Chapter 938: Devastating Strike

Yang Haoran felt a jolt of surprise. The Talisman Masters, watching from a safe distance, were likewise utterly astonished.

As for the Talisman Order faithful, while a flicker of nervousness crossed their hearts, it was overshadowed by fervent zeal and blind trust in Talisman Master Han, their divine messenger.

They hadn't even considered the consequences should Talisman Master Han unleash this torrent of talismans upon Yang Haoran, devastating the very ground they stood on. All they could think was, "Talisman Master Han is incredible! Truly a messenger of the gods!"

"Talisman Master Han, please stop! Don't be rash!"

At that moment, the Elder's face was pale as he roared anxiously at Talisman Master Han, expending all his strength.

His urgency stemmed from several factors. On one hand, killing Yang Haoran would undoubtedly bring trouble to their An City Talisman Guild. Setting aside whether Yang Haoran's Night Watchers would seek revenge, the Underworld Office would definitely send someone to demand an explanation.

On the other hand, should all of Talisman Master Han's talismans descend, the temple they were currently in would not just be thoroughly destroyed, but certainly shattered to smithereens.

While killing Yang Haoran might sate their anger, a closer look would reveal it to be a losing proposition, not worth the cost.

Of course, this was merely from the Elder's perspective. From Talisman Master Han's standpoint, his thoughts were naturally quite different.

In Talisman Master Han's view, even if the temple here were destroyed, it mattered little. Someone would later fund and construct an even grander temple for their Talisman Order. Therefore, he cared nothing for the temple's destruction; his sole concern was whether Yang Haoran would perish under his strike!

He did not respond to the Elder, nor did he even spare him a glance. Under the Elder's anxious gaze, his body suddenly shot into the air, hovering mid-flight. A vast amount of Talisman Spirit Power surged from within him. With a violent sweep of both hands, hundreds of faintly glowing talismans, like soldiers receiving orders, charged fearlessly towards Yang Haoran below!

In this situation, Yang Haoran merely needed to boost a portion of his power to break free from the Immobilization Talisman's restraint and shatter Talisman Master Han's immense assault. But he hesitated for a moment, ultimately abandoning the idea of increasing his power.

As a swarm of talismans descended like locusts, Yang Haoran, having made his decision, wasted no time. He immediately used his consciousness to manipulate his Soul Armament, Remnant Moon, to defend against Talisman Master Han's attack.

Under his conscious control, Remnant Moon hummed, instantly growing massive once more, blocking the space diagonally above him!

In such a scenario, his only option was defense. If he launched an attack on Talisman Master Han, Talisman Master Han might not be dead yet, but his own physical body would have already been blasted to dust by the barrage of talismans.

The talismans struck Remnant Moon in unison, instantly unleashing a blaze of fire, howling winds, lightning, and thunder. The incessant roars of impact echoed, creating a scene of doomsday.

The ground quaked violently, as if it had transformed into a surging body of water, and cracks appeared one after another. Nearby buildings collapsed as a result, and even the massive Talisman Ancestor statue inside the temple was not spared. After swaying several times, it finally toppled, smashing the main hall behind it to smithereens.

Although these talismans struck Remnant Moon and not the temple directly, the rampant power that diffused after hitting Remnant Moon was terrifying. Without protective enchantments, barriers, or other special means to shield the temple, the structures within it naturally could not withstand such destructive force.

The Elder was consumed by anxiety. He had wanted to protect the collapsing statue, for the Talisman Ancestor statue was the banner of their Talisman Ancestor Temple, his faith, and his spiritual pillar. Naturally, he did not want to see the statue fall before his eyes.

However, he ultimately gave up on protecting the statue, as the faithful present required his protection. If he were to protect the statue, the safety of these faithful could not be effectively ensured. Thus, he could only watch helplessly as the statue crashed down, shattering the main hall behind it.

Given his current physical condition, even if he abandoned the faithful present to protect the statue, it would merely be a suicidal act. Not only would he fail to protect the statue, but he would also lose his own life, as such rampant power was simply beyond his current weakened state to endure.

He himself was well aware of this, yet he showed no fear. If not for the need to protect the faithful present, even if he knew it meant his death, he would have unhesitatingly gone to protect the statue. For he was a true believer of the Talisman Ancestor, much like the faithful present, but also somewhat different.

On the other side, Yang Haoran was simultaneously using his existing power to break free from the Immobilization Talisman's negative effects and controlling his Soul Armament, Remnant Moon, to block Talisman Master Han's talisman attacks. However, his situation was far from optimistic.

In just one exchange, Remnant Moon vibrated violently, struggling to withstand such a fierce onslaught. When the Talisman Ancestor statue was affected and collapsed, Remnant Moon could hold out no longer, emitting a series of crisp cracking sounds before developing dense, intricate cracks.

The next instant, Remnant Moon shattered with a crash, directly engulfed by the various elemental powers released by the talismans. Not a trace of the Yin Qi it transformed into upon dissipating could be seen; only raging flames filled the sky, and continuous bolts of lightning!

Although Remnant Moon could be re-condensed after shattering, Yang Haoran simply had no time in the current situation. Before Remnant Moon could reform, he was drowned by the powers of different attributes.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Deafening roars echoed one after another. The already violently shaking ground, subjected to such a fierce assault, quaked even more severely. Originally, some structures within the temple had remained largely unaffected, but after such a ferocious attack, none were spared; all collapsed, and the entire temple was reduced to ruins.

Pfft!

The Elder spurted a mouthful of fresh blood, then immediately fell straight down, his fate unknown.

Just now, to protect the safety of the faithful present and prevent them from losing their lives to the spreading rampant power, he had chosen to overdraw his body, casting a protective barrier that shielded all the faithful.

Due to the considerable distance and the formidable defensive capabilities of the barrier he conjured, he successfully saved the lives of the faithful present. However, he himself ended up in an unknown state of life or death.

Yang Haoran's location had now become a sea of fire, with flames reaching dozens of meters high. Intense heat waves radiated outwards, as if intent on melting everything in the world.

Within these fierce flames, one could see electric snakes slithering, fiery vortices whipped up by the strong winds, and shattered stones of varying sizes splashing about, but Yang Haoran's figure was nowhere to be seen.

Above the temple, Talisman Master Han ignored the scorching heat waves rising from the sea of fire below, and did not even glance at the temple that had been reduced to ruins. He gasped for breath, his eyes fixed on the raging inferno below, all his attention focused on the blazing fire.

After a few ragged breaths, a smile involuntarily appeared on his face. From his reaction, it was clear he was delighted.

He was indeed very happy, for he could no longer sense Yang Haoran's power fluctuations. The moment the various elemental powers engulfed Yang Haoran, his power fluctuations abruptly vanished, and no matter how carefully he sensed, he could not detect them again.

In his opinion, there was only one explanation for this situation: Yang Haoran was dead, perished under his strike.

He was not surprised by this outcome at all. The power of those hundreds of talismans just now could only be described as terrifying. Yang Haoran, having been struck, was absolutely beyond any hope of survival!

Eliminating Yang Haoran meant getting rid of his major source of worry. As for the aftermath, he would figure out other solutions later. While it might entail some trouble, it was definitely preferable to Yang Haoran still being alive.

"Heh heh, Yang Haoran, oh Yang Haoran, you brought this upon yourself; you can't blame me. If you had just pretended nothing happened and stayed quietly in the Lecheng Underworld Office, wouldn't that have been good? Why insist on seeking revenge like others? Now look, not only did you fail to get revenge, but you also lost your life. Why was that necessary? You, the Emissary of Death of the Lecheng Underworld Office, have been laid to rest by me today. It's just that my method of laying you to rest was a bit simple and brutal. I'm afraid you won't like it much."
