly sneered. "Stop putting on airs. Isn't it just Shattering Shriek? You're clearly of the Stone Singer Bloodline, yet you're acting like some kind of Earth Element creature."
Upon hearing this, the Stone Scorpion's expression froze, its pupils narrowing sharply. How did this guy know?
Stone Singers were extremely rare. If he hadn't fused with a Stone Singer Bloodline, he wouldn't even have known that such an ancient bloodline existed. He had never disclosed his Bloodline to anyone, not even to his companions from the Eternal Life Society.
How could the man before him see through his disguise at a glance?
Seeing the bewildered look on the Stone Scorpion's face, Su Nan chuckled inwardly. In his previous life, he had encountered a Wizard who had fused with a Stone Singer, but its external features were slightly different from those of the Stone Scorpion before him, so he hadn't recognized it at first.
However, when it used Shattering Shriek—a signature ability of the Stone Singer Bloodline—he immediately made the connection.
Stone Singers were terrifying and peculiar creatures made of flexible, deformable stone, roughly resembling scorpions. They were adept at using their songs to manipulate earth and stone, creating effects similar to those of Earth Element spells.
Of course, what the Stone Singers called songs were merely ear-piercing noises to human ears. While their ability to manipulate earth and stone was inferior to that of true Earth Element practitioners, they possessed petrification abilities as well.
Any creature struck by a Stone Singer's tail would be petrified. The Stone Singer would then drag its petrified prey back to its nest, force it to listen to its song, and consume it when hungry to absorb the nutrients."
Su Nan remembered that the Starlight Continent no longer existed, much like the Stone Singer. Even in the future Era of Elemental Revival, Wizards were captured from other realms, but the Stone Singer was not among them.
The Stone Scorpion before him had managed to fuse with the Stone Singer Bloodline, a stroke of undeniably good luck. In today's Starlight Continent, this power was one of the few that was both formidable and had little impact on one's temperament. Its Bloodline Rejection response was so low that it could be considered negligible compared to the Ancient Bloodline.
"Your insight is quite surprising," he remarked.
The Stone Scorpion, now regaining his composure, sneered repeatedly. "Unfortunately, this doesn't change your fate. Now that you and your companions are separated, I'll kill you first, and then I'll deal with the others!"
His icy tone was filled with chilling killing intent.
Su Nan, however, was unfazed. He smiled faintly and replied, "You're the one who's alone."
As soon as his voice fell, countless gray mists suddenly swirled around the Stone Scorpion, rapidly condensing into massive gray claw phantoms. With piercing sounds, they lunged fiercely toward him.
"Calamity Claws!"
Stone Scorpion's expression changed instantly. Wasn't this the ability of the Dim Magic Item, Ring of Calamity? But he clearly recalled that the Ring of Calamity could only summon one Calamity Claw!
Su Nan was a bit surprised as well; he hadn't expected the Stone Scorpion to recognize the Calamity Claws. It seemed he had encountered it in some Wizard Codex.
Understanding the power of the Dim Magic Item, the Stone Scorpion decided against taking it head-on and swiftly dodged. However, the four Calamity Claws pursued him relentlessly, like a maggot burrowing into bone.
Feeling helpless, Stone Scorpion opened his mouth and let out a long roar. Instantly, cracking sounds echoed as the surrounding rock walls splintered open. Countless rubble pieces gathered and converged, forming a thick rock wall in front of him.
With a resounding crack, the four Calamity Claws tore the rock wall to shreds. Seizing this opportunity, the Stone Scorpion prepared his spell and emitted a sharp shriek.
"Shattering Sound Wave!"
With the enhancement of the Stone Singer and the Bloodline, the power of the Shattering Sound Wave was amplified several times. The visible distortion instantly shattered the Calamity Claws into a puff of gray smoke, which slowly dissipated into the air.
However, before Stone Scorpion had a chance to revel in his victory, more gray mist emerged from the void, solidifying once again into four Calamity Claws that viciously attacked!
Stone Scorpion's expression changed drastically. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of Su Nan just in time to see him remove four rings from his left hand and replace them with four new ones.
The next second, another four Calamity Claws appeared!
Seeing this, Stone Scorpion's heart sank. His face twisted in disbelief.
Half of it was shock; the other half was jealousy.
This guy actually possessed more than ten Rings of Calamity!
Was he a wholesale dealer of Dim Magic Items?
Why would he have so many Dim Magic Items?
This time, Stone Scorpion couldn't dodge. After expending all his strength to annihilate four of the Calamity Claws, the remaining four pierced through his body.
With eerie hissing sounds, invasive energy surged through Stone Scorpion, causing him to stiffen in mid-air. He couldn't help but let out a miserable scream.
Even more horrifying events unfolded for Stone Scorpion.
Another four Calamity Claws emerged from the void.
Wait, how did four more appear?
Not again!
As he stared at the dense cluster of gray claw phantoms before him, Stone Scorpion's eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
Just how many Rings of Calamity did Su Nan possess?
Whoosh!
More than ten Calamity Claws pierced through Stone Scorpion's body simultaneously, draining away his life force and inflicting severe damage on his soul.
In Su Nan's perception, the aura of Stone Scorpion's soul abruptly weakened, flickering like a candle in the wind.
Struck by such a heavy blow, Stone Scorpion plummeted from mid-air, landing with a thud on the ground.
Lightning shot down from afar, piercing his brow with a soft hiss.
As his consciousness plunged into eternal darkness, a single thought flashed through Stone Scorpion's mind.
It was indeed him, the lone wolf!
Su Nan might be alone, but the number of Dim Magic Items he had on hand was simply absurd!
He would have been better off facing multiple Level Three Wizard Apprentices!
A hundred meters away, Su Nan slowly retracted his palm, glancing at the four rings on his left hand.
The cave environment of the Underworld was indeed very suitable for utilizing the abilities of the Stone Singer Bloodline. If the Stone Scorpion had gained the upper hand, it would have taken considerable effort to deal with him.
Therefore, Su Nan decisively used more than twenty Rings of Calamity in one go, quickly and decisively ending the Stone Scorpion.
It was a pity that this Level Three Wizard Apprentice, whose power was no weaker than Bloodmaw and Magic Hand, didn’t even have the chance to fully unleash his abilities before being crushed by Su Nan's equipment advantage!
If he had known that Su Nan's Space Ring still held more than twenty Rings of Calamity, he would have surely been desperate enough to bash his head against the wall.
After switching to a new Ring of Calamity, Su Nan released his Spiritual Power to sense the surroundings.
Unfortunately, the natural magnetic field and geographical environment of the Underworld greatly limited methods of exploration like Spiritual Power.
After sensing for a moment without any results, Su Nan shook his head and randomly chose a direction to fly toward.
Whoosh!
The blazing waves of flame crashed heavily against the rock wall, instantly leaving a patch of scorched and cracked earth behind.
Ear-splitting laughter echoed throughout the cave.
He had transformed into a flaming giant over sixty meters tall, with a demonic appearance and two horns on his head. His head was nearly touching the ceiling of the cave, and he continuously attacked Scepter, Traveler, Puvidor, and others with his massive fists.
The scorching heat caused the air temperature to rise constantly, distorting the very atmosphere around them.
The enormous cave had already turned into a scorched hell, with several charred corpses lying in the corners—those were the members of Holy Fist.
At the moment the battle had erupted, several one-ring Legendary Knights were cleanly and decisively killed by Ember, not even having time to display their abilities.
“A bunch of rats in the gutter!”
“Can’t you do more than just hide?”
Ember shouted wildly, trying to provoke Scepter and the others into confronting him head-on.
"However, the latter remained completely unmoved.
A faint golden light enveloped the Scepter from head to toe, rendering him immune to the surrounding high temperatures. His speed became incredibly swift, allowing him to nimbly dodge Ember's punches. The source of the golden light was the Scepter he held.
Moments before, right before everyone’s eyes, Scepter had pulled this Scepter from his body. It appeared to be crafted from solid gold, radiating a dazzling light, with its top adorned with countless rare gems.
On the other side, Traveler also relied on the protection of the Azure Spirit Branch, making him immune to the heat and flames. Ember struck Traveler several times, but each blow was blocked by the Azure Light surrounding him.
In contrast to Traveler and Scepter, Puvidor and Moss found themselves in a much more desperate situation. The two could only rely on Elemental Power to withstand the high temperatures, and soon fatigue marked their faces, clearly indicating their energy was being rapidly depleted.
Noticing this, Scepter frowned secretly. He raised the Golden Scepter, and a beam of golden light shot from its tip, striking the void a hundred meters away like an arrow, causing ripples to spread outward.
In the next moment, a beast-like hoof emerged from the ripples. Then came another foot, followed by a torso, arms, and a head. Soon, a creature with a canine head and a human body appeared in the void. At first glance, it resembled a Kobold, but a closer inspection revealed it to be entirely different.
Unlike the dirty and emaciated Kobolds, this dog-headed creature was burly and robust, exuding an air of heroic spirit. It wore what appeared to be high-quality armor and wielded a large broadsword.
“Mastiff Head Spirit Envoy!”
Traveler was taken aback, glancing at Scepter in astonishment. This was an extremely rare and powerful interdimensional creature, yet Scepter had managed to summon it. Was it random, or was it a designated summoning target bound by a contract?
After scanning the area, the Mastiff Head Spirit Envoy immediately locked onto its target and charged toward Ember like an arrow. The latter swung a massive fist, but the Mastiff Head Spirit Envoy easily dodged it, swiftly bringing its sword down."
"Clearly, it was just a two-meter-long, wide-bladed greatsword, yet as it pierced through, it also cleaved the fiery arm, which was four or five meters wide.
"Ah!!"
Ember let out a deafening scream, clutching his arm and staggering backward.
Traveler's eyes lit up instantly.
So that was it: the Mastiff Head Spirit Envoy's attacks were imbued with a strong Positive Energy, while Ember, having fused with the Magma Ghost Worship Bloodline and transformed into a flame giant, was a blend of Fire Element and Negative Energy. The Mastiff Head Spirit Envoy was a natural counter to him.
But before Traveler could rejoice for long, a gushing sound of rushing water erupted beside him.
Looking up, he saw a torrent cascading down from nowhere, completely filling his vision!
Boom!
The massive wave slammed into Traveler with such force that it nearly knocked him from the sky.
Alarmed, Traveler felt the Azure Light on his body flare up suddenly, and in the next instant, the surrounding water vanished without a trace.
Looking around again, he noticed that the ground and rock walls were completely dry, without a hint of moisture.
Not far away, Scepter's face was grim.
Just a moment ago, the Mastiff Head Spirit Envoy had also fallen victim to the Illusion and had been jointly defeated by Ember and Iro.
"Not again!" Scepter cursed inwardly.
From the start of the battle until now, similar situations had occurred more than once.
Every time they were about to gain the upper hand, the hidden Iro would launch a sneak attack, turning the tide.
This woman’s Illusion ability was extraordinarily strong. Even though they had information on Hunter and had taken the Clarity Potion beforehand to increase their resistance to Illusion, they could not completely withstand it.
If it weren't for Iro's interference, he and Traveler would have already defeated Ember!
