Chapter 629: First, Deliver a Warning Blow

The one speaking was none other than the Spirit Master.

Though surrounded by several fire wolves and two fire tigers, the Spirit Master remained completely unfazed. From his tone, it was clear he didn't take these talisman-formed attacks seriously in the slightest.

As his voice fell, the Spirit Master's arm flexed powerfully, yanking hard on the chain.

Under this force, Xiao Kang not only failed to forcibly pull Wu Senior and the others away, but he himself was instead yanked flying towards the Spirit Master.

"Break the chain!"

Panic seized Xiao Kang. Old Master Wu, who was exerting all his might to restrain the Evil Spirit, quickly roared at Xiao Kang.

Old Master Wu's warning was like a refreshing realization to Xiao Kang. Coming to his senses, he immediately broke the chain and then forcibly flashed his body in mid-air, barely avoiding falling into the Spirit Master's grasp.

Although he successfully escaped a calamity, Wu Senior and the others failed to escape the Spirit Master's control.

"Annoying pests!"

From within the blazing flames, the Spirit Master's voice resounded once more. As he spoke, a powerful energy wave erupted from his body, and a torrent of Communication Power enveloped his fists, smashing several fire wolves to smithereens in mere moments.

The two fire tigers were formed from Black Talismans, their power far exceeding that of Yellow Talismans. The Spirit Master naturally understood this, so he didn't expect to scatter the two tigers with just his fists in an instant.

For these two tigers, he had a better way of handling them.

"Spiritual Art! Cage!"

Four stone pillars shot up from the ground, chains rapidly coiling around them to form a cage, trapping the two fire tigers within.

Although the two fire tigers possessed considerable strength, they could not break free from the cage's restraints. This wasn't because Old Master Wu's two Black Talismans were too weak, but rather because their power simply hadn't been fully unleashed. If a proper Talisman Master were to wield these two talismans, the power unleashed by the fire tigers would have been entirely different, and the same went for the fire wolves destroyed by the Spirit Master.

As the fire tigers were trapped by the Spiritual Art, the Spirit Master's Guardian Spirit also broke free from the powerful suction emanating from the Soul-Gathering Bead. The bead, floating in mid-air, was directly blasted away, and Old Master Wu, suffering a backlash of power, once more spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, his face instantly turning ashen white like paper.

He had poured out everything he had, hoping to buy Xiao Kang a little time, but ultimately, he failed. The vast disparity in strength meant he was utterly incapable of securing any time for Xiao Kang, and his final gambit had been effortlessly shattered by his opponent.

Old Master Wu's heart turned to ashes; he knew that this time, he would likely not escape this calamity.

"Old Wu, if you have any more tricks up your sleeve, by all means, use them. If not, I'll send them on their way first, right before your eyes. Witnessing their horrific deaths, I'm sure your expression will be truly spectacular."

The Spirit Master sneered, then turned his gaze towards Wu Senior and the others, slowly raising his right hand.

Compared to his previous shouts and cries, Wu Junior was now too terrified to utter a single word. He trembled all over, his lips quivered, and he looked utterly dispirited.

Old Master Wu watched the Communication Power gather above the Spirit Master's palm, his heart burning with anxiety. These relatives of his were merely ordinary people; if they took a hit from the Spirit Master, let alone their physical bodies, whether their souls could even be preserved was an unknown.

Xiao Kang witnessed this scene. With a roar from his lips, he unleashed the two Black Talismans Old Master Wu had given him, aiming them at the Spirit Master.

These two Black Talismans were originally given to Xiao Kang by Old Master Wu to break open the barrier. However, given the current situation, he had no means to take the Wu family members away, nor could he escape to the edge of the barrier. He knew that breaking the barrier was unrealistic, so he simply used these two talismans directly, hoping to use them to stop the Spirit Master, even if only temporarily.

The talismans ignited in mid-air, and two colossal flames appeared. The flames emitted scorching heat, then twisted and deformed, swiftly transforming into two ferocious tigers engulfed in fire.

These two Black Talismans were identical to the Black Talismans Old Master Wu had previously unleashed, as all four Black Talismans had originally come from the same person.

"You're quite a brave little brat, I admire your courage, but. . ."

The Spirit Master's words were cut short. The two fire tigers indeed lunged towards him, but his speech halted abruptly not because of their attack, but because he sensed that the restrictive barrier he had set up in this place was suddenly under attack.

No sooner had he sensed the restrictive barrier being attacked than the light curtain formed by the barrier shattered with a crisp crack.

To be able to break through the restrictive barrier he had set up here in an instant was enough to prove the formidable strength of the newcomer. The Spirit Master was slightly surprised, and then he felt a wave of power rapidly approaching his location.

And the power he sensed was Spirit Power, something only the Underworld Office possessed!

Not only did the Spirit Master sense the presence of this Spirit Power, but Xiao Kang and Old Master Wu sensed it as well, though their reactions were entirely different.

Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang were overjoyed, while the Spirit Master's expression turned rather grim.

The Spirit Master knew perfectly well that the newcomer was an enemy, not a friend, so he wanted to immediately dispatch Wu Senior and the others to deliver a warning blow first.

But before he could act, the two fire tigers lunged onto him. Though they didn't inflict much damage, they caused his attack to pause.

The Spirit Master cursed loudly, his body flashing to evade the fire tigers' second attack. At the same time, the Communication Power gathered in his hand was hurled towards Wu Senior and the others.

Wu Senior and the others were bound by Yin Qi, completely unable to dodge. They could only watch helplessly as the Communication Power hurtled towards them.

Old Master Wu's expression changed drastically. He wanted to intervene and stop it, but a force suddenly lifted his body into the air. He wasn't the only one; Xiao Kang was lifted as well.

Their bodies were suddenly lifted because the Guardian Spirit had used its telekinetic ability on them. The Guardian Spirit feared that the two might ruin its master's plans, so it decisively moved against them at that moment.

Incapable of even protecting themselves, they naturally couldn't intervene in time to stop the Spirit Master. Even if they hadn't been controlled by the Guardian Spirit, their combined strength would still have been insufficient to stop the Spirit Master.

Just as the sphere of compressed Communication Power was about to smash into the area where Wu Senior and the others were, a black streak flashed by, directly cleaving the sphere into two halves.

Bang! ! !

The black streak slammed into the opposite wall and halted, revealing its form. This black streak was precisely Yang Haoran's Soul Armament, Remnant Moon.

Remnant Moon was deeply embedded in the wall. Had Yang Haoran not controlled his strength, the wall would surely have been pierced through by now.

After the compressed sphere of Communication Power was cut open by Remnant Moon, it immediately dissipated into Yin Qi. Seeing his attack thwarted, the Spirit Master's brow furrowed slightly, and his expression turned displeased.

Old Master Wu breathed a sigh of relief, his reaction a stark contrast to the Spirit Master's.

However, moments later, his and Xiao Kang's bodies were violently slammed into the ground under the Guardian Spirit's control.

Just as their bodies were about to make intimate contact with the ground, a mass of Yin Qi suddenly appeared beneath them, cushioning their fall.

His first attempt unsuccessful, the Spirit Master wanted to strike again, but at that moment, the two fire tigers charged forward once more.

The Spirit Master's face was grim. He swiftly formed hand seals, once again unleashing the Spiritual Art "Cage" to trap the two fire tigers.

Confronting such uncontrolled Black Talismans head-on was not the best strategy; the most intelligent approach was to trap them until their power was exhausted.

The Spirit Master's approach was indeed correct, but by the time he had trapped the two fire tigers, an additional figure had already appeared on the scene. This person was none other than Yang Haoran, who had rushed to the location!

The Spirit Master wasn't surprised by Yang Haoran's appearance. Upon seeing Remnant Moon embedded in the wall, he had already guessed the newcomer's identity.

Although not surprised, he was deeply wary, fearing Yang Haoran's strength, though he merely refrained from showing this wariness on his face.

If he weren't wary of Yang Haoran, why would he resort to such despicable methods to coerce Old Master Wu into cooperating with him? Since he had done so, it meant he understood one thing in his heart: he was no match for Yang Haoran.

However, seeing Yang Haoran now, blood-stained and with a somewhat weak aura, it was clear he was severely injured. Because of this, the wariness in the Spirit Master's heart diminished considerably.
