Chapter 46: Do You Trust Your Bro?
The woman Yang Haoran's gaze locked onto was none other than the university student, Wang Qing.
When Guan Hai collapsed and was hospitalized due to being entangled by Yin Qi, Yang Haoran immediately thought of this woman. The first time he had seen her, he'd felt a chill run through him. Back then, he didn't understand why, only that something was off with her. But after becoming a Night Watcher, he knew that the reason Wang Qing had made him feel a chill was because the Yin Qi around her was too potent.
Thus, after Guan Hai's incident, he naturally thought of Wang Qing.
Although he had repeatedly warned Guan Hai that night to keep his distance from Wang Qing, given his understanding of Guan Hai, if Guan Hai had developed an interest in her, he certainly wouldn't give up easily. He must have contacted her afterward.
Now that Wang Qing was in the hospital room, Yang Haoran felt his suspicion was confirmed: Guan Hai, that scoundrel, had indeed become entangled in an indescribable relationship with this woman.
As he considered this, Yang Haoran's brows furrowed further. He prepared to enter the room, but then he paused, startled.
Although he sensed Yin Qi on Wang Qing, the densest concentration of Yin Qi wasn't coming from her. The intense Yin Qi he perceived was, in fact, emanating from Guan Hai.
Guan Hai lay on the hospital bed, and the Yin Qi radiating from him had not only failed to weaken, but had intensified, becoming at least several times stronger.
Though he hadn't activated his Ghost Eye, Yang Haoran's Sense Yin ability was still active. He couldn't see the Yin Qi clinging to Guan Hai with his naked eyes, but he could clearly sense whether it had weakened or grown stronger, and by how much. A single perception was enough for him to grasp the situation.
Just as he was thinking this, Xiao Mo, amidst the group of women, spotted Yang Haoran at the doorway. She was at her wit's end dealing with these women, and upon seeing Yang Haoran, she immediately looked as if she'd found a savior.
As if sensing Xiao Mo's gaze, Yang Haoran looked towards her. Seeing her helpless expression, he understood her unspoken plea.
However, he did not enter the room. Instead, under Xiao Mo's surprised gaze, he vanished from the doorway.
A moment later, a robust figure appeared outside Guan Hai's room, completely blocking the doorway. It was none other than the stout nurse from last night.
"This is a hospital! You're making too much noise and disturbing other patients' rest, so I'm asking you to leave immediately!"
The stout nurse's words were as imposing as her physique. Her single roar instantly silenced the room.
After a brief silence, a torrent of curses erupted. Though they were all women, their insults were like battlefield skirmishes, drawing blood with every word. A single misstep could lead to eternal damnation.
There were more women in the room now than last night, many of whom had been driven out by this very nurse previously. They were already simmering with resentment, and now that the nurse was trying to evict them again, their anger naturally intensified. This led to the women not only refusing to leave but instead arguing with the stout nurse.
The commotion in the room was loud enough to be heard throughout the entire corridor, attracting numerous patients and their families to watch. At the same time, it also drew the attention of other nurses and doctors.
The patients and their families were, of course, just enjoying the spectacle. However, the nurses and doctors had to side with the stout nurse, not only because she was their colleague but also because she was in the right.
This time, the commotion was so intense that they almost called the police. In the end, without any surprise, the women were once again escorted out of the room.
Yang Haoran leaned against the hospital room door, watching one beautiful figure after another emerge, looking as if. . . well, as if some establishment had just been raided. If there were police standing there, it would have been even more fitting.
Among the women exiting the room, Yang Haoran recognized some and didn't know others, but none of them greeted him. Perhaps they didn't see him, or maybe their mood was too sour to speak.
Wang Qing was also among those evicted. As she passed by Yang Haoran, she noticed him, and Yang Haoran likewise looked at her.
Wang Qing's mental state was far from good. Though heavily made up, it couldn't hide her exhaustion. Yang Haoran sensed some Yin Qi on her, but it was very weak, not nearly as intense as what he'd felt from Guan Hai.
Seeing Yang Haoran look at her, Wang Qing frowned, a look of disdain on her face. She snapped, "Who are you? What are you staring at? Can you see it but not have it? Doesn't that make you suffer?"
With that remark, Wang Qing haughtily tossed her head and strode past Yang Haoran. From her reaction, it seemed she hadn't recognized him.
That was true. Yang Haoran had an ordinary appearance; if you threw him into a crowd, you wouldn't even find a hair of him. Wang Qing had only interacted with him once, and the lighting in the bar was too dim. It was normal for someone like Wang Qing not to remember him.
Yang Haoran didn't care whether the other party remembered him. Generally, if someone provoked him verbally, he wouldn't let them have their way. However, at this moment, he remained silent, simply watching Wang Qing leave with furrowed brows.
"Strange," he mused. "Why is the Yin Qi on her much weaker than when I first saw her that night?"
Wang Qing had vanished from sight. Yang Haoran withdrew his gaze, a puzzled expression on his face.
Unable to figure out the problem for now, Yang Haoran put it aside and entered the hospital room to check on Guan Hai's condition.
Inside the room, the other two patients looked regretful and pitying, especially the old man, who seemed so emotionally agitated that he couldn't stop coughing.
Yang Haoran, of course, had no time to bother with them. He walked straight to Guan Hai's bedside. Guan Hai's current state made his expression subtly change.
Guan Hai was in a very poor and weak state, yet the Yin Qi on him had significantly diminished.
This supposed weakening was only relative to a moment ago; compared to when Yang Haoran had left that morning, the Yin Qi on Guan Hai had actually intensified somewhat.
Yang Haoran's expression was serious, filled with doubt. He pondered for a moment, and a possible explanation for Guan Hai's condition formed in his mind, though he couldn't be certain yet.
Seeing Yang Haoran's grave expression, Guan Hai weakly chuckled. "Who owes you money? Why the long face the moment you come back?"
His voice was so feeble, it didn't sound like a young man in his twenties but rather an old man of seventy or eighty—very faint and powerless.
Hearing this, Yang Haoran looked at Guan Hai, whose face wore a weak smile. Then, his tightly furrowed brows relaxed, and his signature smile reappeared on his face.
He didn't answer Guan Hai, but instead turned to Xiao Mo, saying, "Xiao Mo, go help him complete the discharge procedures. We're leaving immediately."
At these words, not only was Xiao Mo startled, but even Guan Hai, lying on the bed, was shocked by what he said.
"Big Brother, can't you see how weak I am right now? " Guan Hai said with a wry smile. "If you make me leave the hospital now, you might as well send me straight to the crematorium."
"That's right, Brother Yang," Xiao Mo said, her face full of worry. "I think Brother Guan Hai's condition hasn't improved at all; in fact, it's getting worse. He desperately needs treatment right now. If we leave—"
Xiao Mo hadn't finished speaking when Yang Haoran raised a hand to cut her off.
Yang Haoran knew Xiao Mo would listen to Guan Hai; as long as Guan Hai spoke, Xiao Mo would follow. So, what he needed to do now was convince Guan Hai.
Convincing others, Yang Haoran might not have much confidence, but convincing Guan Hai? He certainly had that much faith in himself.
"Haizi," Yang Haoran asked with a smile, "do you trust your bro?"
Without a moment's thought, Guan Hai immediately retorted, cursing, "I trust you? I trust your ass! Are you trying to kill me off so you can inherit my bar?"
Hearing this, Yang Haoran, still smiling, raised his hand as if to slap Guan Hai, but his hand didn't fall. It hovered in the air for a moment before he pulled it back.
"Damn it, I'm serious! Get discharged and leave with me right now. I can save you. " Yang Haoran said, both annoyed and amused.
"You can save me? " Guan Hai looked at Yang Haoran, then weakly shook his head, replying with certainty, "I don't believe you. You definitely want to kill me off."
"I'll 'deal with' your grandpa! " Yang Haoran playfully cursed. "You're afflicted with Yin Qi. I'll take care of it when we get back. Haven't you always wanted to know if I have real skills? This time, I'll show you!"
Guan Hai, who had been looking utterly weak, actually had his eyes light up upon hearing Yang Haoran's words, as if his interest had been piqued.
"Alright, let's get discharged! " Guan Hai's reply was surprisingly decisive.
Xiao Mo, who had originally intended to stay out of their bickering, couldn't help but change her expression when she heard Guan Hai agree. She quickly urged, "No, Brother Guan Hai, your body is—"
"It's fine, I won't die," Guan Hai said nonchalantly. "If it gets worse when we go back, you can just send me back here then."
"But—"
Xiao Mo hadn't finished speaking when Guan Hai interrupted her again. Guan Hai looked at Xiao Mo with tender affection and softly asked, "Xiao Mo, do you trust your bro?"
Without a second thought, Xiao Mo immediately nodded vigorously. "Yes! I trust you!"
Seeing this, Yang Haoran almost spat out a mouthful of old blood. The very words he had used on Guan Hai, Guan Hai had turned around and used on Xiao Mo, and the effect was like night and day. Watching Guan Hai's affectionate expression, Yang Haoran genuinely felt an urge to just hack that guy to death.
That afternoon, Guan Hai was forcibly discharged with Yang Haoran's support, while Xiao Mo led the way, carrying their belongings.
After leaving the hospital, they hailed a taxi, and the three of them headed straight for Guan Hai's residential community.
