"Heh heh, this is the place."
Looking at the small house ahead, Second Brother chuckled, then with a wave of his hand, a restraining barrier appeared, visible to the naked eye.
The restraining barrier enveloped the entire house. This barrier was completely different from the one covering the entire Cloud Mist Mountain Manor; the latter allowed one to sense power fluctuations, while the former was like air, completely undetectable.
This method was not unfamiliar to Yang Haoran. The barrier he had set up when refining the Soul-Refining Cauldron bore some resemblance to the one currently enveloping the house.
The reason this restraining barrier was now visible was, of course, because Second Brother had intentionally made it so. Otherwise, it would have been impossible to see its existence with the naked eye.
Under Second Brother's activation, the barrier split open, creating an opening. The opening was not small, wide enough for several people to pass through side-by-side.
However, the moment the barrier split open, a spatial fluctuation suddenly emanated from the space in front of the four. Then, the space tore apart, and a figure emerged from within the spatial rift.
The newcomer was a man who looked incredibly young, no more than twenty years old. He had a fair and delicate complexion and handsome features, giving off a 'pretty boy' vibe.
It wasn't that he recognized Bai Xue; he was simply stunned by her beauty.
Seeing the man lose his composure so completely, and over his own 'prey' no less, Second Brother's brows furrowed, and a displeased look crossed his face. He then coughed twice.
Hearing Second Brother's cough, the man snapped out of his daze. He looked at Second Brother, an awkward smile appearing on his face.
"Second Brother, these are. . . ? " the man asked, his gaze unconsciously lingering on Bai Xue for an extra moment as he spoke.
"They are all my friends. As for this one. . . " Second Brother paused, glanced at Bai Xue beside him, then continued, "She's your future sister-in-law."
Bai Xue got goosebumps all over her body hearing Second Brother's words, and a wave of revulsion churned in her heart.
But for the plan to proceed smoothly, she suppressed the discomfort in her heart, displaying a charming smile, as if confirming Second Brother's words were true.
The moment the man heard that this stunning woman before him was his future sister-in-law, his expression instantly changed, and a flash of regret flickered in his eyes.
"So it's sister-in-law, my apologies, I was rude just now."
The man apologized. He dared not look at Bai Xue again, fearing he would make a fool of himself once more due to her beauty, so he only glanced at her before quickly turning his gaze back to Second Brother.
"Second Brother, why have you brought them here? What are you preparing to do? " the man asked.
"Just taking them in for a look around, don't worry," Second Brother replied.
The man's face showed difficulty, and he continued, "But Eldest Brother gave instructions that no outsiders are allowed into this house."
"Outsiders? What outsiders? Is your sister-in-law an outsider?"
Second Brother's face darkened. The man's obstruction made him lose Face, and he felt humiliated. Thus, his tone became much heavier, even taking on a lecturing tone.
"This. . . " The man looked troubled, unsure what to say for a moment.
"Alright, hurry up and get out of the way. Don't stand here wasting my time. We'll go in for a moment and come right back out," Second Brother said impatiently.
Perceiving Second Brother's impatience, the man found it difficult to object further and stepped aside.
"This is my Fifth Brother. He's young and foolish, sister, don't take it to heart."
Second Brother, worried Bai Xue might misunderstand, quickly explained, a smile blooming on his face once more.
Bai Xue smiled and shook her head, saying, "It's alright, I'm not that petty."
"Hahahahaha, sister, your broad-mindedness truly impresses your Second Brother. Come, I'll lead you in."
Second Brother burst into laughter, then led the three towards the opening in the barrier.
Yang Haoran followed closely. As he passed the man, he offered an apologetic smile, then took out a cigarette and offered it to him.
"My apologies for the disturbance. We'll just take a look inside and come right out. Don't worry."
The man took the cigarette, while Yang Haoran, with a smiling face, lit his lighter.
Seeing Yang Haoran's enthusiasm, and knowing he was Second Brother's friend, the man didn't think much of it, lit it, and took a puff.
"Thanks, but you'd better come out as soon as possible. Don't stay inside too long, or else when Eldest Brother blames us, I'll suffer too."
The man's face was glum; it was clear his mood was far from pleasant.
Yang Haoran nodded with a smile, said nothing more, then quickly followed, stepping inside the barrier under Second Brother's lead.
As the four stepped into the barrier, the opening in it closed up again, and the barrier itself became hidden once more, invisible to the naked eye.
Inside the barrier, Yang Haoran still couldn't sense any Demon Qi. His expression remained unchanged, and he didn't ask any questions, simply dutifully following behind Second Brother.
Second Brother chatted with Bai Xue while smilingly opening the house door. The door wasn't locked; a gentle push was all it took to open it.
The four entered the house, but there was no sign of the female demon inside.
From the various furnishings, it was clear this house wasn't meant for living; it was either a small conference room or a compact living room.
"This is where we five brothers usually discuss important matters," Second Brother explained with a smile, his tone carrying a hint of boastfulness. "Although it's not very spacious, everything inside is expensive, high-quality goods."
Bai Xue's gaze swept around. She had no interest whatsoever in these expensive items, and neither did Yang Haoran or Ye Zhiqiu.
"Second Brother truly has great capabilities. Some of the things in this house can't even be bought with money!"
Bai Xue's words were utter nonsense; she couldn't tell at all if the things in this house were valuable or not. She was merely saying this to flatter Second Brother.
"Haha, sister, what a sharp eye you have! Some things in here are indeed very precious, not something money can necessarily buy. Take this painting, for example. It looks like a blank sheet of paper, but it's from the hand of a famous artist. People without an extremely high level of appreciation simply can't understand this painting. It just so happens your Second Brother can understand it, and to get this painting, I went to great lengths," Second Brother said with a smug look on his face, pointing at a painting.
What he called a painting was, in fact, nothing but a blank sheet of paper. Yet, in Second Brother's eyes, it was as if he saw a beauty disrobing.
Bai Xue's mouth twitched slightly. She chuckled, then said, "How could mere mortals understand such a masterpiece? Your Second Brother's level of appreciation truly impresses your sister. Once my brother's matter is resolved, could you perhaps lend this painting to your sister for a few days to admire? Your sister also wishes to improve her appreciation skills."
Bai Xue said these words partly to flatter Second Brother, and partly to urge him to get to the main business at hand.
However, Second Brother didn't catch the hidden meaning in Bai Xue's words. He thought he had found a kindred spirit, mistakenly believing Bai Xue admired this painting just as much.
"Don't worry, sister, what's mine is yours. If you like it, you can admire it for as long as you wish."
Bai Xue smiled awkwardly. Seeing that Second Brother hadn't understood the meaning behind her words, she had no choice but to be more direct.
"Oh, by the way, Second Brother, where is the female demon? Didn't we come here to see her? " Bai Xue asked with a smile.
"Heh heh, why are you so eager, little sister? The female demon is right beneath us."
As his words fell, Second Brother gently turned a vase. A clunking sound echoed, and a passage appeared in the center of the room, a passage leading underground.
"This house isn't as simple as it looks; there are hidden depths below. It's just that because a restraining barrier was set up, you couldn't sense it."
As his words fell, Second Brother waved his hand, and a visible restraining light curtain illuminated the passage entrance. This light curtain perfectly sealed off the entire entrance. Under the Moonlight Night God
