Chapter 755: The Rage of Being Played

The Nether Ice Mirror shattered, forming a powerful storm of energy. Two forces, both black but of different natures, intertwined and rapidly spread outwards.

Yang Haoran spurted a mouthful of fresh blood, his body flung backward to crash against a vine-covered rock wall. The powerful impact embedded him deep within the hard stone, his entire form becoming fixed within the rock face.

Excruciating pain shot through his entire body; he felt as though all his bones were about to shatter. The taste of rust filled his mouth and nostrils. Before he could even react, another mouthful of fresh blood spurted from his lips.

The wild power not only sent him flying but also shredded more than half of the energy generated by the numerous talismans. The Guardian Spirit sustained some damage from the onslaught of talismans, but this minor injury didn't significantly affect her combat effectiveness. Rather, it was the chaotic force created by the explosion that dispersed the Yin Qi forming her Spirit Body, causing her more substantial harm.

Of course, this was only relative; compared to Yang Haoran, the damage she suffered was practically negligible.

The Guardian Spirit paid no mind to the lingering power of the talismans, as these residual forces could hardly harm her anymore. Once the Yin Qi forming her Spirit Body coalesced anew, she didn't hesitate for an instant, surging directly towards the sealed cave entrance beneath Yang Haoran's body.

To act, one must see the performance through to the end, lest others discover a flaw. Yang Haoran understood this principle deeply. So, seeing the Guardian Spirit rush towards the cave entrance beneath his body, he immediately suppressed the intense pain wracking his frame, forcibly pulled his hands from the rock crevices, and with the utmost speed, deployed a barrier of Spirit Power in front of the cave. Then, with hands forming seals, he attempted to cast another Ghost Art.

Just then, however, a cold snort reached his ears. A massive black hand suddenly appeared, gripping his neck, violently tearing him from the stone wall, and then brutally flinging him far away!

This suddenly appearing hand was, of course, conjured by the Great Spirit Caller. Seeing Yang Haoran still attempting to block him with his life, he immediately intervened, tossing Yang Haoran far away.

This way, Yang Haoran would be unable to stop his Guardian Spirit from entering the cave, and he could thoroughly torment Yang Haoran, this Underworld Official of the Underworld Office, until he tired of the sport.

The instant Yang Haoran was flung away by the black hand, the Guardian Spirit instantly shattered the hastily deployed shield Yang Haoran had erected. Immediately after, she burst through the seal at the cave entrance and surged into the interior of the cave.

Seeing his Guardian Spirit successfully enter the cave's interior, a faint smile involuntarily appeared on the Great Spirit Caller's face.

Up to this point, Xu Meijing had not appeared, which meant she hadn't successfully opened her Earth Soul. If that were the case, she wouldn't have another opportunity to open her Earth Soul, for he trusted the strength of his Guardian Spirit. With his Guardian Spirit present, Xu Meijing wouldn't be given a chance.

As long as Xu Meijing couldn't open her Earth Soul, he felt not a shred of pressure facing Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing, these two Underworld Officials. Even if he only used a fraction of his strength, it would be enough to utterly brutalize them both.

Just as the Great Spirit Caller was secretly basking in a slight sense of triumph, he saw the Guardian Spirit, who had just surged into the cave, suddenly rush back out and rapidly head towards his location.

This sight caused the cold smile on his face to stiffen slightly, and a puzzled expression appeared in his eyes.

In just a fleeting moment, the Guardian Spirit stopped before him. Before he could even open his mouth to ask for an explanation, the Guardian Spirit spoke first.

“Master, the cave is empty. ”

Although the Guardian Spirit offered no further explanation, the meaning of her words was abundantly clear.

The Great Spirit Caller was momentarily stunned. Then, comprehension dawning upon him, his face instantly became exceedingly grim, and invisible flames of fury seemed to erupt from his eyes.

He knew. He had been played. Played by an ant!

He spun around sharply, his gaze snapping towards Yang Haoran's location. As his eyes fell upon Yang Haoran, he saw the latter rapidly forming hand seals!

After Yang Haoran was violently flung away by the massive black hand, he snapped several large trees before finally crashing to the ground, his body carving a deep gully.

Having stabilized himself, Yang Haoran disregarded the searing pain coursing through his body and immediately retrieved a Soul Pill from his independent space, swallowing it.

The Soul Pill he had taken earlier had already been mostly absorbed. To ensure his Spirit Power recovery rate kept pace with his consumption, he decided to swallow another Soul Pill.

This way, he wouldn't face Spirit Power depletion.

His physical injuries had significantly recovered after he previously consumed the Pharmacist's Medicine, but now, his recently healed body was once again severely wounded.

For safety's sake, after taking a Soul Pill, he consumed another drop of Pharmacist's Medicine.

Having done all this, he just happened to notice the Guardian Spirit bursting out of the cave.

He knew the Guardian Spirit certainly hadn't found anything inside the cave, because there was nothing there. Therefore, the Guardian Spirit would surely report her findings to her master.

Thus, even if the Great Spirit Caller were a fool, he would know he had been played. At that point, the Great Spirit Caller would likely no longer have any desire to toy with him; his mind, dominated by rage, would surely resort to directly dealing a killing blow!

His primary objective wasn't to slay the Great Spirit Caller, as it was utterly impossible for him to kill a Great Spirit Caller with his current strength. His aim was to buy time, to prolong the engagement as much as possible before losing his life.

Thus, he certainly wasn't foolish enough to confront the Great Spirit Caller head-on. He intended to lure the Great Spirit Caller away by fleeing.

Yang Haoran was perfectly aware of where Xu Meijing had likely been taken by the Ground-Escaping Talisman. All he had to do was lead the Great Spirit Caller in the opposite direction.

He didn't choose to escape immediately. Before fleeing, he planned to add another ladle of oil to the Great Spirit Caller's inner rage, fully enraging him and causing him to lose all reason.

Once a person is consumed by fury, their primary urge is to find a target for their anger and completely vent their inner wrath. In this process, they easily overlook minor details.

This was precisely the outcome Yang Haoran desired.

Therefore, instead of immediately choosing to flee, he rapidly formed hand seals with his fingers, performing the motions at a speed even faster than usual.

By the time the Great Spirit Caller, burning with inner rage, sharply turned to look at him, Yang Haoran had already completed his hand seals.

“Ghost Art! Ghost Fiend Soul Chain! ! ! ”

Several Ghost Fiend Soul Chains burst from the earth, like malevolent spirits long imprisoned beneath the ground finally regaining their freedom. They unleashed a flurry of excited, ghostly cackles as they launched an attack on the Great Spirit Caller and his Guardian Spirit.

Meanwhile, Yang Haoran, at that very moment, took off like a wisp of smoke, fleeing into the distance. He pushed his speed to the absolute limit, vanishing into the jungle in the blink of an eye.

The Great Spirit Caller's face darkened. He extended his hand through the air towards the incoming Ghost Fiend Soul Chains, then clenched it abruptly!

A giant black palm materialized, seizing all the Ghost Fiend Soul Chains. Though the Soul Chains were not small in size, they still appeared significantly smaller before this colossal hand.

The Ghost Fiend Soul Chains were gripped by the massive hand like several cigarettes held by an adult. With a powerful squeeze, the violently struggling Ghost Fiend Soul Chains were crushed into dust, transforming into wisps of Yin Qi that dispersed into nothingness.

“I’m going to slaughter this Underworld Office dog right now! Whoever dares to stop me, I’ll kill them! ”

The Great Spirit Caller roared, then, enveloped in a thick shroud of Yin Qi, he chased after the direction Yang Haoran had just fled. His speed was several times faster than Yang Haoran's, like a streak of black lightning, vanishing in an instant!

The Guardian Spirit had originally intended to stop the Great Spirit Caller and urge him to calm down. However, upon hearing the Great Spirit Caller's furious roar, she abandoned the idea, immediately retracting the words on the tip of her tongue.

As the Great Spirit Caller's Guardian Spirit, she knew her master's temperament deeply. If she were to try and stop the Great Spirit Caller at this moment, no matter how sound or justified her reasons, she wouldn't receive praise. Instead, she would only make the Great Spirit Caller even more furious, and he might even vent all his inner rage upon her.

Thus, she did not speak to stop him. Instead, she followed the Great Spirit Caller, pursuing him in the direction Yang Haoran had vanished.
