Chapter 839: Unexpected Helper

The Demon Hunter's strike missed its target, but unexpectedly destroyed the formation. Just as he was about to continue his assault on Xu Meijing, he immediately took out the Array Disk he had only just put away, and re-activated the formation.

Meanwhile, Xu Meijing, after consuming the antidote Yang Haoran had given her, seized the moment while the Demon Hunter was activating his Array Disk to launch another attack.

The Demon Hunter chose not to clash head-on with Xu Meijing. He dodged, and only after the formation had fully reformed did he put away his Array Disk, then actively confronted Xu Meijing!

The two sides resumed their fierce battle, their violent collisions shaking heaven and earth. However, both intentionally avoided the formation, unwilling for their attacks to damage it.

In truth, Xu Meijing, just like the Demon Hunter, did not wish for the formation to shatter. She, too, did not want outsiders to know her true strength. Without the formation to conceal their auras, drawing other spectators would expose her real power, causing her considerable trouble.

Watching the two sides clash once more, Yang Haoran thought of a way to help Xu Meijing. However, this method was quite risky; he might even lose his life.

But in the current situation, he couldn't afford to worry about that.

Just as Yang Haoran was preparing to put his idea into action, the space not far in front of him suddenly rippled violently.

This sight instantly made Yang Haoran's expression grim, for he knew someone was about to forcibly tear open space here.

The shattered formation had now reformed, and to forcibly tear open space from within the formation, the newcomer had to be at least at the same realm as Xu Meijing and the Demon Hunter.

Yang Haoran naturally had a guess as to the identity of the newcomer. He believed it was highly likely to be the Female Hunter!

The Female Hunter had gone to pursue Old Master Wu and his two companions. Although she hadn't returned yet, he believed she was still searching for their tracks in the nearby mountains. Perhaps she had already found them, or perhaps not, but she shouldn't be too far from here.

The recent shattering of the formation meant that the powerful energy fluctuations emanating from this place must have been sensed by her. She knew an unexpected turn of events had occurred, and thus rushed back immediately.

These were merely Yang Haoran's conjectures, but facts proved his guess correct. The spatial rift opened, and a figure emerged. This person was none other than the Female Hunter.

The Female Hunter now held a wooden sword in her hand. It was twisted and gnarled, looking like a random vine plucked from the roadside.

Although its appearance was peculiar, the wooden sword constantly emitted a faint green glow, instantly revealing it to be no ordinary item.

Along the blade of the wooden sword were patterns resembling vines. Yang Haoran remembered these vines vividly; they were the very ones that had forcibly dragged him from outside the formation into it earlier.

However, none of this was the main point. The crucial detail was that this wooden sword also bore five Demon Markings, meaning that this seemingly worthless junk, picked up casually from the roadside, was in fact a Five-Marked Demon Weapon, a treasure of the same caliber as the great axe her man wielded!

After the woman stepped out of the spatial rift, she completely ignored Yang Haoran, not even sparing him a glance. She directly held her wooden sword and shot towards Xu Meijing.

The reason she chose to tear space open not far in front of Yang Haoran, instead of directly near Xu Meijing, was her concern that the immense power unleashed by their battle might interfere with the formation of the spatial rift. That was why she chose a relatively safe place to manifest.

Although she appeared near Yang Haoran, her primary target was not him, but Xu Meijing. Therefore, after emerging from the spatial rift, she didn't even glance at Yang Haoran, but shot directly towards Xu Meijing.

From her demeanor, it seemed she was preparing to team up with her man to eliminate Xu Meijing.

"Don't worry about my side; I can handle this Underworld Official. You kill Yang Haoran first, lest he pull any dirty tricks from behind. "

Upon hearing this, the woman paused abruptly in mid-air. Under her perception, she indeed found that the power fluctuations emanating from Xu Meijing were not as strong as her man's, and significantly weaker. In such a situation, it was unlikely that Xu Meijing could defeat her man.

Moreover, Yang Haoran was just an Underworld Official who had opened his Heaven Soul, and he was currently severely wounded. Such a character could be instantly killed with a single move.

However, one point troubled her greatly, but she didn't voice this concern, fearing it would distract her man.

"I understand. "

The woman merely responded with a deep voice, then turned to face Yang Haoran. Without hesitation, she swung her wooden sword at him, seemingly intent on dispatching Yang Haoran with a single strike.

She had previously stated that she wanted to properly torment Yang Haoran first, and only then kill him. But now, her actions contradicted her earlier words.

It wasn't that the woman didn't want to torment Yang Haoran further; it was that she currently had no time to do so, which was why she decisively struck to kill.

Green sword energy whistled forth. Yang Haoran knew he couldn't block this strike, so he tried to dodge. However, just as he prepared to evade, numerous green vines suddenly sprouted from beneath his feet, instantly binding his legs tightly.

Yang Haoran's expression shifted; he knew he couldn't dodge this strike.

Xu Meijing, who was locked in battle with the Male Hunter, saw this and wanted to break free to forcibly rescue Yang Haoran. But the Demon Hunter was well-prepared, constantly suppressing her, making it impossible for her to disengage.

He had already allowed Xu Meijing to successfully break free once before, and he certainly didn't want to suffer the same loss a second time!

The sword energy was about to strike Yang Haoran when, at that very moment, the space in front of Yang Haoran violently fluctuated. A spatial rift appeared, and before anyone could clearly see who the newcomer was, a surge of sword energy shot out from within the rift, colliding with the incoming attack!

Boom! ! !

The two bursts of sword energy collided, erupting in an explosive roar.

The woman did not continue her attack, but instead watched the spatial rift in front of Yang Haoran with vigilant eyes.

"It's good that you came over on your own. It saves me the trouble of finding you later! "

The woman spoke through gritted teeth. Although her words were domineering, it was clear from her wary gaze that she was extremely apprehensive of the newcomer.

As the woman spoke, the spatial rift vanished, and a figure appeared in front of Yang Haoran.

This person wore a rather old and tattered trench coat, with disheveled hair and a face full of stubble. He held a longsword in one hand, a wine flask in the other, and a cigarette, almost burnt to its end, dangled from his mouth.

Although he had his back to Yang Haoran, with just a single glance at the man's retreating figure, a smile bloomed on Yang Haoran's face.

"Heh heh, you've certainly arrived just in time. If you had been a moment later, you'd only be here to collect my remains. Of course, they'd still be warm. "

Yang Haoran chuckled, his words laced with teasing.

The man took a final drag from his cigarette, then nonchalantly spat out the butt. Though he didn't turn around, he responded to Yang Haoran.

"Haven't seen you in a while. I never thought you'd fallen so low. "

The man's voice was calm; it didn't sound like he was deliberately mocking Yang Haoran, but rather stating a fact.

Yang Haoran gave an awkward laugh. He didn't explain, nor did he argue with the other party, but he was quite surprised by the man's sudden appearance.

Whether it was this figure's back, his voice, or the longsword and wine flask in his hand, Yang Haoran was intimately familiar with them all. For this person was none other than Ye Zhiqiu, who had gone out alone to seek fortuitous opportunities to improve his strength.

On his way here, he hadn't used the Death God Pendant to confirm Ye Zhiqiu's location, so he had no idea where Ye Zhiqiu was currently situated.

Yet, at this very moment, Ye Zhiqiu had unexpectedly appeared here, and even blocked a fatal blow for him at a critical juncture. This was something he had not anticipated at all.

"This woman can temporarily be left to me, but I can't guarantee I can kill her. My strength is inferior to hers, and my Demon Weapon is also not as good as hers. "

Ye Zhiqiu spoke, then took a gulp of wine, put away his flask, and with a light flick of his longsword, several invisible sword energies directly severed the vines binding Yang Haoran.

"Ye Zhiqiu, as a member of our Demon Hunter Association, you're betraying your own kind! Do you have a death wish? Also, where is my son? Is his disappearance related to you! "

The woman questioned furiously. Her answer was a strike of Ye Zhiqiu's sword energy!
