Chapter Ninety-Seven: The Plan
Although these news reports were quite headache-inducing, Old Master Wu learned from them that Yang Haoran and the two others were in trouble, and he also discovered their location. Therefore, he immediately took action. For such matters, given his identity and status, it was merely a phone call, especially since Yang Haoran and the two others hadn't actually done anything wrong.
“The three of you,” Old Master Wu said, looking at Yang Haoran and the others with a smile, “I, this old man, have invited you several times recently, yet none of you were willing to come sit at my home. Could it be that I, this old man, have offended you three in some way? ”
Indeed, Old Master Wu had invited Yang Haoran and the two others multiple times during this period. However, none of them had accepted. Especially Ma Ling. Ma Ling wasn't a local of Lecheng, but she had been invited by Old Master Wu. Yet, Ma Ling wasn't even willing to stay at Old Master Wu's house, preferring to lodge in a hotel by herself, which had given him quite a headache.
“Old Master Wu, what are you saying? ” Yang Haoran explained with a smile. “As you know, my injuries haven't healed, so I haven't left my home during this time. Tonight is my first time out. ”
“I don't feel comfortable staying at your place; I prefer to live alone outside,” Ma Ling said, her words remarkably direct. “As for why I don't go to your home to sit, you are all ordinary people, and I don't have much in common with you. Even if you aren't embarrassed sitting together, I'd feel awkward. ” One could say she didn't give Old Master Wu any face at all.
Old Master Wu wasn't angry either; he merely smiled amiably.
“I need to accompany my girlfriend, so I'm busy,” Wang Yiming said, shaking his head, feeling quite dejected. “After tonight, I might not even have a girlfriend anymore. ”
His words, however, piqued the interest of Yang Haoran and Ma Ling.
Ma Ling immediately perked up and asked with an excited expression, “Was that woman named Chen Ying just now your girlfriend? ”
Ma Ling burst into laughter, saying, “Just now, some people were still making fun of Uncle, saying they were lucky to have a girlfriend, and a decent one at that. Who knew they'd be slapped in the face so quickly? It's truly retribution coming as fast as a tornado! ”
Wang Yiming, who already had a grim expression, had his entire face darken upon hearing Ma Ling's words.
“You have the nerve to lecture me? ” Wang Yiming asked, his face still grim. “You were far more cutting when you mocked Brother Yang than I was. I want to ask you, where's your retribution? ”
“Heh heh, my retribution is probably still on the way,” Ma Ling chuckled smugly. “But it's very poor, it can't afford a car, so it can only walk to find me. As for how long it will take to reach me, honestly, I don't know. ”
Wang Yiming glared at Ma Ling, unable to utter a single word for a long while. It was at this opportune moment that Old Master Wu spoke up.
“Since everyone is gathered together,” Old Master Wu said with a smile, “why don't we change locations and sit for a while longer? Anyway, it's still early tonight, and since young Ma Ling is about to leave Lecheng, we can use this opportunity to see her off. ”
Ma Ling's spirits lifted upon hearing this. She laughed, saying, “This young lady hasn't had enough to drink yet! I like Old Wu's suggestion! ”
Yang Haoran didn't refuse either. The problem with the Yin Qi clinging to him hadn't been resolved yet, and sitting somewhere else for a while longer might yield a result. Regardless of whether this result was what he wanted, he was desperate to know.
“Let's go, let's change places and drink to our heart's content! ” Wang Yiming exclaimed. “My shoes are already soaked anyway; I'm not afraid of getting my pant legs wet again! ” Wang Yiming was feeling upset and wanted to drown his sorrows in alcohol, so he didn't refuse either.
“Then let's go to my house,” Old Master Wu said with a smile. “In this old man's eyes, hosting guests at home is the highest standard. Besides, our chef's skills are quite good. Most importantly, I have a lot of fine wine I've treasured at home, haha! ”
Upon hearing they were returning to the villa, Ma Ling was initially unwilling. But upon hearing there was a lot of treasured fine wine at the villa, her unwillingness turned into eagerness.
“Then what are we waiting for? Let's hurry! Don't waste any more time here! ”
Urged by Ma Ling, Old Master Wu smiled and led the three out of the hotel. They then got into Old Master Wu's luxury car and headed towards the villa they had visited last time.
Returning to the Wu family villa, the chilling sensation had already vanished. Yang Haoran sensed for a moment and found that the villa was currently very clean.
The arrival of Yang Haoran and the two others immediately livened up the Wu family villa. Wu Xiaoxiao, who had already been preparing for bed, immediately changed her plans, changed into clothes she thought were very beautiful, and came along to join the fun.
Wu Senior was originally out for social engagements tonight, but with one phone call from Old Master Wu, he immediately rushed back to the villa in a flurry.
The guests Wu Senior was entertaining tonight were very important to him. However, in comparison, Yang Haoran and the two others were even more important; Wu Senior had personally witnessed their abilities, so he very well understood why his father valued the three of them so highly.
As for money, the Wu family had plenty of it. But no matter how rich they were, they weren't willing to offend people like Yang Haoran and his kind. In their view, the more connections they made with such individuals, the more beneficial it would be for themselves and the entire Wu family.
If someone from their Wu family could become one of these people, then the help to their Wu family would be even greater!
Therefore, upon learning of the arrival of Yang Haoran and the two others, without Old Master Wu needing to say more, Wu Senior immediately dropped his engagements and rushed back to the villa at the fastest possible speed.
With others present, Yang Haoran and the two others no longer chatted as freely as before. They had, to some extent, become more reserved. Overall, however, the group still got along quite pleasantly. ra
When they left the Wu family villa, it was already past eleven o'clock at night. Normally, Old Master Wu would have been long asleep by this time, but tonight, not only was he awake, he even personally saw Yang Haoran back to his convenience store. This clearly showed just how important Yang Haoran was in Old Master Wu's heart.
Yang Haoran truly couldn't refuse Old Master Wu's enthusiasm, so he could only choose to accept. As for why Old Master Wu valued him so highly, he was well aware, but chose not to reveal it.
While facing Old Master Wu, Yang Haoran hadn't shown his true emotions. It wasn't until Old Master Wu had left that the smile on his face gradually faded, replaced by an expression of melancholy.
Why was Wang Yiming able to lock his power fluctuations within his body, preventing even a trace of energy from leaking out? It was because he had used an energy-sealing talisman beforehand.
Talisman Masters of the Talisman Order usually wouldn't use energy-sealing talismans. So why did Wang Yiming use one beforehand on the day he entered the Wu family villa? It was because he worried that if his power fluctuations leaked out, the ghosts in the villa would sense his presence, and if the ghosts escaped because of it, then things would become much more troublesome.
Therefore, so as not to startle the snake by beating the grass, he used an energy-sealing talisman beforehand to lock all his power fluctuations within his body.
What disappointed Yang Haoran was that this type of energy-sealing talisman was only useful for Talisman Masters. It had no effect whatsoever on the Yin Qi clinging to Yang Haoran; even if Wang Yiming gave him an energy-sealing talisman, it wouldn't achieve the result he desired.
Wang Yiming had no solution whatsoever for the Yin Qi on him. He then placed his hopes on Ma Ling. After all, Ma Ling's strength wasn't bad either, but Ma Ling was equally helpless against the Yin Qi on him. As long as Spirit Power existed, the Yin Qi on him would continuously cling.
Receiving such a result, Yang Haoran's disappointment was inevitable. Ma Ling seemed to have noticed his disappointment and promised him that once she returned home, she would ask her family elders if they had any solutions.
According to Ma Ling, her Ma Family had many capable individuals. Within the family, she was merely a junior. Her inability to handle the Yin Qi on Yang Haoran didn't mean her family elders couldn't either.
For this, Yang Haoran was very grateful to Ma Ling. A little hope also welled up in his heart, though this hope wasn't particularly strong.
“I can't place all my hope on Ma Ling,” he mused. “It seems I must find other methods. ”
As he thought this, a person suddenly came to Yang Haoran's mind: Emissary of Death Deng Feng!
“How could I have forgotten him? ” he wondered. “All Night Watchers in Lecheng are under his jurisdiction. He might be able to give me the result I want. But how can I approach him? ”
After pondering for a moment, he found no immediate clue. He could only temporarily put the matter aside. After purifying his hands and worshipping the Death God, he left the convenience store.
Although he had drunk a fair amount of alcohol tonight, he didn't plan to simply fall asleep. He hadn't collected many souls during this period. If he didn't pick up the pace, by the end of the month, he would be disgraced, inevitably subjected to Xu Meijing's ridicule.
To mock the other party, or to be mocked by the other party? Yang Haoran, of course, chose the former. He certainly didn't have a masochistic tendency.
Therefore, to avoid being passive in front of Xu Meijing, and to make himself stronger, he needed to collect more souls.
Under the cool moonlight, Yang Haoran walked with his hands in his pockets, seemingly aimlessly, but in reality, he was sensing the presence of ghosts nearby. At the same time, he was also pondering how to approach Emissary of Death Deng Feng.
If he could approach Emissary of Death Deng Feng, then the benefits for him would be countless. After all, Deng Feng was his boss; getting close to one's boss certainly wouldn't result in few benefits. Even if Deng Feng couldn't deal with the Yin Qi on him, he could still gain other things.
However, how to approach Deng Feng was the question.
If one wanted to approach a person, one must start from their hobbies; only then would the approach be twice as effective with half the effort. However, he wasn't familiar with Deng Feng, so naturally, he didn't know what Deng Feng's hobbies were.
Approaching someone without knowing their preferences wasn't impossible to succeed at, but it was very time-consuming and required extreme caution. Otherwise, it could easily backfire.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, Yang Haoran suddenly stopped. It wasn't because he had sensed the presence of a ghost, but because he had thought of a way to approach Deng Feng.
“His specific hobbies? I don't know them,” he muttered. “But there's one thing he definitely likes! ”
Thinking this, Yang Haoran looked at the Soul-Gathering Bead embedded in his ring.
Under the moonlight, his shadow stretched long. He put his hands back into his pockets and resumed walking.
