Chapter 823: Seizure

Five Soul Pills were no small sum, and Yang Haoran naturally wouldn’t hand them over so easily.

To be precise, he had never intended to give the five Soul Pills to them from the very beginning. Even before arriving, he had judged that their request for Soul Pills was nothing more than a pretense; their true objective surely wasn't the Soul Pills themselves.

He had only just taken out the Soul Pills to test them, but he hadn't expected them to immediately send Wu Senior and Wu Junior over.

If the opponent had directly attacked Wu Senior and Wu Junior, he wouldn't have been surprised in the slightest, as it was entirely within his expectations, and he had made preparations for it. If they had suddenly moved, he would have intervened to stop them at once.

However, the other party hadn't played by the usual rules, leaving him momentarily unsure what trick they were trying to pull.

"Emissary Yang, the people have been handed over to you. What, are you not going to give me the Soul Pills?"

The man spoke to Yang Haoran with a smile, showing no anger or even a hint of surprise on his face, as if he had long anticipated that Yang Haoran wouldn't immediately hand over the Soul Pills.

"Heh heh, of course, I can give you the Soul Pills, but I need to first confirm if there's anything wrong with the two of them. I believe that's a reasonable request, wouldn't you agree?"

Yang Haoran replied with a smile. The man's words didn't make him hand over the Soul Pills.

What he called "reasonable" was merely Yang Haoran's unilateral opinion. To some extent, his actions clearly carried a hint of playing dirty. Logically, in such a situation, the other party should have shown anger, but this man did not.

"By all means."

The man spoke with a calm smile, his composure rather unexpected. Although Yang Haoran showed nothing on his face, his vigilance subtly sharpened.

"Dad! Dad! Quickly, save me!"

Wu Junior struggled on the ground, calling out anxiously to Old Master Wu. Although the man had removed the seals on him and Wu Senior, allowing the brothers to wake from their stupor, there still seemed to be seals within their bodies, preventing any power fluctuations from emanating from them.

In other words, the power within their bodies was still sealed at this moment, rendering them unable to even break free from the ropes binding them.

The ropes binding the two of them showed no unusual power fluctuations. Whether observed with the naked eye or sensed through perception, they were indistinguishable from ordinary ropes — as common as could be. Such ropes might suffice to restrain ordinary people, but clearly not those who were extraordinary.

Although Wu Senior and Wu Junior's strength was quite ordinary, breaking free from common ropes should have posed no problem at all. Since they couldn't break free, it indicated that the power within their bodies was indeed sealed. Otherwise, how could the two brothers continue to lie on the ground in such a situation? And how could Wu Junior be calling for help from Old Master Wu?

With his two sons so close, Old Master Wu, though anxious, didn't immediately rush to rescue the brothers on the ground. Instead, he looked towards Yang Haoran, seeking his opinion.

Yang Haoran gave Old Master Wu a meaningful glance. The latter understood Yang Haoran's intent and quickly knelt down, first shattering the ropes on both men with his Spirit Power, then proceeding to examine their bodies.

With just a brief examination, Old Master Wu's brow furrowed. He discovered that seals indeed existed within the brothers' bodies. He mobilized his power, attempting to break them, but these seals were far stronger than he had imagined. Even with his full strength unleashed, he couldn't breach the seals within the brothers.

Yang Haoran watched Old Master Wu, whose entire body was wreathed in rising Yin Qi, his expression serious. He could tell that Old Master Wu had already used his full strength. So, with a gentle wave of his hand, two currents of Yin Qi whistled forth, directly striking the Wu brothers and burrowing into their bodies.

The seals that Old Master Wu couldn't break immediately shattered into countless pieces under Yang Haoran's intervention, like glass struck by a heavy blow. Faint power fluctuations also began to emanate from the two brothers.

However, at the very moment Yang Haoran moved to unlock the seals within the brothers, a force suddenly enveloped the five Soul Pills hovering before him, forcibly pulling them towards a certain direction.

Yang Haoran's brows twitched. He wanted to intervene and stop it, but the man leaning against the large tree erupted with a powerful surge of energy at that very moment. Communication Power whistled forth, blasting towards his position with lethal intent.

Faced with this situation, Yang Haoran had no choice but to abandon reclaiming the Soul Pills and instead focus on parrying the man's sudden attack.

He could have dodged, and he was confident he could evade the man's strike. However, his ability to dodge didn't mean Old Master Wu and the other two could do the same. This was especially true for Wu Senior and Wu Junior, whose strength was the weakest and who would be utterly incapable of escaping this sudden blow.

If he were to dodge, Old Master Wu would at least be severely injured, even if he didn't die. As for Wu Senior and Wu Junior, their lives would certainly be forfeit, because the power of the man's sudden burst of attack was indeed not to be underestimated.

He chose not to clash head-on with the opponent, as doing so would definitely affect Old Master Wu and the other two. To prevent them from being caught in the crossfire, his chosen method of defense was to deploy a protective barrier.

A protective barrier formed from Spirit Power instantly materialized, enveloping all four individuals, including Yang Haoran. The moment the barrier took shape, the Communication Power struck it.

Boom! ! !

The Communication Power crashed against the barrier, unleashing a thunderous roar. As the Communication Power exploded, the Spirit Power barrier cracked with a series of sharp 'kaka' sounds. Violent energy spread outwards, causing the ground to tremble slightly and the surrounding weeds and vegetation to suffer devastating damage.

Two forces, both black but entirely distinct in nature, intermingled. Then, the barrier completely shattered, and Yang Haoran waved his hand, dispelling the turbulent energy before him.

Such a sudden turn of events turned Wu Junior's face ashen with fright. Even though Yang Haoran's protection had kept him unharmed, his body still couldn't help but tremble.

While Wu Senior was also startled by the sudden attack, it was merely a startle; no fear appeared on his face, nor did he shake uncontrollably.

"Useless fellow, aren't you a man!"

Old Master Wu's face was cold as he let out a low roar at Wu Junior. Wu Junior's reaction left him both disappointed and furious. If it weren't for the fact that now wasn't the time for bickering, he truly wanted to slap his good-for-nothing son across the face.

Only after Old Master Wu's reprimand did Wu Junior snap back to reality. Although he tried his best to control his emotions and prevent his inner fear from showing, the effect was not obvious; his legs still couldn't help but tremble slightly.

At this moment, Yang Haoran had no mind to care about Wu Junior, nor would he waste time on him. He didn't even spare Wu Junior a glance, his gaze falling directly upon the man opposite him.

Compared to before, the power fluctuations emanating from the man's body were significantly stronger. Judging by these fluctuations, the man was in the Spirit Master realm; within that realm, he wasn't the strongest, but certainly not the weakest either.

However, Yang Haoran couldn't be certain if the strength the man was currently displaying was his absolute peak. If this was indeed the man's full power, then he was nothing more than an ant in Yang Haoran's eyes.

Don't let the fact that the man just shattered his conjured barrier fool you; that doesn't necessarily mean the man is his match. One must remember that Yang Haoran hadn't even opened his Heaven Soul yet. Once he did, his strength would surge dramatically, and the true gap between him and the man would become apparent.

Yet, at present, Yang Haoran wasn't concerned with the man, because the man's strength was negligible in his eyes. What truly worried him was the individual hidden in the shadows.

Yang Haoran's gaze lingered on the man for only a fleeting moment before shifting away, falling upon the figures standing beside him.

Standing beside the man were two other individuals. Yang Haoran looked at them, and his expression instantly turned grim.

The two people standing beside the man were none other than those two three-star Demon Hunters!
