Chapter 851: Do You Regret It?
Yang Haoran knew that Xu Meijing was also an ambitious person; it could even be said that her ambition was no less than his own.
However, though both ambitious, Xu Meijing was different from him. She possessed a pride he lacked, while he possessed a shrewdness—or perhaps, a cunning—that she did not.
He never denied Xu Meijing's decisions, nor did he impose his own ideas upon her. On the contrary, he supported every choice she made.
Therefore, he didn't try to dissuade Xu Meijing; instead, he offered encouragement—which, of course, could also be interpreted as flattery.
"Heh heh, I know your capabilities. If you desire something, you'll surely attain it. Nothing in this world can halt your progress."
Though Xu Meijing knew Yang Haoran was flattering her, she was still quite pleased. It wasn't that she enjoyed flattery in general; it depended on who was delivering it.
"If your flattery were as skillful as your lying, I'd certainly be even happier."
Xu Meijing teased with a smile, while Yang Haoran, completely unblushing and unfazed, responded earnestly.
Xu Meijing chuckled, appearing very amused, and retorted to Yang Haoran.
"Heh heh, what do you think?"
Yang Haoran considered it for a moment, then replied.
"I think, well, it's fine if others don't believe me, Yang Haoran, but you must believe me."
Xu Meijing gave Yang Haoran a smiling sidelong glance, then waved her hand dismissively.
"Tch, enough. Stop with these useless theatrics. There's still much to do in Ancheng, so I won't linger here. I have many matters to attend to."
Seeing Yang Haoran about to speak, Xu Meijing cut him off directly, forcing him to swallow the words he was about to utter.
"Don't bother me with dividing spoils. I am an Emissary of Death, and I don't have Demon Hunters under me, so I have no use for Demon Hunter items. As for how you deal with those things, that's up to you. Whether you give them to that Demon Hunter or feed them to your flirtatious white snake, do as you please. I won't interfere."
When Xu Meijing said this, she started off fine, but as soon as she mentioned "white snake," her tone suddenly shifted, becoming noticeably sarcastic.
The "white snake" she spoke of naturally referred to Bai Xue. Yang Haoran knew these two women didn't get along, and he felt a bit helpless about it. He wanted to explain, but he was afraid that the more he explained, the more complicated it would become, eventually landing him in trouble. So, he simply changed the subject directly.
"It's fine if we don't divide the spoils, but aren't you curious about what my second Soul Armament is after I opened my Earth Soul? " Yang Haoran asked with a smile.
"I have no interest. I'll see it eventually anyway."
With her words spoken, Xu Meijing gently set down her teacup, then tore through space and departed, without the slightest hesitation or delay, leaving Yang Haoran with a frozen smile on his face.
He watched Xu Meijing leave until the spatial rift completely healed before Yang Haoran finally reacted. The rigid expression on his face softened, but he couldn't help but gently shake his head, letting out a sigh.
"Sigh, women."
Xu Meijing still didn't take any of the spoils from this battle. Yang Haoran didn't try to persuade her, partly because he understood Xu Meijing's personality – even if he argued, it wouldn't change the outcome, unless one day her proud nature changed.
Furthermore, he had a grand gift he intended to give Xu Meijing. Compared to that gift, these spoils were utterly insignificant. Rather than wasting time on such trifles, he was better off using that time to advance his plans and deliver that grand gift to Xu Meijing sooner.
As for Xu Meijing's claim that these spoils were useless to her, that was merely an excuse. Even if she had no personal use for them, she could still exchange them with other Demon Hunters for things she desired. Her refusal was partly due to her personality, and partly because she knew that Yang Haoran needed these items more than she did.
With Feng Xiao's assistance, and Yang Haoran's own efforts, Yang Haoran's injuries recovered well. However, the Soul Crystal within his body could not be fully refined in a short period.
Although the Soul Crystal had caused Yang Haoran some harm, the benefits he gained were even more astonishing. The Soul Crystal in his body was not yet fully refined, but his strength had seen an incredible increase, making him far more powerful than an Emissary of Death who had just opened their Earth Soul.
If he could fully refine the remaining Soul Crystal within his body, his strength would receive an even greater boost.
Upon returning to the villa, the Pure Yin Qi continuously surged from Yang Haoran's body. However, this Pure Yin Qi was not wasted; instead, it permeated the entire Mountain River Grand Array. After he spent some time successfully suppressing the Soul Crystal within him, this Pure Yin Qi was quickly absorbed and refined by him.
Of course, during this period, several other individuals in the villa also reaped significant benefits. For example, Old Master Wu, Xiujuan, Xiao Kang, the two Wu brothers, and Wu Xiaoxiao all absorbed a considerable amount of Pure Yin Qi into their bodies.
They dared to absorb this Pure Yin Qi solely because Yang Haoran explicitly instructed them to. Otherwise, they certainly wouldn't have recklessly absorbed it.
As Yang Haoran absorbed more and more Pure Yin Qi, his suppression of the Soul Crystal within him became relatively easier. To date, there had been no further instances of Pure Yin Qi gushing out from his body.
Only after successfully controlling the Soul Crystal within him did he allow Feng Xiao to treat his injuries. Although he hadn't fully recovered to his peak condition, he had at least regained 50 to 60 percent of his strength, and all the wounds on his body had completely healed.
After Xu Meijing left, Yang Haoran had no intention of staying in the study any longer, as he had many matters to attend to. The most urgent task at hand was to handle the aftermath concerning Old Master Wu's family.
Ever since returning to the villa, Yang Haoran had been busy dealing with his own issues and had no time to attend to Old Master Wu's family. He could only temporarily arrange for the remaining family members of Old Master Wu to stay in the villa.
Now that his injuries were under control and the Soul Crystal within him had been successfully suppressed, he was free to handle other matters. Therefore, he decided to address Old Master Wu's affairs first.
The villa had many rooms, so even with three additional occupants, it didn't pose any burden. When Old Master Wu had built the villa, he not only made it large and grand but also left plenty of spare rooms. There were more than enough rooms here; even if they weren't, some unused activity rooms could be converted into bedrooms.
Although the arrival of the three hadn't burdened the villa itself, it had created some extra work for Xiujuan, as she was responsible for their food and daily needs, making her somewhat busier than usual.
When Yang Haoran arrived in the living room, Old Master Wu was sitting alone, drinking tea. His face was calm, betraying no emotions, yet Yang Haoran still caught a glimpse of unconcealed sadness in his eyes.
Yang Haoran knew that Old Master Wu hadn't fully emerged from his grief. Even though he deliberately suppressed it, preventing his inner sorrow from erupting, he couldn't deceive Yang Haoran's eyes. Seeing Yang Haoran approach him, Old Master Wu emerged from his thoughts, set down his teacup, stood up, and bowed slightly, offering a respectful greeting.
"Boss."
Old Master Wu greeted him, then said no more, quietly waiting for Yang Haoran's instructions.
"Old Wu, there's no need for us to be so formal. Please, have a seat first."
Although Yang Haoran said this every time, Old Master Wu did not follow his wishes, because he knew what should be done and what shouldn't. Some things, even if Yang Haoran said they were unnecessary, he would still do them. And some things, if Yang Haoran said they couldn't be done, then they absolutely couldn't be done.
Old Master Wu was an old hand, he understood these principles and naturally knew what to do, what not to do, and when to do it.
Seeing that Old Master Wu had no intention of sitting down, Yang Haoran said with a smile.
"Sit down, there are no outsiders here, it's fine."
Hearing Yang Haoran say this, Old Master Wu finally sat down opposite him.
He sat ramrod straight, while Yang Haoran leaned back slightly into the sofa behind him, letting out a sigh.
"Sigh, Old Wu, do you regret it?"
