Chapter 934: Death is the Only Solution
The instant the golden barrier shattered, the Elder immediately dodged with the fastest speed he could muster. Unfortunately, his evasion was still half a beat too slow; he managed to avoid some chains, but two still struck his body, sending him flying again just as he had regained his footing.
The Elder’s body crashed into the temple, skidding across the floor for a distance before finally coming to a halt beneath the Talisman Ancestor statue.
Large mouthfuls of fresh blood spurted from his mouth. His wrinkled old face instantly turned as pale as paper, devoid of any color, looking as if his life was fleeting.
In such a short time, he had been struck by Yang Haoran from outside the temple all the way inside, and had landed so disgracefully before the Talisman Ancestor statue, in front of numerous faithful followers no less. This caused him to completely lose all his face.
Already heavily wounded, the Elder, upon thinking of this, was so enraged that he spat out another large mouthful of fresh blood beneath the Talisman Ancestor statue. Under the dual assault of physical and mental trauma, his eyes darkened, and his mind grew dizzy.
Yang Haoran’s figure flickered, like a black bolt of lightning, instantly appearing before the Elder. The Elder, already on the verge of collapsing, sensed Yang Haoran’s arrival and had no choice but to bite down hard on his tongue, using the searing pain to stimulate his nerves and force himself to regain consciousness.
He chose to do this purely out of desperation. If he didn’t immediately rouse himself, the consequences would be unimaginable; Yang Haoran could easily kill him.
At the same time, the surrounding Talisman Order followers, seeing the Elder in distress, reacted with immense changes in their expressions.
Someone shouted, immediately resonating with the other followers present. They snapped out of their shock; some directly charged at Yang Haoran, hoping to injure him with their fists, while others casually picked up broken stones and bricks from the ground, intending to use these crude, brutal weapons against Yang Haoran.
Although they were all ordinary people, without any special power within their bodies, they all held faith, and were incredibly devout to the deity they worshipped—so devout, in fact, that they were willing to sacrifice their lives.
It was precisely because of this that, upon seeing the Elder injured and Yang Haoran appearing ready to strike him again, they could no longer stand by. Without fear of death, they all rushed towards Yang Haoran, displaying a formation ready to sacrifice themselves for their faith.
Yang Haoran’s expression remained unchanged. He simply smiled and glanced at these followers. Without any visible movement from him, a large number of black chains appeared out of thin air in the space. Like the tentacles of an octopus, or perhaps a strange swarm of black snakes, they instantly bound the followers tightly.
Though these faithful followers had no fear of death, in the face of absolute power, their blind courage proved useless. It was utterly impossible for them to hinder Yang Haoran’s steps.
"Yang Haoran, I know you. You are the Emissary of Death of the Lecheng Underworld Division. Our Ancheng Talisman Order and your Lecheng Underworld Division have no past grudges or recent enmities. Why are you causing trouble here?"
The Elder subconsciously retreated half a step, his gaze wary as he looked at Yang Haoran, asking in a weak voice.
When Yang Haoran had announced his identity just now, the Elder had already shown shock and confusion. He was shocked by Yang Haoran's status and puzzled as to why Yang Haoran, as the Emissary of Death of the Lecheng Underworld Division, would come to their Ancheng Talisman Order to cause trouble.
However, he hadn't had time to ask before Yang Haoran attacked him again, forcing him to suppress the confusion and shock in his heart.
Now that Yang Haoran was right in front of him and hadn't immediately moved against him, he instantly vocalized the confusion in his heart. He wanted to know what was truly happening, otherwise, even if he died, he would die without understanding.
"Elder, your Ancheng Talisman Order indeed had no enmity with our Lecheng Underworld Division, but that was in the past. Now, the enmity between your Ancheng Talisman Order and my Lecheng Underworld Division is great—so great that it will require deaths to resolve this issue."
As Yang Haoran spoke these words, a smile remained on his face as always, but the Elder sensed the killing intent hidden beneath them. However, his confusion did not dissipate because of Yang Haoran's words; on the contrary, he became even more perplexed than before.
"My Ancheng Talisman Order has never had any interaction with your Lecheng Underworld Division. How could we have any enmity with you? If there isn't a reasonable explanation for today's events, then you can expect our Talisman Order to come knocking. Even if you kill me now, our Talisman Order will still seek justice for me!"
The Elder suppressed the anger in his heart and spoke in a deep voice to Yang Haoran.
Although the Elder’s words carried a clear threat, what he said was indeed the truth. If this matter wasn't handled properly today, it was certain that the Talisman Order would go to the Lecheng Underworld Division to seek justice from Yang Haoran. After all, the Talisman Order also had its face, and they cared deeply about the reputation of their sect.
Yang Haoran's actions today were a blatant slap to their Talisman Order’s face, and delivered in front of numerous faithful followers. If this incident spread, it would not only cause some followers to form opinions about their Talisman Order, but also make them a laughingstock among other sects, greatly impacting their Ancheng Talisman Order and even the entire Talisman Order to some extent. Therefore, if this matter wasn't handled well, it would certainly bring immense trouble to Yang Haoran.
Yang Haoran had naturally considered this point, and had long since formulated a countermeasure in his mind. If he didn't even have a plan, he wouldn't have recklessly run into someone else's temple to cause trouble, let alone injure so many Talisman Masters in front of a crowd of followers. He would never do something so rash.
"Heh heh, Elder, what you're saying now is precisely what I wanted to say. If your Ancheng Talisman Order doesn't give me an explanation for today's events, not only will I, Yang Haoran, not let it rest, but our Underworld Office will likely also come to your Talisman Order for an accounting."
Yang Haoran’s words left the Elder utterly bewildered. It was clearly Yang Haoran who was causing trouble in their Talisman Order today, so why should their Talisman Order give *him* an explanation?
"What nonsense are you spouting? You caused trouble in our Talisman Order, and injured so many of our Talisman Masters, and you still want our Talisman Order to give *you* an explanation? Are you insane?"
The Elder spoke in an angry voice. He wanted to roar furiously at Yang Haoran to vent his inner rage and dissatisfaction, but he was so weak now that even speaking felt tiring. How could he possibly have the strength to roar at Yang Haoran?
Though he lacked the strength to shout, the Elder’s facial expression and tone were both filled with indignation.
"Your Ancheng Talisman Order conspired with your An City Administrative Courtyard to frame me, and even sent people to Lecheng to assassinate me. Tell me, shouldn't I come to your Talisman Order for an explanation? " Yang Haoran asked with a smile.
At these words, the Elder, who had been full of rage, suddenly froze. Judging by his reaction at that moment, he probably had no knowledge of the collaboration between Han Fushi and Qin Yefeng.
"Elder, someone wants to kill you, and they even came to your doorstep to do it, using your friend as bait. If it were you, what would you do?"
Seeing the Elder's stiff expression, Yang Haoran asked with a smile, his tone light and calm, betraying no hint of anger, as if he were discussing a trivial matter.
But the Elder certainly didn't believe that. The more nonchalant Yang Haoran appeared, the more dangerous he felt it was.
"Don't try to smear me! You say our Han Fushi and the Administrative Courtyard went to Lecheng to assassinate you, do you have proof? !"
The Elder spoke in a deep voice, his tone less angry than before, and lacking some of its previous confidence. Because if everything Yang Haoran said was true, then this matter was truly troublesome.
"Heh heh, I'm not crazy. If I didn't have conclusive evidence, would I travel all the way to your Ancheng Talisman Order to cause trouble?"
Yang Haoran asked with a smile, his question causing the Elder to pause once more.
Indeed, if Yang Haoran didn't have conclusive evidence, why would he travel from Lecheng to their Ancheng Talisman Order to cause trouble and injure so many Talisman Masters? Only someone with a problem in the head would do something so detrimental and self-defeating.
For a moment, the Elder had no reply, because he felt that Yang Haoran wasn't lying. Furthermore, their Ancheng Talisman Order and the Lecheng Underworld Division truly had no past enmity, so Yang Haoran had no reason to lie.
"Yang Haoran! How dare you! To think you'd dare cause trouble on my territory! You must be tired of living!"
