Chapter 634: Chaos Descends

Yang Haoran lay on the sofa, his face ashen, cold sweat beading on his forehead. His physical condition was extremely poor.

He was already severely wounded, and continuously implanting the Death God Seals for several people was still too much for him to bear. In his prime, implanting Death God Seals for a few individuals simultaneously would have been a trivial matter, certainly not leaving him in such a wretched state.

"Boss, are you alright?"

Old Master Wu saw that Yang Haoran's condition was clearly not right, and his expression filled with concern.

Yang Haoran waved his hand, signaling Old Master Wu not to worry, then retrieved a Soul Pill from his independent space and swallowed it.

At this moment, only Yang Haoran and Old Master Wu remained in the living room; Wu Senior and the others had already departed.

After receiving the Death God Seal, they all possessed power, no longer ordinary individuals. The Spirit Power within their bodies would accelerate the healing of their injuries, making their minor wounds insignificant. Thus, they immediately rushed back to the Wu Family Villa.

The Wu Family Villa had endured a life-and-death battle tonight. Although their own lives were saved, all the bodyguards had tragically died at the hands of the Spirit Mediums. Their immediate return was, naturally, to deal with the aftermath.

Wu Xiaoxiao had initially wanted to stay and chat with Yang Haoran, but seeing his terrible physical state, she reluctantly abandoned the idea, deciding to wait until he had recovered.

There were some things Yang Haoran found awkward to discuss in front of the Wu family. Now that they had all left, leaving only him and Old Master Wu, he felt it necessary to speak to Old Master Wu about certain matters.

"Old Wu, there are some things I'm not sure if I should say," Yang Haoran began, a faint, weak smile appearing on his face as he addressed Old Master Wu.

"Boss, you're too formal. Please, just tell me what you need," Old Master Wu quickly replied, his attitude respectful.

"You need to keep a close eye on Wu Junior. Make absolutely sure he doesn't stir up any trouble, or it'll be difficult to clean up the mess later. " Yang Haoran didn't beat around the bush any longer, getting straight to the point.

Old Master Wu showed no surprise or unexpectedness; instead, a similar look of worry appeared on his face.

"Sigh, Junior is the greatest failure of my life, but I also bear some responsibility for how he turned out. Boss, for you to even grant him the Death God Seal, I am endlessly grateful. However, please rest assured, Boss, if Junior truly abuses his newfound abilities to commit evil, I, your subordinate, will personally cripple him."

As Old Master Wu spoke, his expression was somewhat complex, but his tone was exceptionally firm. If Wu Junior truly started wreaking havoc with his power, his father would indeed likely cripple him with his own hands.

"Heh heh, it's not that serious. Just keep a close watch on him," Yang Haoran said with a faint smile.

If Wu Junior were to cause significant trouble, even crippling him at that point might not achieve much, but Yang Haoran chose not to voice such disheartening thoughts.

Yang Haoran didn't dwell on the matter. He would cross that bridge when he came to it. Compared to Wu Junior's potential issues, what concerned him most now was the Spirit Mediums.

For the remainder of their time, Yang Haoran no longer brought up Wu Junior. Instead, he discussed strategies with Old Master Wu on how to arrange and deploy their forces to more effectively counter the chaos that was highly likely to erupt in the future.

During this discussion, Night Watchers began to arrive one after another outside the villa's barrier. Under Yang Haoran's arrangement, Xiujuan was responsible for receiving them, leading all these Night Watchers into the barrier where they waited on an open plot of land within the villa grounds.

As dawn faintly broke, all the Night Watchers under Yang Haoran had gathered at the villa, and his discussions with Old Master Wu had also yielded results.

The two men exited the villa and held a meeting for the Night Watchers on the open ground. They revealed some information regarding the Spirit Mediums and, based on their agreed-upon strategy, made arrangements and deployments for the Night Watchers.

The world was on the verge of great chaos. Regarding this, some Night Watchers believed, while others did not. After all, Lecheng was currently quite peaceful; nothing extraordinary had occurred. Spirit Mediums still lived cautiously, tails tucked, just as before, not daring to show their faces. It hardly looked as though the world was about to descend into chaos.

Furthermore, did Spirit Mediums even possess the ability to plunge this world into chaos?

Regardless of their personal beliefs, none of the Night Watchers present raised any objections. Instead, they respectfully accepted their new assignments.

These Night Watchers were all managed by Old Master Wu; they were well-trained, perceptive, and disciplined, naturally not daring to question orders in such a setting.

After making arrangements and deployments for the Night Watchers, Yang Haoran instructed his subordinates to immediately carry out their assigned tasks. They left the villa, each returning to their respective posts.

No sooner had the Night Watchers departed than Yang Haoran sensed something and retrieved the Underworld Iron Tome from his independent space.

When he first became an Emissary of Death, he had received two Underworld Iron Books. One was thick, with every page meticulously detailing the laws and regulations of the Underworld Office.

The other Underworld Iron Book was very thin, containing only a single page. Despite this, it held an immense amount of information, including records of all major events within the Underworld Office.

Furthermore, this Iron Book served another purpose: it was the tool the Underworld Office used to issue commands or announce major events.

The Iron Book Yang Haoran now held was precisely this single-paged volume.

After being taken from his independent space, the Iron Book floated in the air, trembling slightly.

Such a reaction from the Iron Book indicated that the Underworld Office had issued a new command or announced a major event.

This was not the first time Yang Haoran had witnessed such a phenomenon; the Iron Book would react similarly when a new Emissary of Death was appointed.

However, this time was different. Previously, the Iron Book's trembling would subside after a short while, but now it continued to vibrate incessantly.

Yang Haoran's brows furrowed slightly. He then extended a finger and tapped the air towards the Iron Book, injecting a stream of Spirit Power into it.

As the Spirit Power merged into the Iron Book, Yin Qi rapidly converged above it, forming four large characters.

"Chaos Descends!"

Below these four large characters, rows of smaller characters formed from Yin Qi, conveying the general message that the world was about to change. Spirit Mediums were making significant moves, and Emissaries of Death in every city were instructed to strengthen their defenses and not let down their guard. Concurrently, they were to eliminate Spirit Mediums as much as possible, using the current surge in Spirit Medium activity as an opportunity to completely eradicate them from this world.

This was the first command issued by the Underworld Office. After reading it, Yang Haoran once again tapped the air towards the Iron Book. The Yin Qi characters dispersed, then reformed into a second message.

The second message was an announcement, and its contents made both Yang Haoran and Old Master Wu beside him change their expressions.

Last night, dozens of cities, large and small, across the entire New Beginning Realm had plunged into chaos. In some cities, Evil Spirits ran rampant, committing atrocities; in others, demons publicly devoured humans; and some cities even saw armed riots break out.

These cities were listed, with notes on the severity of their situations, making it clear at a glance which cities were in a more critical state.

Among the listed cities, Yunchuan City in Jingling Continent was conspicuously present, though its situation was considered mild compared to the others.

Originally, Yang Haoran had thought that only a few cities in their Jingling Continent had experienced problems last night. Now it seemed he had underestimated the situation; it wasn't just Jingling Continent that was in trouble, but the entire New Beginning Realm, and the conditions in other continents were far more severe than in theirs.

"It seems the day the world descends into great chaos will arrive even sooner than I anticipated."

Although Old Master Wu remained silent, he nodded, agreeing with Yang Haoran's assessment.

Yang Haoran tapped the Iron Book again with his finger; the characters turned into Yin Qi and dispersed, then reformed once more. Observing the information composed of these words, the expressions of both Yang Haoran and Old Master Wu changed again.

This time, neither of their faces looked good.

This was also an announcement, but its content was even more astonishing than the previous one: in just a single night, the Underworld Office had lost thirteen Emissaries of Death, and the number of Night Watchers was countless.

Losing thirteen Emissaries of Death in a single night—such a massive loss was something Yang Haoran had never witnessed since becoming a member of the Underworld Office.
