Chapter 833: No One Can Save You

The Soul Guide Bell increased in size, and the patterns at the base of its body became increasingly distinct. The blood-red hands etched onto the bell's surface appeared even more lifelike, as if they could extend from the bell at any moment, making it feel even more terrifying.

Old Master Wu gazed at the large black bell before him, then stretched out his right hand and flicked it lightly against the bell's body. A surge of Spirit Power struck the bell.

The bell chimed. Its sound seemed no different from an ordinary bell at first, but upon closer listening, one would find subtle distinctions. This particular chime seemed capable of shaking one's spiritual consciousness, drawing their mind to follow its reverberations.

At this moment, Wu Senior and Wu Junior felt exactly this. The instant the bell chimed, they felt their spiritual consciousness suddenly become uncontrollable, involuntarily wanting to follow the sound.

Compared to the two brothers, the Spirit Master and his Guardian Spirit reacted entirely differently. The moment the bell chimed, both master and servant trembled simultaneously. The Guardian Spirit's eyes clouded with confusion, as if it had been hit by an Immobilization Talisman. Its Spirit Body stood motionless, even abandoning its resistance against the attacks reflected by the Nether Ice Mirror.

The Spirit Master, who was seated cross-legged on the ground, was already still, but upon hearing the chime of the Soul Guide Bell, his body subtly quivered.

Boom! ! !

The attacks reflected by the Nether Ice Mirror hadn't been fully blocked. Without the Guardian Spirit's full resistance, the rocks, trees, and weeds, imbued with power, directly pierced and scattered the Guardian Spirit's Spirit Body. A portion of these attacks even struck the Spirit Master below.

Loud crashes echoed continuously as dust and smoke billowed. The Guardian Spirit's scattered Spirit Body reformed. After its Spirit Body re-coalesced, its gaze fell not on the Spirit Master, but on Old Master Wu's Soul Armament, the Soul Guide Bell. Its blood-red eyes were filled with utter horror.

The moment the Soul Guide Bell's chime suddenly rang out, its spiritual consciousness instantly collapsed. It even forgot who it was entirely. What was even more terrifying was that it felt its Spirit Body being summoned by the Soul Guide Bell, and it had not the slightest resistance to this summons, instinctively wanting to depart along with the bell's sound.

If the subsequent attacks hadn't scattered its Spirit Body, allowing it to regain its clarity, it wouldn't dare to imagine the consequences.

With its Spirit Body scattered, it naturally suffered a degree of damage. Even after reforming its Spirit Body, this damage remained, and its power was consequently weakened.

After a moment of shock, it suddenly recalled something far more important: its Spirit Master owner.

It abruptly looked downwards, but the billowing dust and smoke obscured its vision. It channeled its internal power, stirring up a Yin wind that dispersed the pervasive dust and smoke, revealing the scene on the ground below.

The ground below was a scene of utter devastation, littered with withered branches and fallen leaves. Tree trunks of varying lengths lay either deeply embedded horizontally in the soil or vertically thrust into the ground. Rocks of all sizes had pounded the earth into a pockmarked ruin, and the Spirit Master was situated within this wasteland.

At this moment, the Spirit Master's body was still covered in the black lines of poisoning. Though their color had faded slightly compared to before, they remained clearly visible. From this, it appeared that the potent poison within him had been brought under some control, but had not been entirely expelled from his body.

As for his physical body, it was now riddled with wounds, and slightly darkened blood continuously seeped from them. His aura weakened, he appeared utterly disheveled.

When the Soul Guide Bell chimed, the Spirit Master, in the midst of expelling the poison, was also affected. However, his power was far superior to that of his Guardian Spirit, and his reaction speed was incomparable. He only dazed for an instant before reacting, realizing the danger. His first action was to channel the Communication Power within him to protect his body.

The hastily deployed defense didn't allow him to completely block this wave of attacks, but it saved his life. Had his reaction not been swift enough, or had the Soul Guide Bell's chime affected him even more profoundly, he would not merely be in a pitiful state; he would undoubtedly be a corpse by now.

This initial test of the Soul Armament, the Soul Guide Bell, yielded quite satisfactory results. Although it didn't slay the target with a single strike, the Spirit Master was already an arrow at the end of its flight, posing little threat to Old Master Wu at this point.

As for the Spirit Master's Guardian Spirit, after its Spirit Body was scattered once, its power was nowhere near its former level. Once the lingering Spirit Master was dealt with, capturing the Guardian Spirit would be as easy as pie.

Old Master Wu was quite pleased with the abilities of his Soul Armament. However, it did consume a significant amount of Spirit Power; even a casual strike depleted a considerable portion of the Spirit Power within him.

He hadn't dared to use his full power in the previous strike, as it was his first time wielding it and he wasn't yet confident. But for the next attack, he planned to increase his offensive might, eliminating both master and servant in one fell swoop, and then proceed to assist Yang Haoran.

Previously, he hadn't dared to assist Yang Haoran because he hadn't opened his Heaven Soul, and his power was extremely limited. Any so-called assistance would have merely been a hindrance to Yang Haoran.

But now, having opened his Heaven Soul and acquired his own Soul Armament, his power was incomparably greater than before. Going to assist Yang Haoran now would certainly prove useful.

Old Master Wu wasted no words with the two. Once he clearly perceived the Spirit Master's current weakened state, he prepared to activate the Soul Guide Bell once more, intending to kill the Spirit Master first.

Just as he was about to make his move, the barrier covering the area suddenly dissipated on its own!

This sight brought a look of surprise and delight to Wu Junior's face, and he couldn't help but feel the relief of having narrowly escaped death.

However, the reactions of Wu Senior and Old Master Wu, the father and son, were precisely the opposite of Wu Junior's. Both simultaneously furrowed their brows, their expressions turning grim.

The restrictive barrier here had been set up by the Spirit Master. For it to suddenly dissipate on its own without being attacked strongly suggested that the Spirit Master had done it intentionally.

Why would the Spirit Master do this? The reason was simple: he realized his current situation was perilous. By dispersing the restrictive barrier, he allowed the power fluctuations from this area to spread outwards, which the Female Hunter, who was also searching for Old Master Wu and the two others, would undoubtedly sense.

As soon as the Female Hunter sensed the power fluctuations from this location, she would certainly rush here immediately, and then he would be saved. After all, he had a cooperative relationship with the two Demon Hunters, and moreover, the couple still needed him to take the blame. There was no way they would stand by and watch him die.

Even if, for argument's sake, the Female Hunter truly decided not to save him, as long as she eliminated Old Master Wu and the two others for him, his threat would naturally vanish, and he would have ample time to save himself.

Although Old Master Wu didn't know that the Female Hunter had also pursued them beyond the barrier, he understood that the Spirit Master's current actions were definitely aimed at attracting the attention of others, so he could find an opportunity to survive.

“I told you, if you're meant to die today, then no one can save you! ”

Old Master Wu declared in a deep voice, then waved his hand, reimposing a restrictive barrier over the area. While this corrective measure might not necessarily be effective, as the power fluctuations emanating from them might already have been sensed by those paying attention, it was a logical step to take. What if no one had sensed the power fluctuations they emitted?

The instant the barrier reformed, the Spirit Master let out an enraged roar. In his current predicament, how could he possibly concern himself with the potent poison within his body? He could only mobilize a vast amount of Communication Power to temporarily suppress the venom. What he needed to do now was find a way to survive, to stall for as much time as possible until the Female Hunter arrived.

He believed that the Female Hunter must have sensed it the moment the barrier vanished. As long as he could hold out until she arrived, his life would be saved!

“Hold him for me! ”

The Spirit Master commanded his Guardian Spirit. Even as he spoke, his hands were already forming seals.

Upon receiving the order, the Guardian Spirit immediately prepared to unleash its full power, directing all its illusion and object-controlling abilities towards Old Master Wu. Although this approach would drain it significantly and might not even have much effect, it had to be done to survive.

However, Old Master Wu's striking speed was faster than that of the master and servant. Just as the Spirit Master gave his command and the Guardian Spirit prepared to employ every means to delay him, Old Master Wu activated the Soul Guide Bell once more. A chime even louder than before resonated within the restrictive barrier!
