Chapter 771: Who to Ask for Help?

Xu Meijing's face bloomed with surprise because she was absolutely certain that a faint flicker of life still lingered within Yang Haoran.

Immediately, however, that surprise vanished, replaced by a surge of anxiety. The reason was simple: Yang Haoran's vital signs were excruciatingly faint, like a candle flame flickering in the wind, threatening to extinguish at any moment. And she was utterly helpless to do anything about it. How could she possibly remain happy? Hence, the surprise on her face was instantly overtaken by urgency.

Xu Meijing originally possessed some healing elixirs. Yang Haoran had personally delivered all these healing elixirs to her back then. However, she had used some of them over time, and her battle today with the Grand Spirit Master had forced her to consume the last remaining medicine liquid. There were no healing medicines left whatsoever in her personal storage space.

If she had any, she would undoubtedly have fed them to Yang Haoran without the slightest hesitation.

But she had none. Thus, her only option was to immediately take Yang Haoran away and seek other methods to save him.

If they acted swiftly enough, perhaps there was still time!

Upon stepping into the spatial rift, Xu Meijing found herself troubled when it came to deciding on a destination.

Given the current circumstances, Yang Haoran absolutely needed immediate emergency treatment; any delay would make everything too late.

But where should she take Yang Haoran for help?

To a hospital?

This thought had barely surfaced in Xu Meijing's mind before she immediately dismissed it.

In these chaotic times, hospitals were far from what they once were. Medicines and equipment were scarce, and the wards were constantly overflowing with injured patients. Taking Yang Haoran, who possessed only a faint flicker of life, to a hospital would be no different from sending him to a crematorium.

Moreover, Yang Haoran's injuries were so severe that no ordinary doctor could treat them. A more polite doctor would simply declare their helplessness, while a more direct one would advise her to prepare for his funeral.

Having ruled out ordinary hospitals, Xu Meijing then considered the Spirit Police's exclusive hospital. Its medical techniques were incomparable to those of regular hospitals, and its patients were far from ordinary people, meaning the doctors there were highly experienced in such matters.

Therefore, taking Yang Haoran to the Spirit Police's exclusive hospital might offer him a chance at recovery.

Although Xu Meijing's relationship with the Ancheng Spirit Police was merely cordial, she was, after all, the Emissary of Death for the Ancheng Underworld Division, its top official. They would, to some extent, have to show her respect.

Furthermore, with the world in such turmoil, the Spirit Police were eager to avoid offending any faction and were intent on building alliances wherever possible, hoping for assistance at critical moments. Thus, they had even less reason to refuse her request.

If she arrived with Yang Haoran, the chances of them refusing were slim. Should they truly refuse, she would not hesitate to resort to forceful measures. As long as she could save Yang Haoran, she wouldn't care about the repercussions.

Yet, could the Spirit Police truly save Yang Haoran in his current state?

She felt deeply uncertain about this, daring not to confirm.

If the Spirit Police lacked the ability to save Yang Haoran, sending him there might only delay the optimal treatment window, turning a potentially salvageable Yang Haoran into one beyond saving.

At this moment, Xu Meijing was torn. On one hand, she felt that with the Spirit Police's medical expertise, they might indeed be able to rescue the critically ill Yang Haoran.

But on the other hand, she was filled with trepidation, fearing that the Spirit Police lacked such capability, and would ultimately only delay Yang Haoran, costing him his life.

Her conflicted thoughts made it impossible for her to make a decision immediately. It was then that she considered that if she could find a Pharmacist to help, and if they were willing, Yang Haoran's chances of survival would be significantly higher—at least far greater than if he received treatment from the Spirit Police.

After all, from her understanding, the Ancheng Spirit Police's exclusive hospital did not possess the magical and powerful existence of a Pharmacist, and their medical techniques certainly couldn't compare to a Pharmacist's methods.

However, Pharmacists were far too rare in this world. Under the current circumstances, where could she find one on such short notice?

Even in normal times, finding a Pharmacist was incredibly difficult. Without any leads, a blind search would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack; even spending several years might not yield a single Pharmacist.

At this moment, Yang Haoran's life hung by a thread, and what he lacked most was time. By the time a Pharmacist was found and emergency treatment could begin, his body would surely have already decomposed into bones.

While a Pharmacist would be ideal, finding one on the fly to save Yang Haoran was simply unrealistic.

Xu Meijing understood this perfectly, so she could only abandon the idea.

But then she froze, because a crucial piece of information suddenly flashed in her mind!

Back when Yang Haoran had specifically sent her medicine liquid and dānyào, she had been both deeply moved and astonished. She knew at a glance that all those liquids and pills were the work of a Pharmacist.

This was because she had detected a special fluctuation emanating from them, a type of energy not present in ordinary medicines. Only medicine liquids prepared and dānyào refined by a Pharmacist would emit such a unique power fluctuation.

Medicines created by a Pharmacist were incredibly precious. Without special channels, it was difficult to acquire the desired remedies, even with items of equivalent value.

And Yang Haoran, at that time, hadn't brought her a vast quantity, but the amount was certainly not small either. After all, such precious items didn't grow on trees; even a few drops of medicine liquid would have been significant to her.

Yang Haoran had brought her more than just a few drops of medicine liquid; he had brought a small bottle.

In addition to the small bottle of medicine liquid, there were several dānyào. Both types of medicine were highly effective and were specifically for healing. This had greatly surprised her at the time, and the source of her astonishment was how Yang Haoran had managed to acquire so many of these medicines!

Carrying her surprise, she had immediately asked Yang Haoran about the source of these medicines.

Yang Haoran had told her that he had invited a friend to be a guest at his home, and this friend happened to be a Pharmacist. So, he had troubled them to refine some dānyào and prepare some medicine liquid for him.

After hearing Yang Haoran's explanation, she was both envious and speechless, even teasing him about how effective his "insincere smile" was, capable of even "tricking" such a rare friend into his grasp. Yang Haoran had simply chuckled then, offering no defense, nor arguing with her.

Afterward, she had never brought up the matter again. After all, her opportunities to meet Yang Haoran were infrequent, and she certainly wouldn't inquire about a Pharmacist every time they met. Gradually, she had put the matter out of her mind.

Just now, her heart had been filled with anxiety, her mind solely focused on how to save Yang Haoran, which was why she hadn't considered this point. It was only when the rare group of Pharmacists came to her mind that she suddenly remembered!

She didn't know who the Pharmacist friend Yang Haoran had mentioned was, nor had she ever met them.

However, just because she hadn't met or known them, didn't mean that the people living in Yang Haoran's villa hadn't either.

She clearly remembered that Yang Haoran's villa in Lecheng not only housed ghosts but also demons. Perhaps they knew that Pharmacist and even their residence!

With this thought, she immediately made up her mind: first, she would take Yang Haoran back to Lecheng and see if she could find the Pharmacist through the other residents of the villa. If she could, that would be ideal. If not, she would immediately take Yang Haoran back to Ancheng and seek help from the Ancheng Spirit Police to save him!

With a decision finally made, she knew exactly where to emerge from the spatial rift. With her current strength, a single spatial transfer was enough to reach her destination.

In just a short while, Xu Meijing tore open a spatial rift, then rushed out of it, cradling Yang Haoran in her arms.

She had now returned Yang Haoran to Lecheng, directly materializing within the courtyard of Yang Haoran's villa.

Yang Haoran's two villas in Lecheng were constantly protected by the Mountain River Grand Array. However, the restrictive barrier released by the Mountain River Grand Array was, in Xu Meijing's current eyes, nothing more than a facade, completely incapable of preventing her from tearing through space and appearing within its confines!
