Chapter 738: The Sudden Appearance of a Blood-Clad Spirit

A formation suddenly appeared directly above Yang Haoran's head, causing his expression to change.

He didn't even have time to react effectively to the current situation before the formation began to operate on its own, a furious power rapidly coalescing within it.

He knew that this formation was about to release holy light again, and this time, the targets would undoubtedly be him and the three individuals he intended to take away.

At such close range, it would be extremely difficult for him to dodge effectively, especially since he was carrying three "burdens" on his shoulders, making a successful evasion even more challenging.

There were only two ways to escape this predicament: one was to directly destroy the formation. If he did so, the holy light would not descend, and even if the formation could re-coalesce after being destroyed, it would require a certain amount of time. He could then use this time to approach the barrier, tear a hole in it, and send the three away.

The other method was to escape the area covered by the formation as quickly as possible, and to do so before the holy light descended. That way, even if the holy light did fall, it wouldn't harm the four of them.

At that point, it would certainly be too late for Zhang Changchun to reposition the formation. At their current speed, by the time Zhang Changchun could move the formation again, Yang Haoran would have already brought the three individuals close to the barrier.

Both methods were viable, but Yang Haoran found himself unable to implement either at that moment.

It wasn't that he lacked the ability to forcibly break through this formation, nor was it that he couldn't escape its strike range before the holy light descended. If he unleashed his full power without holding anything back, he might not be 100% guaranteed to succeed, but it certainly wouldn't be a major issue.

However, if he did that, he would expose his true strength, and then taking the three individuals away would be meaningless. He might as well just unleash his power to the extreme and show off in front of them right now.

Yet, Yang Haoran's decision to take the three away was not solely to avoid exposing his strength in front of them; there was another crucial reason. If he and Xu Meijing went all out, this place would undoubtedly turn into a chaotic battlefield. While the three might indeed witness a grand spectacle by staying, this spectacle would demand their very lives, and they would almost certainly perish here.

They could potentially die at the hands of Zhang Changchun and his father, or at the hands of another spirit, or even be caught in the aftershocks of the fierce battle.

It was for these two reasons that Yang Haoran risked his life, determined to send the three away from this place first.

If it were merely a matter of worrying about his strength being exposed, he could simply erase a portion of their memories afterward, thus keeping his secret safe.

Of course, that was only if victory belonged to him and Xu Meijing.

In that instant, Yang Haoran's mind raced, frantically searching for countermeasures. He didn't halt his rapid flight. As he drew closer to the formation above, and as the power erupting from it grew increasingly violent, a surge of anxiety swelled within him.

At this moment, he even felt an impulse to unleash his full power directly, ramming into the formation above and smashing the bothersome thing to smithereens!

Below, Xu Meijing was struggling against the two holy lights. Although she successfully blocked them, her injuries worsened somewhat as a result.

Watching the problem Yang Haoran faced above, her eyes blazed with a cold light. At this moment, she no longer bothered with reservations, wanting to unleash her power completely and slice through the formation above Yang Haoran with a single strike!

Just then, with a thunderous roar, the restrictive barrier released by the grand formation violently trembled, then shattered with a crash!

The moment the barrier fragmented, the formation above Yang Haoran also vanished. The holy light that was about to coalesce naturally disappeared along with the formation.

This sudden turn of events not only startled Yang Haoran but also caused Zhang Changchun's expression to drastically change.

However, Yang Haoran had no time to ponder what had happened. He carried Ma Yuanjin and the other two straight through the vanished formation, then abruptly exerted force with both hands, directly throwing the three out!

"Quickly, get out of here!"

Yang Haoran stabilized himself in the air, watching as the three shot away like cannonballs, and shouted a reminder.

Zhang Changchun's expression was incredibly grim. He hastily urged the array disk in his hand, intending to stop the three from leaving. Under his urging, the forcibly breached barrier re-coalesced, once again enveloping the entire mountain.

However, he was still half a beat too slow. By the time the restrictive barrier reformed, Ma Yuanjin and the other two had already been thrown out by Yang Haoran. The restrictive barrier not only failed to restrain them, but actually became their protection, because anyone inside the barrier would first have to break through it to attack the three.

This sight infuriated Zhang Changchun, causing him to tremble. His father had just specifically instructed him that, apart from Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing, these two Underworld agents, not a single living person was to be left behind, and even their souls must be eliminated.

But now, he hadn't even managed to make Ma Yuanjin and the other two undergo Soul Transformation, let alone kill them, and they had escaped this place. Having handled things to this extent, he truly didn't know how to explain it to his father.

Though he was already quite old, in front of his father, he was still just a child. When a child made a mistake, his father wouldn't go so far as to kill him, but punishment was definitely unavoidable, as he knew his father's temperament—his father wasn't the gentle type of man.

At this moment, he felt both anger and fear. He couldn't eliminate the fear in his heart right now, but he could vent his anger. And the targets for his fury were, naturally, Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing.

Blinded by rage, he didn't consider one crucial question: why did the restrictive barrier suddenly shatter when it was perfectly fine?

He ignored this question. At this moment, he had only one thought: to kill Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing as quickly as possible, then leave the barrier alone to pursue Ma Yuanjin and the others.

Although he knew it was probably too late, he decided to do it anyway, because he couldn't think of a better solution for now.

However, just as he was about to vent his inner fury on Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing and proceed with his plan, a terrifying power suddenly emerged from the distance!

The sudden appearance of this terrifying power immediately extinguished the rage in Zhang Changchun's heart, replacing it with shock. His gaze involuntarily turned towards the source of the power in the distance.

And Yang Haoran, after sending Ma Yuanjin and the other two away, immediately rushed back to Xu Meijing's side. They, too, naturally sensed this suddenly erupting powerful force.

Including Zhang Changchun, all three of their gazes simultaneously shot towards the location where the power had erupted.

In the distance, the fierce battle was still ongoing, but it had previously been a struggle between Zhang Changchun's father and another spirit. Now, however, the battle of two had turned into a battlefield of three.

The newly appeared individual was also a spirit.

However, this spirit differed greatly from Zhang Changchun's father and the spirit that had escaped from under the Town Soul Tower.

Firstly, there was a difference in gender: this spirit was a woman, or to be precise, a young girl.

Of course, her retaining the appearance of a young girl didn't mean that was her true age; it merely indicated she was a girl when she died.

This was one difference, but it wasn't particularly special. There were countless male and female ghosts in this world; it wasn't as if every appearing spirit had to be male.

Beyond gender, this female ghost also had another distinction from Zhang Changchun's father and the spirit that had escaped the Town Soul Tower, and this distinction was the most crucial.

This female ghost was entirely Blood-Clad, with fresh blood constantly dripping from her blood-red garments.

These blood-red garments were not formed by the female ghost coalescing Yin Qi; rather, they were inherent. If they were merely Yin Qi-coalesced blood-red garments, their color would not be so peculiar.

Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing were absolute professionals in this regard, as they were Underworld agents. Thus, they could tell that the female ghost's blood-red garments were not formed from Yin Qi, but were innate.

Aside from her Blood-Clad attire, this female ghost's eyes and hair were all crimson, giving the impression that, except for her skin, every other part of her was blood-red. And this crimson hue constantly exuded an indescribably bizarre sensation!
